"Did he really send you in?"

"Yes."

"Wow. Situation must be pretty dire, then."

"...Yes."

"Who's your target?"

"Classified."

"You aren't very talkative, are you?"

"No. And neither should you be. If anything gets out‐"

"I know. Believe me, Rex made that very clear."

"Good. Now let's get a move on."

~~~
"Isn't it fun, Lucifer?"
"Angel."
"Right, sorry. But don't you think it's fun fooling all those people?"
"Not really."
"What? Then how'd you get the job."
"I'm careful, thorough, and loyal. None of which I can say about you."
"...Touché."
~~~

"Angel, please. You've gotta help me cover this up."

"I warned you."

"I-I know, and I fucked up. But please, I can't go back to jail!"

"There is nothing we can do. You knew this when you signed on."

"And if you got thrown in the slammer? Would your little boy-toy-"

"Never talk about Sal like that again, or I'll kill you."

*breathing heavily* "...Fine."

~~~
"Did you know about Fang's double life?"
"No. If I did, I would have turned them in."
"Then how did you feel when you learned about it?"
"...Betrayed. I considered them a friend. To think they were doing these things that go against everything I stand for... It sickens me."
"Of course. Now, I don't think this, of course, but some folks are saying you helped Fang cover it up. Is this true?"
"Of course not. I already told you-"
"I know, but there are some gaps in your story. Didn't you live with them? How did you not realize?"
"A product of the circumstances. We were both quite distant. We were friends—or at least I hope we were—but we kept it professional.
"I see. Didn't you say earlier that you were friends?"
"Yes. Work friends, but friends nonetheless. There were boundaries we couldn't cross—nothing about our personal lives, for one thing. That kept us apart."
"Do you regret not getting closer with them?"
"It's... hard to say. Maybe I could have turned them in, or maybe even stopped them from hurting people in the first place. But maybe they would have dragged me down with them."
"That's an interesting statement. Could you elaborate on that last part?"
"Well, I'm a person just like all of you. I have emotions, weaknesses, flaws. I would never do what they did, but maybe they would have corrupted me in other ways. It's impossible to say now—it's over and done with, and now all that's left is to move forward."
"I see, I see. Well, thank you for coming on the show, Angel! I know you don't do interviews very often, so I appreciate the opportunity."
"Of course. I couldn't stay silent about this."
Angel started out as a solo hero. She got her name from the first article written about her, less than a day after her first appearance.
However, there was another solo hero who she became close with. Eventually, they teamed up, becoming even more effective as a team than they had been alone. That hero's name was Fang; they were a drakon, something between human and dragon. Durable, fire-breathing, and even capable of flight, yet small enough to fit in doors and with vocal cords that could actually speak English.
Fang and Angel's partnership went perfectly. Fang could speak for Angel, and in return, she watched their back in fights.
At some point after this, Fang was revealed as a criminal. They were using their impeccable sense of smell to hunt down and murder villains. Rather than bringing them to justice, Fang burnt them to a crisp.
This wouldn't have been so bad. They might have even gotten away with it... except for the fact that they lit a huge fire during one of their hunts. The fire killed dozens and injured many more. And there was evidence that Fang had done it on purpose, fanning the flames to destroy the crime scenes.
Angel took her first—and only—offer for an interview to denounce her former partner. Strangely, a few weeks later, Fang escaped from police custody. They were never found, and they're still at large to this day.
(Basically: Sal hired a superpowered mercenary to blend in with the heroes and kill some villains. However, Fang wasn't giving him the results he wanted, so he sent Angel in as well. Fang's flair for the dramatic got them caught, leading to a whole bunch of trouble for Angel; Sal did end up breaking them out, though.
I don't really like how this turned out. Still, the idea is interesting to tired brain right now. I might not make it canon, though. It kind of contradicts some other bits of Angel's story and character. She was always intended to be very smart, careful, and methodical, as she states herself. I'm not sure she'd put herself in a situation like this; maybe when she was younger, but she knows better now. And where did Sal find a literal dragon, anyway?
I'm nitpicking this idea a lot, huh? I do like it. It's just that I'm not sure it really fits. Dragon hero will be a thing regardless of whether this bit is canon, though.)
