Extras #2
Hi everyone! I'm sorry to announce there won't be any updates today or Friday. Reason being is that something unexpectedly came up irl, and I'm not in the mindset to edit the next two chapters. I'm hoping things will get be better in the next week that we can return to normal updates, but unfortunately, we will all have to just wait and see as life is getting a bit hectic and crazy.
The reason y'all are getting an extra tidbit instead is because I had prepared some stuff in case something like this would come up (yay for being over prepared!) So, no need to worry, this didn't interfere with that. I hope you all have fun with the stuff I pulled together and have a wonderful day.
For this first little fun-tidbit, I'm going to do something that was inspired by a tag I did a long time ago on Wattpad. That tag was a simple, give your characters a theme song.
Think it's no surprise who I consider my MC's, so there is a song I think would work for each of them. PLEASE NOTE, if you have not caught up to chapter 23, there will be major spoilers ahead.
Tami Smith: Home
Because if you listen to the lyrics of the song, it's talking about a story of someone wanting to find home, a place where they truly belong, feel safe, and can be who they want to be. In a way, that's Tami throughout this entire book. She's trying to figure out how she can get to that place where she's comfortable in her own skin, even if she's terrified of doing so.

Kaito Oba: Walking on Sunshine
Because he's my little ray of sunshine. The song's upbeat and just so happy, and that is Kaito to a T.

Raiden Yamamoto: The Pheonix
Because it has this very intense sound, there are moments where it's soft, almost showing his soft side. I know it's about changing someone, but I really think if you apply that the person is changing is Raiden himself, it would make sense. Also, shoutout to sd1229 for helping me find this.

Sakura Sakai: Not Your Barbie Girl
Because she's sass, full of confidence, and a girlie girl. I could so see her singing this song in her car, blasting it wherever she went...well, once she's old enough to drive and all. In the mean time, this is more than likely the song she will listen to as she gets ready so that she can get ready to slay.

Oliver "Ollie" Davis: Happy
Because Ollie is usually so happy and cheerful, and even though he doesn't have a Quirk, he finds the positives to life. Nothing can usually bring him down.

Goro/Meaty: Phantom of the Opera
Because he likes operas, his whole life revolved around them before becoming a villain (which, I'll explain that in a bit).
[There should be a GIF or video here. Update the app now to see it.]
Nii/Nightshade: Sweet but Psycho
Because she looks sweet, but is a psycho.

Kannon Smith: Control
Because of many reasons. One: it's really creepy sounding that reminds me of all the songs in the Creepy Kidnapping Arc. Two: It mentions about being worse than the demons, which is Kannon in a nutshell. And three: there's the lyrics "And all the kids cries out "Please stop, you're scaring me"" which could almost refer to every time he has an interaction with Tami.

Okay, so I mentioned something about Goro's backstory, and I thought it'd be best if I explained more through giving all the villains their backstory. Now, keep in mind, this is information isn't going to be given in the book, but it will explain a lot as to why they are the way that they are. Does that make them in the right? Oh no! But, you have to realize they think what they're doing is right considering what happened to them. I'll go to smallest villain to biggest villain (and when it comes to who had it worse, trust me, it's not in order at all).
Goro/Meaty
So, Goro loved helping people out when he could, loved going to the opera, and just overall was a good guy. He's high class, and always thinks about his manners first.
However, one night, he went to the opera where he was falling in love with the story that was going on. Somehow, his hands started to melt into the chair he was sitting in, accidentally sticking the two people beside him to their seats. It was a harmless act, but it quickly escalated when people jumped to conclusions that he was a villain (at the time, there was a villain who just so happened to have a Quirk similar to his). He was arrested that night.
When he was released, he tried everything he could to get rid of his Quirk. People still looked down at him, even though it was later found out that he was innocent. During this time, he ran into a man who happened to figure out about his predicament, and offered that if he were to help him, he'd erase his Quirk. Wanting nothing more than to be seen as a normal guy, to be able to go to the opera without an embarrassing accident to happen, he was more than happy to join Kannon's small team to erase everyone's Quirks.
Nii/Nightshade
When Nii's parents found out about her Quirk, they were horrified. They didn't want their daughter's Quirk to be used for the wrong reasons, so they shielded her away from the outside world and fed Nii lie after lie on what the world was like. Of course, they were later arrested as Justice-Core found out about a teenager living there and realizing they were depriving her of more than a social life (they sometimes wouldn't feed her/punish her in other ways if she tried to escape). That was the last mission he did before turning evil. Nii was then taken into an orphanage where people thought they could teach her that not everyone was bad. Instead, it gave her this warped idea of how people treated each other as they were all kids and sometimes, she was treated the same way.
Word got out that she had the power to knock people out with a simple kiss, so a villain kidnapped her and used her for a bit. This villain manipulated her even further, and eventually, Nii went crazy. She ended up kissing the man, and was nearly going to leave when Kannon showed up. For the first time, Nii recognized him and started blaming him for all that he did. Nii was about ready to use her Quirk on him when Kannon surprisingly told her he felt the same way about heroes. This took Nii off guard as she thought he was one of them, but after some time, realized why he didn't have faith in heroes just like she did.
From there, she followed Kannon like a faithful disciple, not caring that he was using her for her Quirk because he thought the same way like she did. Or at least, they had the same view on what heroes were like, and with Kannon's Quirk working best when people were asleep, she realized it was the best way to get back at people. She used what she learned from the orphanage and the villain to lure people in for a kiss to give to Kannon to have them forget their Quirk.
Kannon Smith/Justice Core
Surely, all of you have figured this out, but he did start off as a good guy. He loved the lime light in America, and America loved him as he was able to work alongside other heroes to erase the memories of villains to be able to put them back into society without them ever daring going back to being bad.
He had a loving wife, who supported him; however, when he learned he was going to be a father, he got cold feet. He was afraid that he'd have to choose between being a hero and a father, and he didn't want to give either up. The pressure was even higher when his wife asked him to take a few days off of work when the baby would arrive, but Kannon couldn't fathom the thought of more villains going out and about that instead he just left.
Not long after, there was a fire where one of his coworkers lived, or at least, an ex-hero coworker. Kannon realized at this point that he needed to be the one to go in there and save the person; however, he was too late and the building collapsed on him. He was saved as the person he was trying to save used their own Quirk on him, but of course, it wasn't enough to keep the flames from getting to him, causing a lot of third degree burns, mostly on his left side. Most healed, but his face was so bad it was almost beyond repair.
No one recognized him until after some reporter prematurely published an article about him dying, and the scandal of him leaving his wife. Kannon was furious, and decided to take matters into his own hands, hacking into computers to delete all evidence of him, burning every newspaper/book/etc he could find, and erased most everyone's memories about him until no one could truly remember who Kannon Smith/Justice-Core truly was.
He became bitter, but even more so when his wife turned him away before he went through with that. Helen was upset and claimed that the only reason he came back was cuz he was no longer a hero. That wasn't enough for her. So, that night, he waited until she was asleep to use his Quirk to erase all horrible thoughts about him and anything to really prevent her from leaving. He would've kidnapped Tami that night had it not been mere luck that Tami was at her grandparents.
Years past, and Kannon tried to get Tami, but it wasn't because she was his daughter as much as it was to get back at Helen. During this time, he was removing Quirks from people in Rhode Island, only it was getting exhausting, until he saw Tami use her Quirk to change into someone else. He knew if she could use his own Quirk through that, it'd be twice as quick to erase everyone's Quirk (of course, that's beyond Tami's Quirk, wouldn't happen). That wouldn't stop him as he knew one day, her Quirk could prove useful; however, after Tami ran away, her family left to Japan (as Helen had a fear of him getting to her and knew that if she ever wanted to be a hero, she'd have a better chance in Japan than America).
From then on, Kannon got to work to find her and slowly recruited Nightshade and Goro to help him out.
And normally, I'd say that's all, but I have some exciting news to share. This book was nominated for most Original Story in the BNHA Awards (2020 English Version) and has made it into the final round!! I want to say a quick thanks to those who nominated this book in the first place, it truly means a lot! Now, there are a TON of great stories nominated in every category, so to me, just making it to the final round like this means a lot. I encourage you all to check it out, look at all the categories, and voting for your favorite stories there. If you see something you like more than I'm No Hero, then vote for that one. Trust me, it won't hurt my feelings as I honestly didn't think I would make it that far, and I'm still shocked that all happened.
If you need any help with finding it, let me know. Just please understand it may take a while to respond, but I'll get there eventually. Again, I hope y'all are being safe and healthy. Take care y'all. I hope to see you all next week.
