This is a personal AU that I just made up. In this AU people get reincarnated when they die before the age of 20. Certain people, who the universe decide have learned their lesson, and might be able to help others with their previous experiences get chosen to become a side to a lucky person, that person will have the ability to influence many people.
At the end of this chapter I will input a summary of what the song means, aka what happens in his previous lives

Virgil was the eldest side. He was known for being relatively closed off, yet extremely helpful and protective. He always seemed to be one step ahead of everyone, and knew exactly what to do in any given situation.

Even Patton, who was known for being fatherly, was surprised at Virgil's First aid, and lively knowledge. Everyone wanted to know why Virgil was like this, however none of then knew how to ask him. They didn't wish to upset him and it seemed like a sore subject.

So everyone kept quiet, until Remus of all people decided he was done waiting and asked him.

"What even happened in your previous lives Emo"

Virgil was slightly taken back.
"Oh, um. I dont really like talk like to about it, but I do know a way to explain it, if you would be willing to listen to a song a daughter of mine made."

Remus was ecstatic, he didn't want to ruin this chance by stressing Virgil out and asking to invite the other sides, so he simply told then that all would be revealed, they would simply have to go to the theatre, and stay hidden if they wanted to figure out the best kept secret of the mind scape.
Which was quite ominous, since there were many secrets that the tenants of the mind scape had not shared.

Nearly 2 weeks later the 'meeting' took place. The main sides, including Janus, snuck into the theatre and sat in the back, where the lights were so dim that they would go unnoticed.

Virgil stepped on the stage with a guitar, he looked at Remus, gave him a shaky smile before muttering “ Just let the song play out, don't interrupt or ask questions till the end, please”  (start music- The Beer by Kimya Dawson) 
Virgil took a deep breath, began to play a rather quick toon, and began to sing.

The beer I had for breakfast was a bottle of Mad Dog
And my 20/20 vision was 50 percent off
He said “Punch buggy red” and punched me right in my left eye
Virgil's face shifted and showed a black eye, a busted lip, and what seemed to be a broken nose. His face was sunken in and looked like he was being starved and abused
I said “Don’t you mean padiddle?”
 and I lit his house on fire
He came home on acid.
 I was holding his shotgun
I was dressed like Tina Turner in "Beyond Thunderdome."
He said “Don’t shoot.” I said, “I won’t. I love you, you’re my friend.”
I handed him my wig and shot myself in the head
Virgil's form quickly shifted into one which showed a bloody face, and a bullet hole in the side of his head,

Then I stuffed a box of tissues in the hole in my skull
I got in my Mazda, and I drove to the mall
I got a Big Johnson shirt and some silicone tits
When I pulled out the tissues they were covered with shit.
His form shafted again, this time portraying himself with feminin features,
He looked happier, yet if you looked him in his yes you could tell there was something wrong  
And the beer I had for breakfast was a box of cheap white wine
The boombox on my shoulder was a box of clementines
I ate every single one without noticing the mold
His features once more appeared sunken in, and his originally muscular figure turned bony and scrawny.
You said, “You’re gross, my darling.” I said “No, I’m rock ‘n’ roll.”
Even though I’d never ever been in a band
I got “Kool As Black Ice” tattooed on  my hand
He shifted into a form that looked like a punk he had tattoos, piercings, yet he looked young, he couldn't have been more than 15
And the Christians gave me comic books, as if I would be scared
Of burning in Hell while I was already there
His originally stylish clothes shifted once more, to a rather outdated dress, it seemed to be from the 1800’s, that dress quickly became black and charred, his face quickly becoming burnt and marred with pain, almost as if he had been burned alive...

And the beer I had for breakfast, Silver Bullet in the brain
And the beer I had for lunch was a bottle of Night Train
And the beer I had for dinner was my crazy neighbor’s pills
We had to sit down on skateboards just to make it down the hill
Then I peed my pants and you stole the groom’s cigar
And some old man made me watch him masturbate locked in his car
When I got back to the apartment you were face-down on the floor
You said “Don’t go to bed yet. Let’s go get a 64.”

And the beer I had for breakfast was a pint of Jim Beam
And a fifth of peach schnapps and some warm Sunny D
And you said “Bottoms up!” just as I bottomed out
I tried to scream “fuck you” but blood was pouring out my mouth
Blood poured from Virgil's mouth, showing that he had been poisoned
Evan Dando never planned on telling you the truth
And your Leonardo I.D. card is your fountain of youth
You can be a teenager for your whole fucking life:
Just find some pretty sucker and make that bitch your wife
This time his outfit morphed into a wedding dress, yet it was not the beautiful white that most would see, instead it was stained with blood, dirt, and was tered at the arms and waist, as if he had gone through with this not of his own accord.

I guess by now you all known my friend Danny broke his neck
He was driving home from Sirens and he got into a wreck
First I cried for him, then I cried for me
Haunted by the ghost of the girl I used to be
A bruise formed around his neck, as if he had hung himself…

But the rocks with holes are warm in my hands
And I bury my toes in the hot, hot sand
Now he looked as if he had shattered against the ground
.
Finally his clothes shifted back to his usual outfit, and his form became full and lean once again, he was back, he was where he belonged once more.

As the song came to a close Remus stood there shocked from all that he had see, he knew that Virgil must have died multiple times, as had all of the, but they was in which he portrayed his deaths, the betrayals from those that were supposed to be family, the abuse that he must have dealt with, and the pain he could now see behind Virgil's eyes made him jump on stage and hug the anxious facet. 

At the back of the theatre Patton was sniffling, Janus held a hand over his mouth, and Roman and Logan stared with wide eyes. This explained his rather paranoid behavior, his jumpiness, and how he was so equipped to handle almost any situation, he had been through the same things, over and over, so he knew how to get out of those situations, and the warning signs for those potentially harmful situations. 

Now a decision had to be made, would they tell Virgil that they now knew his secret, or would they keep quiet and simply adapt their day to day lives in order to give Virgil an easier time.
Its a decision that must be made, but everyone knows that the only way to keep a secret, between 4, is if 3 of you are dead. 

Ok, That's the end, so pretty much this story is based off of a song that i've been listening to on repeat, i thought it would be cool if these situations Kimya describes were actually ways that an individual died, 
Here is a list of the ways he died.

He was in an abusive relationship, The first way Virgil dies, in the song order,is from air loss,  Virgil had his windpipe crushed after a specifically bad beating.
 The second way in which Virgil dies according to the song  is a bullet through the brain. The 4th was from starvation once more riddle was stuck in an abusive relationship with his parents and did not feed him enough. In his next life where he died at around the age of 15 it was just originally from a car crash after going to the mall and getting a tattoo he and his friend who was barely Sixteen at the time died from a car crash.  The 6th Way or in  reference to the timeline was back in the 18 hundreds where he was burned at the stake for being allegedly a witch. Another was from poisoning, one of Virgil's  trusted friends at the time, poisoned him, in other words when he spit up blood that was the chemicals interacting with his stomach causing him to cough up blood.  in another of his lives he died after hanging himself due to an arranged marriage.  and then his last life in the song ended after jumping off a cliff. At the point where the song mentions a pony that told him he deserved to be really happy, it was referencing when he was chosen to become a side, and became the protector of thomas.
