How to train your Dragon AU
Honestly I love Httyd I've been watching it since I was a kid and have seen all of it (including the netflix series and the Cartoon Network series. And I had a dream almost exactly like this last night.

His heart was thundering in his chest, he could feel the anxiety squeezing his chest, and clawing up his throat, as the dragon growled at him, snarling ferociously, as it stalked towards him, he did the unthinkable.

He turned his head, closed his eyes, and slowly extended his arm, making his palm flat.

He could hear Roman and Patton gasp from the other side of the room, and Logan yell his name.

A moment of waiting.
To see if he would lose an arm, or if the dragon would attack, or-.

He felt the dragons breath right next to his hand, but he didnt move, he held still.

And the dragon moved.

Their snout pressed against his hand.

A wonderful feeling burst through the two. It felt almost like their hearts came together as one.

Virgil opened his eyes wide, looking back to where the dragon was, seeing it almost purring.

He laughed, and smiled, wider than anyone had ever seen.

He giggled and started petting the dragon, holding its face.

The dragon moved away, and seemed to be glowing with how happy it was, it jumped around Virgil like an excited puppy.

"Oh, your beautiful, so beautiful, you were just scared weren't you, you didnt want to hurt anyone, that's just what others did to you."

Virgil said bring the dragons head closer to him once again.

"You've been hurt before haven't you, dont worry, no one will ever hurt you again, I'll be there to protect you, you will never need to be alone and scared ever again.  I promise."

The dragon nudged Virgil with his head, purring posessivily.

"Tempest, is that your name?"

The dragon nodded.

Virgil was ecstatic, he felt so happy, and he couldnt stop smiling, the dragon seemed to understand him, and the name just popped into his head.

Virgil practically squealed, he shook his hands and turned in a circle to get the extra buzz out of his system. It didn't seem to work so he settled for bouncing from one foot to the other, while practically glowing with happiness.

The dragon copied his movement and bounced around Virgil.

Virgil turned with the dragon before crying out with glee hugging it again.

He couldn't believe it, this beautiful vermilion dragon, with teeth as sharp as blades, was bouncing around nudging Virgil with his head.

None of the others moved. They were frozen in shock, how could this be happening, Dragons have been known to slaughter humans in the past, how did this happen?

Logan was practically shutting down, Remus and Roman shared a similar expression of "what the fuck" Patton had a hand over his heart, calming down from the moment he thought Virgil would be eaten, and Janus was simply standing there with his mouth agape.

Virgil was in his own little world, he could care less about what was happening around him, or what the others were feeling. He didn't even feel any anxiety, and that was impressive considering he has never had a moment of peace since he was first formed.

Virgil was simply happy to have Tempest, and the Dragon seemed to share the sentiment. They were both overjoyed with the light feeling in their hearts, too busy enjoying this moment to even thing about the other Dragons surrounding them, or the dangers that lurked outside, at this moment, they forgot about the rest of the world, and they were both content with that.

Nothing could harm them in this moment, and they were fine...for now.
