--- Nick P.O.V ---

Hey Jessica,

Hi, I just found out, you aren't here, and I wanted to give you something. I also really wanted to tell you something, really bad. Okay, here it goes...

I like you, a lot. 

I really mean it. I feel bad for all those bad things, okay? I'm sorry. It was.... a phase? I guess. I never really knew what it was with me.

I'm sorry okay.

I hope you enjoy your new life, call or write back when you can.

I put the envelope in and a gift I bought for her in the box. I carefully place it next to everything the others have put in. 

I hope she takes my message the right way.

I hear the doorbell ring and I head to the door straight away, since I was alone tonight with my little sister I was in charge.

I looked through the peephole and I saw Justin. I unlocked the door and opened it. 

"Hey," I said.

Instead of replying he gave me something like a stink eye.

"Uh.... so.... what are you doing here?"

He raised his eyebrow and stared, then he burst.

"Why do you have her box?!?!?" 

I was taken aback when he burst. Then I heard small footsteps behind me.

"Nick?"

I turned around and stared. It was my little sister, Lily.

"Lily what are you doing up?"

"I heard someone yelling." She replied quietly. She held her teddy bear tightly to her chest.

Justin looked over my shoulder and was really surprised.

"You have a sister?"

"Yeah," I replied

"Hey," he said. "I'm Justin, what's your name?"

"I-I'm Lily," She stuttered.

"How old are ya?"

"I'm this many," She said holding 5 fingers up.

"Wow! You're such a big girl!" Justin said to her.

She smiled and walked into the living room and started playing with dolls.

"Now.... mind explaining Nick?"

"Yeah, I just wanted to talk to her, but I didn't have her email address or anything so I decided to ask Jonah to help, but he told me to do this instead."

"Ah, what do you want to tell her?"

"It's none of your buisness Jackson!"

"You can take something out on me, but you can't on my sister!"

"She isn't your sister anymore. Don't you know that? Or are you just that blind?"

"She may not be my true sister but in here she is." He said making a fist and  pounding it once on his chest.

"Fine, ya wanna see a fight?"

"Yeah!"

"No!"

"Ok, that was quick."

I smiled slightly. "You have no business in knowing what I have to say to Jess."

"Fine." He walked out muttering and took a jog around the block.

 I closed the door and walked to my sister who was sleeping on the floor. I picked her up and carried her to her room and put her down on her bed.

"Nick?"

I turned to see Lily looking up at me. "Yes Princess?"

"Will mommy be back soon?"

"No, I've told you before, she's gone."

"How about dad?"

"I hope Princess, I hope." 

"Can you stay here tonight? I'm scared. What if daddy comes in like he did last week?"

"If he does, your prince will stay with you."

"I want mommy to be here."

"Some day Princess, we'll find her."

"Nick, read me the note she left us again. please."

"Again?"

"Yes please!"

"Oh Alright."

"I'm sorry, but I must leave. I can't stay. Your father has the money to take care of you, and I don't, I can't stand him either. I love you so much. Remember I'll always be in your hearts, and you'll be in mine. I love you!

"Love Mom."

"I miss her."

"So do I Lily, I always do."

I sat down next to her and sat up on and leaned on her head board, she put her head on my chest and looked at me and at her dolls and things from our mom.

"At least I have you."

"Yeah, without me, you have nothing." Lily said smiling.

Our parents were young when they had me, really young. 7 years later they decide to have another one, Lily.

They had me when my mom was 21, dad was 23. Then they had Lily when my mom was 28 and my dad was 30, and I was 7.

I miss them bad.

Lily reached her hand over me and held on, soon her breath slowed and her eyes were shut. She was sleeping. I decided to stay, incase my dad came home.

The 2 words that described him when he came back after going out was:

Drunk Dad

Last week he got me and Lily in a fight, I remember it like it was yesterday.....

----- Past Memory -----

"Hey kids." My dad came in all wozzy and wobily.

"Hi dad...." I backed up and took Lily's hand.

He reached for Lily but I pulled her back. She'd experience this more than once, and she is always afraid.

I put her behind me and my dad came up to me and said. "How dare you try and hide my own daughter from me?"

"Dad! You should know!"

"I don't!" 

He grabbed me by the collar and almost lifted me off the ground, my hand still holding Lily's.

"Give me my daughter!"

"Never!"

That was the thing, I had to do this or else my sister would get hurt.

He held my colar tighter and held me up higher. Then he dropped me hard to the ground and I let go of Lily, because if I kept holding on, she'd get hurt. The second I hit the ground I grabbed her out of my dad's reach and picked her up. "She's my sister. Leave her alone." I turned and walked away with her in my arms. I could feel her shaking hard.

"Are you okay Lily?"

"I'm okay, I'm scared."

"It's alright. Wanna sleep in my room then?"

"Yes please."

We went to her room to get her into her pajamas, and to get her doll and blanket. She brushed her teeth and followed me into my room. 

"Wait here."

I went downstairs and set an alarm near my dad, he was lying on the couch like he passed out. He'd hear the alarm in the morning, then he'd be off to work, away from me and Lily.

I headed back upstairs but I felt a tug at my colar. I turned to see my dad staring dead into my eyes. He punched me, but I was lucky to be fast enough to duck. I swung my fist into his stomach and he backed away, clutching his stomach.

I ran upstairs to my room and closed the door and locked it, I put my chair under the door handle and sat beside Lily on my bed.

My bed had been made for 2 kids because well Lily liked sleeping with me and such.

We got under the covers and soon she'd be asleep, as usual she'd fall asleep, I'd sneak out of bed and get my headphones and my ipod and listen to music. I'd check some stuff like my email on there and play a few games before I decided time to sleep.

Then I'd switch to music that helped me sleep and I'd go to sleep.
