In the Background

Libby was at her house just finishing up her homework when she got a text. She looked at her phone just to see who it was. It was Sheen. Talking to Sheen was different than anyone else, so she picked up her phone to respond. The text said:

Hey I want to show you something. Got time?

Now, Sheen wasn't one for really big surprises, or being mysterious. That's how this came of to Libby. She arched a brow then shrugged.

Sure why not? I need dets though. She responded. She didn't exactly know what he meant. He responded quickly.

I'll come pick you up at 7 to take you there. Just have your bike and you at the end of your driveway when I come. Okay?

Okay now Libby was nervous. Not a flustered nervous a "oh no what is Sheen planning?" Nervous. She reluctantly responded. She had already said yes to this.

Okay. She had thought about putting dots at the end but decided not to. She'd just have to wait till seven. Where were they even going?  How long was it until seven? She checked the time on her phone. It was four forty five. She had some time to kill before tonight.

Did she have to take a shower? She decided against it due to the fact they'd be riding their bikes. Libby finished her homework, packed up, and started thinking about what to do.

-----------------------

Seven came fast and Libby geared up to leave. She had her helmet on, waiting at the end of the driveway. She was starting down the road in the direction Sheen lived. Hopefully he'd be here soon. Libby had changed into a purple tank top due to the heat of the lingering summer weather.

Quietly approaching, Libby heard what sounded like wheels crunching on asphalt. She looked up from looking down a bit and saw a shadow coming up the road. Of course she knew who it was. He soon reached the end of her driveway.

"Hey Libby, you ready to go?" Sheen said, a big grin on his face and was rather excited.

"Yeah I'm ready." She giggled. They started riding. "Do I at least get a hint."

"Nope," Sheen said from the front, still having a huge grin on his face.

-----------------------

The two were headed down a road. It seemed sort of like a highway to Libby. There were no cars though. Maybe a back road? Oh well. She kept following Sheen with the confidence he knew where he was going. She's even ask if they were lost and he would just say the same old thing: "Nope."

So down this road they went. Until Sheen turned onto a dirt road. They had been out for a good thirty minutes. Libby's legs were aching, but she kept going. Suddenly Sheen stopped at this big, thick pole. Libby was completely baffled at this point. Where were they? What were they doing here? Why were they at this pole? And why did Sheen drag her here for this? She took her helmet off and shook her hair. She wasn't being subtle anymore. "Okay Sheen, where are we and what are we doing here?"

Sheen turned around, still smiling like a mad man. He grabbed her arm, throwing his helmet down as well, and started running toward the pole. "Just follow me." He called from the front. Libby was not about to play these games.

"Sheen why are we running toward this gigantic pole?" She yelled. "Which, in case you didn't know, I still don't know what it is! Or why we're even here! And I'd appreciate it if you told me what is going on!" Libby said rather sternly. She took her hand out of his grasps and started running on her own. Looking at the giant pile that stretched over the trees, she could see that there was a latter that went up as well. They were climbing up that thing? Sheen this better be important. If not, I am so getting on you.

Libby sighed and reluctantly followed him. She really didn't want to be up this high. The more she went up the more she thought about it. But forced herself not to look down. It was a clique to look down anyway but she didn't. She knew it was for her own good. Sheen reached the top before her just above Libby. He smiled down at her and stretched a hand down. Libby took his hand and Sheen pulled her up the rest of the way.

"Now will you tell me..." Libby trailed off as she took in the scenery around her. There was an excellent view of the sunset. Not only that, but there was a breeze that made everything feel so.... magical. Libby was breath taken. She just stared. She was pretty sure her eyes were glowing.

"Well, what do you think?" Sheen said smiling at Libby. He could already tell what she though but wanted to hear her say it. His smiled had dialed down to a genuine one. To him, the beautiful thing here was her.

"The view....It's-It's-"

"Beautiful?"

"Yeah.." Libby stood mesmerized. From this height everything glistened in the light. Including her and Sheen. She honestly didn't have words.

"Well, in all honesty, chica, you're the most beautiful thing here."

"Oh Sheen stop. You're too sweet."

He reached over and hugged her. "No! I'm serious! You know, when this sunsets over we have to go home."

"Yeah. Darn it'll be dark." Libby looked down thinking of how dangerous that would be.

"I brought flashlights." Sheen smiled proudly. He was prepared for once.

"Sheen you think of everything." He chuckled.

"Sure." He kissed her cheek.

-----------------------

Sheen had ride home with her. They talked the entire way. Now that the sun was down it was cooler and cycling wasn't such a sure. The night would stick out in Libby's mind. Truest a great time with Sheen. He had really matured but was also the same. And Libby loved it.

They said their goodbyes and Libby went inside to her house. He mom asked her question which she answered. Endless comments over how cute they were arised. Libby secretly agreed but she rolled her eyes anyway. After dinner she took a shower and went to bed.

Truely a great day.
