End of the Day
The final bell rang for seventh period, Jimmy and Cindy left from science to leave. They had to go to the front of the school to wait for their rides. Of course Jimmy could just jet pack home, but he liked to stay with his friends.
As Cindy was walking Libby caught up with her. "Girl I have to tell you something." She looked nervous but also happy so Cindy couldn't really read the situation.
"What is it?"
"Well...me and Sheen were dating a couple weeks before the party. We just didn't tell anyone. I should have told you though." Cindy was shocked and ecstatic. She was so glad for her best friend. How could she be mad?
"Libby that's great! Why would I be mad? You didn't say that you thought I would be directly but I could tell from your tone and expression. What friend would I be if I couldn't read you?" Libby smiled.
"Thanks Cind, I knew you'd understand. You really are a mind reader!" Libby hugged her best friend. They reached the place they had to stay outside and they put their stuff down.
Soon Jimmy and his crew arrived. They talked about the normal plans of what to do after school and finishing homework. They set their stuff down next to the girls things.
"So meet me at the lab and we'll do homework and test those hover boards. Okay?" Jimmy asked glancing at his friends.
"Okay!" The two best friends cheered and sat down on the ground. Carl took out a book, and Sheen took out his old 'Ultrulord Edition Gameboy' to play video games. Libby eventually sat down next to Sheen, but not on the ground. She sat on her book bag-more lady like.
Cindy walked over to Jimmy, who was leaning against a pole holding up the covering of which they were standing under. He seemed to be hand calculating something. "Whatcha doing, Jimmy?"
"Just calculating some stuff for rocket upgrades. It's kinda hard to explain. Well it's just a lot to explain." Jimmy said, not looking up from his papers.
"Oh I get it, like altitude, aerodynamics, and body mass. Stuff like that?" Cindy said smirking at the genius.
"How did you-?"
"You're not the only smart kid in town, Neutron." She smiled wide. "What are you planing on upgrading?"
"Umm, the fuel tank's capacity, and I might make the wings longer. It gonna take a while cause the rockets gonna be heavier with the bigger fuel tanks and stuff."
"Hmm okay." Cindy said looking at the paper and listen to Jimmy. It was scribbled with numbers. Cindy was silent just standing by his side, looking out to the road and waiting to be picked up.
"So, what classes are you taking? You know the extra curricular ones?" Jimmy broke the silence, trying to make the atmosphere less awkward.
"I'm taking art two, video, and graphic art." Cindy replied proudly.
"Nice. I'm taking programming, science, of course, and graphic art. So we have one thing in common." Jimmy looked at her and briefly smiled. Cindy smiled back.
"Are you gonna do community service? Looks good for college you know." Cindy asked, still looking at Jimmy for a little while. She turned away after realizing how generally creepy what she was doing was.
"Actually, I had planned on it. Why?"
"I don't know. I was just wondering if anyone else was doing it. Me and Libby are gonna do some hours. Maybe one day me and you can band together one day?" Cindy looked at him again only for a second. He turned and smiled at her.
"Sounds like a plan, Vortex." Jimmy put away his papers into his book bag and slung the bag around his back. "Welp, I gotta go! Mom's here. See ya' later Cindy!" He started walk no to his family's car.
Cindy sighed and smiled "Yeah, see ya' later." Libby walked up behind her friend. Her book bag on her back too.
"Girl you are so in love." Cindy jumped back. She blushed seeing as her friend heard her last sentence. She probably noticed her and Jimmy talking too.
"Yeah whatever Libby!" Cindy crossed her arms and turned away. Libby giggled.
"Well, I gotta go. My moms here too. I'll text you later!" Libby started walking away to her car as well.
"Okay. Bye," Cindy waved. She was starting to get lonely. She looked around for her other two friends. Though they weren't as close, they were still friends. When she turned around she noticed the other two boys were gonna as well. Cindy looked toward the road to wait for her ride. Alone this time.
Fortunately, she saw her Mom pull into the parkway to pick her up. Cindy smiled at finally being able to head home. She grabbed her stuff and headed toward the automobile that was slowly approaching.
Cindy climbed into the front seat, and her Mom greeted her. "Hey sweetie! How's was the first day of Tenth grade?" Cindy sighed once again.
"Pretty mediocre for a first day of school. The normal greeting of teachers and finding classes. Nothing special. We did take some notes for class though."
"Hmm. Sounds normal to me! Got any homework?"
"Yeah only a little. Shouldn't be hard."
"Okay. Well you want anything to eat or something like that?"
"No thanks Mom I'm good." Cindy's mom was so sweet. To her, she was the best.
"Well what about that Neutron boy? Any progress on him?" She took that back.
"Mom! What the heck? How do you know if I even like him?"
Her Mom snickered. "Cindy your my daughter. I'm not clueless. So?"
"Well, he's not bending over backwards for me, but he is being really sweet. We danced at that party last night. He looked cute and was....so nice." Cindy quietly smiled to herself and blushed only a little. Jimmy really was a great guy.
"Oh~! Sounds like progress to me! I'll stop embarrassing you now. Hope things progress!" With that her mom turned up the radio and progressed home. Cindy pulled out her phone. She stared at the screen not really planning on doing anything at first. She just kept thinking about Jimmy and his sweetness.
After regaining her surroundings, Cindy clicked on the text icon. And clicked on Libby's contact. She texted this: Girl you will not believe what my Mom just said.
