Discipline

Jack managed to track Tracer down and drag her to the detention center, where he was set to interrogate her.

"What has gotten into you? Why in the world would you act so foolishly?" Jack said, calmly folding his arms.

Tracer avoided eye contact, frowning. "Gabe isn't the same... he's not the person I used to know."

"Yes he is! Sure he's been traumatized and completely altered, but he's still the same person on the inside. He just has trouble controlling the darkness within him." Jack argued, leaning forward.

"That's the thing! He's unstable! For all I know, he could just snap one day and hurt someone! I don't want you in harms way." She growled, turning away.

"I love him, Lena! You can't ignore that! I am willing to put myself in harms way to help him cope! You wouldn't understand." Jack muttered, looking away.

"You're right, I'll never understand you and your stupid ideas..." Tracer huffed, standing up and storming away.

Jack sighed, laying his head on the table. The rush of emotions hit him and he started to cry from the stress. He sat there for a couple minutes, regaining his composure and calming down.

Finally, he stood up and sighed. He wiped his face and decided to go check on Gabe. That would make him feel better.

-In the Medbay-

Jack walked into the Medbay, glancing around for Angela.

"Psst, Jack!" She whispered, pointing to the back room. She was hiding behind her desk for some odd reason.

Jack looked at her, tilting his head. "What's wrong? Why are you hiding?"

"He lost control again. While he was out, he must've had another nightmare. He's in the back room, he needs help.." She sighed.

"Thank you for telling me. Don't worry." Jack nodded, cautiously approaching the back room.

He heard loud sobs and peered through the doorway, spotting Gabe in the corner. He slowly opened the door, it creaking a little.

Gabe tensed up, hiding his face. "No! Stay away... I'll hurt you if you come closer.." he sobbed, hugging his knees close to his chest.

"Gabe, it's me. You don't need to be afraid." Jack whispered, slowly getting closer.

"Yes I do! I can't control myself anymore! These stupid nightmares keep haunting me! They won't leave me alone!" Gabe growled.

"You will never hurt me. I love you and I'll never leave you alone. We can work on this together."

Gabe sniffed, glancing nervously over at Jack. "Y-you will?"

Jack nodded, sliding up beside Gabe and holding him close. He felt him relax and sighed happily.

"See? There's nothing to be afraid of. Everything is going to be okay." Jack soothed, stroking Gabe's back gently. "Hey, I've got an idea."

Gabe pressed his head against Jack's chest and sighed heavily. "What?"

"How about I get us some ice cream? That'll make you feel better."

"You would do that for me?" Gabe said, sitting up and wiping his face.

"I would do anything for you." Jack smiled, helping Gabe stand up. "Let's go back to our room so you can change into some comfy clothes. I'll put on a movie that you can watch while I'm gone."

Gabe chuckled, holding Jack's hand as they walked out of the room. Angela stood up and smiled at the two, watching them as they left.

When they got to the room, Gabe changed into sweatpants and a sweatshirt. Jack put on Pacific Rim, one of Gabe's favorite movies, and grinned, leaving him to watch it while he got the ice cream.

-An hour later-

"I'm back with the ice cream, my love." Jack said, carrying a container of chocolate peanut butter ice cream.

"How did you know my favorite?" Gabe asked, making room on the bed for Jack.

"You aren't the only one getting up for a midnight snack. And you aren't exactly the stealthiest." Jack chuckled, bringing out two spoons.

"Whatever, at least I'm not as clumsy as you!" Gabe laughed, taking a spoonful of ice cream out and eating it.

"Fine, I'll give you that. Now hush so we can watch the movie." Jack smiled, leaning up against Gabe's shoulder and eating some ice cream.

Soon, the movie was over and the ice cream was gone. Gabe stretched his arms, yawning loudly.

"Jack, I just want to thank you for everything you've done. It's been a long time since someone has been this nice to me." Gabe smiled, looking at Jack.

"No problem, it's the least I could do." Jack said, yawning as well. "I'm ready for bed, are you?"

"Yeah, I'm exhausted." Gabe propped up the pillow and lay back on it, sighing.

"Goodnight." Jack said, kissing Gabe on the cheek.

Gabe blushed and hugged him. "Goodnight."

The light turned off and they went to sleep hugging each other.
