Chapter 5

The next morning, Logan was up much before Angelica. He and Hank had met up in the lab to do some more research and find more mutants that needed saving. "Got anything, Hank?" Logan asked as he walked in.

"Yeah," Hank said, typing away at a computer for a moment. "There's a family of ten, don't ask how I know that specific number, that lives in the country. Whenever they come across a mutant, they kidnap them and lock them in their basement. Apparently they despise us mutants and want to "put away" with as many as possible. There's already been four mutants, but we don't know how many to truly expect. I told Charles about all of it."

"What'd he say?" Logan asked.

"He wants you and another mutant to go release them and offer them sanctuary here," Hank said. "And then deal with how you see fit with the ones that refuse to join. I'm sure most of them are harmless, but..."

"You can never be too sure. Who'd he say could come with? I'm sorry, but I ain't takin' a roadtrip with laser boy," Logan said. Hank chuckled softly at Logan before shrugging.

"He said you can bring whoever you want," Hank said. "Whoever you think you'll work best with. I'm sorry, Logan, but I can't join you if you were thinking of me. I'm booked all week."

"Not to break ya heart, but I wasn't thinkin' of ya," Logan smirked a little, knowing exactly who he would like to come with him. "Do I gotta go talk with Chuck to know when I'm leavin'?"

"No, you're leaving around noon," Hank explained. "May I ask who you're choosing?"

"Well, Angelica's been itchin' to get outta here, I can tell. Besides, you're the best person I work with, 'sides Kurt," Logan said. "And I work well with her, considerin' we have the same thoughts 99% of the time."

"Oh, I forgot about her. She's very secluded from everyone, I hope she comes out more. She seems kind," Hank smiled at Logan. "Well, I'll see you later, Logan. I've got to get back to work."

"See ya, Blue." Logan started his walk up to Angelica's room. He knocked once. Then twice. And finally he was too impatient and walked in.

Angelica was under three blankets, snuggled into a pillow, and snoring. Logan snickered a little before grabbing a pillow off the chair. He, being an idiot, slammed it into her body as hard as he could. She let out a yelp and grabbed his wrist, her claws coming out as she pinned him to the bed. "Jimmy? You're as stupid as you look for waking me up like that!" She said, her claws retracting as she turned away from him, pulling the blankets over herself again. She was not a morning person, unlike Logan.

Logan chuckled and sat up. "I knocked on your door and I walked in. If you weren't so asleep you wouldn't have been scared. Besides, I need you for a mission," he smirked. Then he felt his face being hit with a pillow.

"Shut up, I can sleep however I want," Angelica said, snickering as Logan pushed the pillow from his face. "Gimme thirty minutes to get dressed and wake up."

"We leave at noon."

"Wait, wait, wait. What's this mission about?" Angelica asked, grabbing Logan's arm as he got up.

"A bunch of mutants are being held captive in the countryside. I try not to ask for details, Angel, sometimes it makes the mission harder," Logan said.

"It's also something we could use. I'll meet you in the training room." Angelica gave him a sharp smack over the back of his head. "That's for waking me up like that."

"Not sorry," Logan snickered, getting up to leave. Angelica kicked his knee out from under him and he collapsed, earning laughter from the elder. "Bitch- ow!" He whined when Angelica gave him a harsh kick once more, this time to his back.

"Call me a bitch again and it won't be pain you feel next time," Angelica warned as she got up out of bed. Logan chuckled and walked out of her room, rubbing his head where her hand had given him a good cuff.

Thirty minutes later, Angelica joined him in the training room. Kurt and Bobby were training with Kitty when she walked in, but there was no Logan to be found. She decided to watch the spectacle while waiting for him.

"Kurt! Help me!" Kitty yelled as Bobby iced over a dummy.

"You can phase yourself through," Kurt said, teleporting to dodge another tentacle that was coming for him. He popped up on another tentacle.

"What? From this height? No! Just teleport me out!" Kitty ordered.

"You're an X-Man, figure it out," Kurt smirked as he teleported away.

Just then, Logan came out of the men's locker room. Angelica chuckled. "Took you long enough, princess," she teased as she dodged a laser beam and a blast of ice like it was nothing. "It's fun to watch the kids train though. I'm not gonna lie, Kurt's my favorite," Angelica whispered to Logan as they left the training room.

Logan chuckled and rolled his eyes. "He's all cute and cuddly till ya get on his bad side. Then it's not very fun," Logan grumbled. Angelica chuckled softly.

"It's your fault that you got on his bad side, Jimmy," she said as they arrived to the jet. Charles was waiting on them. "Hello Professor."

"Hey Chuck, whatcha got?" Logan asked.

"Here's a file containing everything you need to know about the family and a bird's eye view of the house. Hopefully that'll help," Charles said, handing Angelica a file. She immediately looked through it, nodding.

"We'll probably be scopin' the place out for a day or two. Wouldn't wanna get ourselves in a mess we couldn't get out of," Logan replied. "It never hurts to be thorough."

"And that is exactly why you and Angelica are perfect for this mission," Charles smiled at them. "Alright, I won't keep you anymore. Go on, I expect to know how the mission went when you return."

"Yes sir" and a grunt were the response Charles got from the siblings as they boarded the jet. Forge ran on to pilot them, since Angelica didn't know how to fly a jet and Forge really liked flying. He was like a kid in a candy shop when he was in the air.

"Alright, Jimmy, family of ten, easy," Angelica said. "Right? Or are you out of practice?"

"I will body slam you," Logan warned, getting a scoff. "Yeah, easy. It's the fact that some of them mutants may not be that happy to see us. Some of 'em may not be safe to be released."

Angelica smirked. "Well, we'll cross that bridge when we get there."
