Chapter 8
Two months. That's how long I was living with Scarlett. For the past six weeks I went to the public school, near our apartment. We had renovated my room, so now the walls were painted in yellow and next to the window was a winged chair. Next to the door we had set up a small shelf with some books that I had to read for school. Right now we were reading 'The book thief' by Marcus Zusak, which was still laying on my bedside table. I would've to take that to school today. "Lottie. Breakfast is ready." Shouted Scarlett from downstairs. I grabbed the book, threw my backpack over my shoulder and ran downstairs. "Good morning." I gave her a warm smile and she smiled back, kissed my forehead and set a table down in front of me. "Good morning baby. Did you sleep well?" I nodded and started to eat the Pancakes that were now standing in front of me. "Nightmares?" I shook my head. It was true since, I had started talking to my therapist and talked to Scarlett every now and then after a nightmare, I had less nightmares. "I'm glad." She smiled and also started eating. I smiled back and continued to eat. "Did you pack everything for today?" "Yeah. I had almost forgotten the book thief. Will you drive me or do you want me to walk?" "Is it okay, if you walk? I'll pick you up later, we have to pick up some things afterwards. We have to get some stuff before the Promo and the Reshoots. We're flying next week after all." I smiled and nodded. "I'm so excited to see the others again. I mean we've got the group chat and stuff, but I still really miss them." Scarlett nodded. "Yes I understand. I mean we're more than costars. We're like family." I nodded agreeing. The clock showed twenty minutes after seven and I got up to get ready. "Hey uhm Scar. I have to go in a bit, like five minutes, if I want to be on time." She nodded a little and also got up. I vanished into the bathroom, where I finished getting ready, before I slipped into my shoes and hackey in the hallway. Back in the kitchen I grabbed my bag and the Lunchbox, which Scarlett had prepared for me. "Bye. I'll see you later." I said quickly and pressed a kiss onto her cheek. She laughed and gave me a quick hug. "I hope you have a great day." I nodded and left the apartment. Twenty minutes later I was standing in front of the gate to my school. "Hey Char." A small Strawberry Blonde came running towards me. She laughed and hugged me. "Hey Aves." In the last two month, I had become friends with Avery and Pressley. Both of them were in my grade and they both had a lot of the same courses as me, which was the main reason why we met and became friends. "Have you seen Pes?" She shook her head and together we looked around for the blonde. "Hmm well, I still have to go to class. I mean maybe she's just late once again." I said and Avery nodded. Together we walked towards the first class of the day. Geography. The current topic was plate tectonics, not really interesting. Avery and I sat down in the mostly filled classroom. Even the teacher was already there, he started writing stuff down on the chalkboard. Shortly before the bell rang Pressley came running. She let herself fall down on the chair behind me. "Oh my God. I thought I'd be late." She gasped for air, while pulling her book out of the bag. I laughed and gave her a smile, while our teacher started his ninety minutes monologue. He talked to himself and noted stuff down on the chalkboard every now and then, that we could then copy, but then luckily the bell rang. "I thought the class would never end." Pressley sighed, and we left the room together. I nodded agreeing with her, leaning my head back. Geography was always the worst lesson, since it was just classical teacher centered lessons. "It wasn't that bad." Avery said. "Well you like Geography." I answered, rolling my eyes. "Whatever guys. I've got French now. What do you have? Politics?" Pressley asked and we nodded. Pressley said goodbye and vanished into the chaos of the students. While we went in the other direction, where we were greeted by our politics teacher, who was also on the way to class. Immediately we got asked if we had kept up with current politics, which we of course definitely did. As he went into the classroom we shared a small glance, trying not to laugh out loud. As always the class started with some poor guy giving a report about the current politics. Today it was a guy named Easton. He was doing pretty well till the teacher asked questions, but then he started struggling. Then the real lesson started, meaning talking about the homework. Then reading a text and analyzing a small cartoon, regarding today's lesson. Today the lesson was about the aging society and that it led to Milieus being formed. Politics had always been an interest of mine, so it wasn't really hard for me. "Okay. The lesson is almost over. I'd like to know some of your opinions." When he realized that most of us didn't really have an opinion, he got this typical teacher mad. But luckily before the situation escalated the bell rang and now it was lunch break, meaning the three of us would meet up close to the library, before we'd it somewhere outside. "Come let's go. Pes is probably waiting for us." Avery started pulling me with her. As always we sat down on one of the benches close to the school grounds and started eating. "How was French?" I asked Pressley, who just groaned. "As always. What What you expect. This woman hates me and apart from me nobody does anything for the lesson. It's just annoying. Politics?" "Nahh it was alright. The topic was okay, but it's still politics." The other two started laughing as they nodded. "You do realize that, the Trailer comes out at the end of the week? The one for the new Marvel movie. I'm so excited and the fact that one of my best friends plays in it." Avery started to act like a total fangirl, making me laugh. I had told the two that I was an actress and would be in the upcoming movie and that I would have to go away for promotion and reshoots, so they'd sent me the schoolwork and tell me all the other things going on. "Well I'm more excited about Sims 4 coming out. Sorry Char." I laughed and gave Pressley a smile. "True though. Me too. I mean Sims 3 was already amazing, meaning Sims 4 is gonna be amazing." I smiled and the other two nodded. Ever since the two of them had introduced me to the world of Sims I had been just as addicted as the other two. Scarlett was sometimes making fun of me for it, but I knew she was glad that I had found people I liked and was acting like a normal teenager. "The break is almost over. What do we have after this?" I asked the other two. Even after six weeks I didn't know my lessons. "You guys have Philosophy and I have religion." Avery said and I nodded. Philosophy was my favorite class. Not only because it was interesting, but also because there was this one girl in my class. I had known that I wasn't really straight for years, but I still didn't know what I was, just knew that I wasn't straight. Up until now I hadn't told anybody, but if I ever knew for sure then I'd tell Scarlett. "Come on, we gotta get back to class." Avery was right. In five minutes the lessons would start. In philosophy I was sitting behind Lynn. A really tall black haired girl, she had absolutely beautiful piercing green eyes and she was such a sweet and nice person. We had talked a few times when we worked together and every time we had a lot of fun. But today we just said our hellos, before the lesson started. Our current topic was world religions and today it was about the Islam, last lesson had been about the Christianity and next lesson would be about Judaism. Afterwards there'd be small presentations about religions, but since I wasn't there anymore when they were happening, I wouldn't have to do one. The lesson was over pretty fast, not only because the teacher was able to make the lesson fun and interesting, but also because Marco was in our class and he continued to make meaningless and fun contributions to the lesson, making us laugh. Finally the day was over and together Pressley and I walked to the exit. "I'm picked up, so I'll see you tomorrow." I told her and she nodded smiling. After a quick hug I ran across the parking lot to Scarletts car and got into the passenger's seat. "Hey Scarlett." I greeted the older woman. "Hey Lottie. How was your day?" I smiled at her and nodded happily. "Pretty good." "Okay wanna go shopping right away?" I nodded and started telling Scarlett everything that had happened today. While I was talking she started smiling and in contrast to my father she asked me questions and asked for context and details and I knew that it was because she was genuinely interested in me and my life.
