What I See is Unclear
Having fought the Ninja aboard the Destiny's Bounty, Morro got a vague idea of who exactly the Saviours of Ninjago were. With the staff of the FSM, he now sets off to decode the first clue and recover the first artifact. But little did he know, the Ninja are doing the exact same thing.
--------------------------
"What are you doing?" Kai shouted to his friends, who were still staring at the spot that Morro had been only moments ago. "We have to go after them!"
"Kai, he's on an elemental dragon," Cole groaned, standing up and carefully holding his wrist.
"And he can control the wind." Jay added, slumping his shoulders in defeat. "He's probably already gone."
The Fire Ninja gripped at his hair, for once not caring that the carefully-shaped spikes were being flattened, before he strode into the ruined tea shop. "He has Lloyd!" he exclaimed, a twinge of anger present in his voice. Though he tried to hide it from his friends, his sister noticed.
"Yes, we know, brother," Nya followed him, gently placing a hand on his shoulder. "And we will get him back."
"The most logical thing to do in this situation would be to plan our next course of action," Zane said as he ran his internal processor through all the possible scenarios. "And according to my calculations, and the probability of success in each scenario, the best plan would be to go after Morro."
"Yes!" Kai let out a cheer. He glanced at his friends, his face falling when he noticed that they were giving him confused looks. "What? It's the best plan, Zane said so!"
"Have you just forgotten how Morro completely wiped the floor with us?" Cole asked. "He threw me into a wall."
"He threw all of us into a wall," Jay corrected. "It was worse than Sensei's training course--oww!" He rubbed his arm, giving Sensei Wu a sheepish look. "Sorry, Sensei."
"Focus guys!" Kai insisted. "Let's get on the Bounty and we'll catch Morro!"
"Kai..." Nya started, but he was already gone. With a sigh, she followed him, the other Ninja in tow. It was suicide, trying to get Lloyd back with no plan in mind other than "go after Morro", but she will admit that he was determined.
Ninja really didn't give up.
***
Morro gripped the reins tightly, his elemental dragon giving a roar of complaint every time he tugged it too hard.
"Sorry, girl," he murmured, lightly patting the Wind Dragon. "It's those Ninja, and this bothersome child that keeps trying to break free."
The dragon roared again, this time turning her head to give him a "really?" look. Her glowing red eye, despite being pupiless, showed clear exasperation and annoyance, and rightfully so. Morro had been ranting about the Ninja for the past hour; how they were such disappointments, and how if they were properly trained by Sensei, as he put it, they would've been able to hold their own against him.
"I mean, even some of my friends, who were no doubt younger than them, could hold their own against me." he rambled. "Granted I won in the end, like I always did, but still."
The dragon let out a soft hiss, as if to say I never asked for your life story, Morro, nor do I care for it.
"I appreciate the support, Zephyr." he sighed.
Your dragon's name is Zephyr? he heard Lloyd ask. He imagined the boy would be smiling with mischief, as if the subject was something amusing. Isn't that a boy's name?
Really? Morro thought with annoyance. In your current predicament, your only concern is "Gee, Morro, you named your dragon Zephyr?" Sometimes I question the way you ninja prioritize things.
You still didn't answer my question.
Morro chose to ignore the Green Ninja, and instead focused on the destination. He had the staff - it was tied to a rope and slung over his back - and he just needed a place where he could analyze those symbols in depth and in more detail.
He suddenly felt a shift in the wind; as if something, or someone, was following him. Turning around, his eyes darted along the horizon, searching for any suspicious activity.
Wait, I'm in the middle of the air, he thought with confusion. Who could possibly be--
Lights shone directly in front of him; sure it was still really far away, but it was growing brighter with every passing moment. The wind shifted again, and this time, Morro could feel it blowing past several figures. He closed his eyes and exhaled sharply through his nose; it was the Ninja.
They really don't give up, do they, he thought as he had Zephyr hover in mid air while he tried to figure out how to temporarily incapacitate the Ninja to prevent them from following him and by extent, preventing him from completing his mission.
They're gonna kick your butt, Lloyd's voice echoed within his mind.
Well, thanks for that, Lloyd, Morro replied. Because if they want a fight that bad, I'll take it to them. Tugging at the reins, he turned his dragon towards the incoming light.
***
The wind blew past him in great gusts, yet it seemed to follow him, as if sensing that he was the one in control. Good, he thought as he neared the light, realizing that it was actually a flying ship. With this big of a windstorm, I'll no doubt have the upper hand.
"It's Morro!" he heard someone on the ship yell. It was one of the ninja.
Jay? Lloyd asked. Don't hurt my friends!
Morro rolled his eyes; Lloyd's seemingly never ending pleas for him to not hurt his friends were getting old, and he continued to steer his dragon in the direction of the ship. He soared above the boat, noticing the colour-coded Ninja running around, the blue one running to a cannon, the silver, black, and red ones each arming themselves with weapons. He could even see the girl, steering the ship, but his former Sensei was nowhere in sight.
This'll be fun, he thought to himself, making Zephyr fly upside down above the ship. Dispelling his dragon, he landed on the deck, crouched down with his palms bracing the wood.
He stood, his tattered, black cape flapping about in the violent gales, his eyes gleaming with twisted excitement. Twin swords made of the same, ghostly-looking metal that the Preeminent's generals wielded appeared in his hands, perfectly balanced, the jagged blades sharpened to a point.
"Hello, Ninja," he greeted, voice dripping with malice. "Did you miss me?" He was aware that he had only left the tea shop an hour ago, maybe two if he really pushed it, but he moved that thought out of his mind.
"Aw, we have to fight him again?" the blue ninja asked. It was the same voice that yelled "It's Morro!" earlier.
This one is Jay, Morro thought, committing the name to memory.
"At least we have more weapons this time," Kai snarled, twirling his katana in his hands. "He won't stand a chance."
"Confident, are we?" Morro asked calmly, a smile, hidden by his face mask, stretched across his lips. "Let's see how good you are!"
The Fire Ninja lunged at him, swinging his sword wildly. Morro easily blocked, sidestepped, and ducked under every attempt made to hurt him. Bringing his blades up in the shape of an X, he blocked Kai's sword from splitting his skull open.
"Now!" Kai yelled, never taking his eyes off of Morro.
Footsteps sounded and the air shifted; the Master of Wind knew of the attack before it came. He dropped to the deck, feeling the whoosh of the nunchucks flying across where his torso had been only moments ago. He heard a pained "Owww!" and smirked.
Suddenly straightening up, he blasted wind in all directions, blowing the Ninja back. He scoffed at them, snapping his fingers and summoning his dragon. "Ninjago has you as her saviours?" he laughed, noticing that they were now glaring at him. Kai held the staff in his hands while Jay, the black ninja, and the silver ninja each held expressions of anger. "Pathetic."
That's when his mind registered the fact that Kai held the staff. He blinked, feeling around his back for the bamboo stick only to come up with nothing. "What?" he hissed.
"Looking for this?" the black ninja asked, pointing to the staff in Kai's hands. The Fire Ninja waved it almost as a taunt, which only further infuriated the ghost.
"GIVE ME THE STAFF!" Morro screamed, lunging at them. The Ninja scattered, with Kai disappearing down a stairwell.
"Sensei!" the red ninja called. "Zane and I will get you to our cabin, we got the staff!"
"Jay, Cole, you two hold him off." the silver one, Zane, shouted as he too, disappeared down the stairs.
"Ugh, why do we get the difficult job?" Cole complained, though he twirled his scythe around in preparation for any attack.
"Yeah, we didn't fare so hot last time!" Jay added. "Why's that we have to fight him?"
"Because I'm the intelligent one!" could be heard faintly below the deck.
"Alright, let's take this guy!" Jay twirled his nunchucks as he and Cole faced off against Morro.
The Master of Wind laughed, raising a hand and making a tornado whirl across the deck. "You think you can beat me?" he screamed in his raspy, echoey voice. "NO ONE is better than me!"
"You talk almost as much as Jay!" Cole exclaimed, spinning his scythe and blocking one of Morro's blades. "And I don't mean that as a compliment!"
"Hey!" Jay exclaimed indignantly. "I don't talk that much!"
Without saying another word, Morro blasted the two Ninja across the deck, leaving the stairwell entrance unguarded. "Saviours of Ninjago," he muttered as he descended the stairs, the slightly raised heel of his boots clicking against the polished wood. "What a disappointment."
Finding the red and silver Ninja weren't hard; they were shouting pretty loudly, which led Morro right to them.
"Give me the staff," the Master of Wind hissed. He held out a hand, as if assuming that he would get the staff handed over to him.
"Never!" Kai growled. He lifted the katana in front of him, ready to strike a blow or defend himself.
"Go, Sensei!" Zane shouted, drawing two shurikens. "We'll hold him back!"
With an annoyed sigh, Morro called upon the wind and faced the two Ninja who were only mere nuisances in his eyes. A loud yell came from his right and he barely dodged. Kai crashed into the wooden cabin walls and groaned, but he picked himself up and swung his katana, using it surprisingly well despite the corridor being narrow. Zane threw his shurikens, the bladed stars flying past Morro and slicing through his shoulder.
Morro hissed, clutching his shoulder before flinging a strong gust of wind at the two Ninja. The both hit the walls and he took that chance to run. He had no idea where the Ninja's cabin was, but he figured that he would eventually find it.
He threw open a door, only to find two square boxes with circular doors. Wrinkling his nose with confusion, he poked around the room, only to jump back when one of the boxes let out a loud chime. He quickly left the room, slamming the doors shut. A gust of wind blew through the ship; a last effort for him to locate the staff.
"Morro."
He whirled around, a small cyclone spinning around in his palm as he faced his former Sensei.
"Sensei!" he let an expression of false happiness and delight across his features. "Lovely to see you again."
"Morro, I don't want to fight you," the old man pleaded. "Give Lloyd back to us, you don't have to do this."
"No, I'm afraid you misunderstand, Sensei," Morro spat condescendingly. "I must do this. Or have you forgotten what had happened the last time you tried to convince me otherwise?" He could still remember how the hurricane tore through the monastery; how years worth of architecture and artifacts were most likely destroyed in his rage; how he had injured nearly all of his former friends and fellow students, all with the hope that his sensei had been wrong; that he could be and was the Green Ninja.
"Give me the staff," he said sharply, the wind blowing past harder than ever. Planks of wood dislodged, revealing a gaping hole at the side of the ship, leading to a fall of at least a hundred meters. "Or would you rather your precious students pay for something that should require no casualties?" He slashed his hand across his chest, forcing and shaping the wind into a rope-like form. Kai and Zane were caught by surprise, both taken back by the powerful display of elemental powers, and were pushed closer to the jagged hole. "One more push, and they'd be gone." The two Ninja struggled against the strong winds, pushing back with all their might, but Morro never yielded. "Time's ticking, Sensei."
Something long flew past his head, impaling into the wood just above the hole. Morro whirled around in anger, temporarily losing concentration on his struggle with Kai and Zane. He spotted the girl, a curved blade in her hands, her body protected by a helmet and chestplate as she charged at him.
"Do you ever give up?" he sighed with what appeared to be slight disappointment. He dodged the swipe of the girl's blade and kicked her back, throwing out one hand to force the wind to condense into a cage around her. Then he returned his attention back to the Ninja and his sensei.
"You want the staff, Morro?" Sensei Wu finally asked, stepping forward with the staff in his hands. Morro smiled cruelly and held out his hand. "Then take it!" The staff was thrown past him, tumbling out of the hole and disappearing almost instantly.
"You foolish old man, what have you done?" Morro screeched, abandoning all rational thought as he dived out of the ship, summoning his dragon in mid air and flew around frantically. "Where is it?" he muttered to himself as he had Zephyr fly around. "WHERE IS IT??" The rain that poured down from the sky didn't help his temper, nor did it make things easier for him. He sighed, closing his eyes and feeling around the landscape through the wind. A long, thin bamboo stick, he thought as he made the wind shift and churn in different directions. Literally, it's a stick. It's a fucking bamboo stick, why is it so hard to find?
His dragon suddenly did a sharp dive, her claws extended as she snatched something out of the air. With a graceful flick, the staff was tossed up and landed in Morro's lap. He smiled for the first time in what felt like forever and loosened his control over the elements.
"Thank you, Zephyr," he murmured, patting the glowing scales. "Now, let's find someplace to read this thing. Properly."
***
Morro spotted a lonesome building, practically in the middle of nowhere if he didn't notice the road that led to it, or the few houses built here and there within the same vicinity. He landed his dragon, snapping his fingers to dispel her, and walked toward the building that had caught his eye.
It was a simple, two storey building with round windows, a double-door entrance, and bright glowing lights like those outside the Ninjago Museum. The chatter of the patrons inside grew louder as he neared and he cringed inwardly at the thought of being surrounded by a bunch of strangers. He knew it sounded ironic, as he had literally fought a bunch of strangers only moments earlier (the fact that they were also Sensei Wu's students and the Saviours of Ninjago didn't play a part in his mind). He collected his thoughts and pushed the doors open, making a gust of wind blow around inside.
He effectively caught the attention of the patrons within, most of which looked away as soon as they glanced over at him. He paid them no mind and walked around, taking in the interior of the building. It was just like the exterior; simple, but full of life, something he also wasn't used to anymore.
He found himself in front of a bar, with the shelves behind him laden with different drinks of various colours, glasses of all shapes and sizes, and corked bottles, most likely filled with even more drinks. The bartender spotted him, raised his eyebrow at his appearance, and promptly slid over a glass cup. It was filled with a honey-coloured liquid with some ice cubes floating around inside.
What in the name of the Cursed Realm is this? he thought with confusion as he picked up the glass, took a tensive sniff, and then drank the whole thing in one go. The liquid, despite being chilled by ice, burned his throat as it made its way to his stomach, where the burning feeling only spread. FSM, this is horrible! he thought, screaming internally. But on the outside, he smirked, to which the bartender asked, "Thirsty?" as if it had covered all other questions that could've been asked instead.
Morro had no idea how to respond to that, but he continued to play his facade. "Insatiable," he replied, letting his smirk grow before he sauntered off. The smirk dropped as soon as his back turned and he quickly scanned the inside of the building for a place to read the symbols on the staff more clearly.
FSM, you'd think that there would actually be some dust in here, but nope, he grumbled silently, forgetting momentarily that Lloyd could hear him.
It may be in the middle of nowhere, but at least they're respecting the health protocols, Lloyd piped up, sounding way less pleading and upset than before. In fact, he seemed almost giddy and happy. Maybe the honey drink had something to do with it.
I didn't ask you, Green Ninja, Morro thought as he stopped by a green table. There were glass balls and long sticks thrown on top of the velvet-like surface, and there were many people surrounding it. Some held the sticks and poked at the balls, which then rolled into different pockets that were placed at each corner. Good enough, he thought as he made his way in that direction.
He pushed some people aside, earning some growls and threats, but he ignored it. Using a small breeze, he created a dusty surface on which he rolled the staff across, revealing the symbols once more.
"Hey, kid!" a gruff voice exclaimed, interrupting Morro just as he was about to figure out the meaning of the first symbol. He looked up to meet the furious gaze of an older man with a sneer on his face. "You look a bit young for a place like this."
Morro rolled his eyes, knowing that it would most likely make the patrons angrier. "What I'm doing here is none of your business." he said as calmly as he could muster. "Why don't you leave if you have a problem with me?"
"Except it is our business now that you decided to talk back," another man spoke up, sounding just as annoyed as the first. The Master of Wind wanted to laugh; he hadn't had this much fun in a long while, even if said fun was further instigating the patrons until they were unable to think rationally. "You've got quite some nerve coming here if you don't have friends, if you know what I mean."
"Oh," Morro said quietly, making some of the patrons laugh while the two cracked their knuckles as if preparing for a fight. Then he smirked, more devious than ever as he said, "But I do have friends."
The Allied Armour of Azure glowed, making the patrons back away, muttering as they gave each other looks of confusion. A bright light exploded outward, knocking anyone in the vicinity back as a ghost appeared beside Morro. He stretched, shaking his head as he looked around, dark eyes glinting with malice, hands gripping tightly on a chain and flail that glowed with a sickly green colour. The ghost's head was wrapped in bandages, then covered by a tattered hood while the rest of his clothing was torn or falling apart at the seams.
"You summoned me?" the ghost rasped. He cleared his voice as if it would make the metallic echo go away and cocked his head to one side. "At last, Morro. Our queen grows impatient."
"Really, Wrayth?" Morro asked, sounding patronizing despite his seemingly gentle tone. "I summoned you first and this is what you say? Not even a thank you?"
"What is it, Morro?" Wrayth snapped, whirling on the younger ghost with anger burning in his eyes. "You summoned me into this...this place, and you desire a thank you?"
"Whatever," Morro spun in a circle, using Lloyd's ability to do Spinjitzu to create a giant, whirling cyclone within the building. It was enough to scare the patrons away, though with one glance from the Master of Wind, Wrayth floated toward them, brandishing his chain and knife.
"Better," he sighed, letting the gales die away as he strode toward the door, which had been blown wide open. "Let's get out of here. I know where I must go."
"And what of the others?" Wrayth questioned almost impatiently. "Are you not going to summon them as well?"
"Why would I?" Morro replied breezily. "I don't need them right now."
"The queen wouldn't be pleased to hear that."
"The queen isn't here."
With a snap of his fingers, his elemental dragon appeared, growling lightly, her tail swishing around impatiently. Zephyr's glowing red eyes focused on Wrayth and almost widened a bit. You summoned him? she seemed to ask.
"Nice dragon," Wrayth said, nodding with approval. "Now is this your own elemental dragon or did you manage to possess the Green Ninja's dragon as well?"
Morro hissed through his teeth and jumped onto the dragon's back. "It's my own dragon, Wrayth." he deadpanned. I think, he added silently. "I'm more than capable enough to summon my own elemental dragon." He gripped the reins tightly, dark blue chains rattling as he adjusted the length to his liking.
"Whatever the case, it's a nice ride." the other ghost said, jealousy evident in his tone.
The Master of Wind gestured to a row of motorcycles parked outside the bar. "Take one of your own, then," he said. "Now, I must go find the first clue. You make sure that no one interferes." His voice was condescending and disbelieving as he spoke, and though Wrayth couldn't see the bottom half of Morro's face, he knew that the corrupted Ninja was smirking with delight.
"Very well," the Chain Master said mockingly, even delivering an exaggerated bow. "As you wish."
Morro huffed and tugged on the reins, urging his dragon to fly away. From the ground, Wrayth floated to a motorcycle, the vehicle glowing for a moment before it transformed into a ghostly bike fitted with dark blades and powerful wheels. He sighed; it was nowhere near as impressive as Morro's Wind Dragon, but it would do nicely for his mission.
***
The flight was alright for the most part, if it weren't for Zephyr flying at a ridiculously slow pace.
"Come on, Zeph, you're a Wind Dragon!" Morro groaned, pulling on the reins. "Please fly faster? I have things to do." He tried to get the wind to push them along, but it did little to speed up the flying. "I might as well walk and it'll be faster."
As if angered by his words, the dragon suddenly sped up, zooming through the air toward a tall building in the distance.
"That's more like it!" the Master of Wind exclaimed, a look of determination etched on his face. "Come one, that's it! We're almost there!"
The Library of Domu was an impressive-looking building atop one of the tallest mountains that Morro had ever seen, with the Mountain of Impossible Height being the tallest. It had tall windows, many supporting pillars, and a tall set of double doors that led into the main atrium. Fires burned within braziers , casting a warm, golden light on everything despite it being the middle of the day. Morro had high hopes as he pushed the doors open, the wood hitting the walls behind them with a loud bang.
He was immediately disappointed.
Though the interior of the Library was beautiful; with tall, arching ceilings, windows that let in sunlight, and sconces lining the walls, glowing with firelight, it was empty. The main foyer-like area was just a circle of white marble and dark wood, with doors branching off to different parts of the building.
Morro sighed and rubbed his forehead with one hand while pushing a door open with another. This is going to be a total waste of time, he thought angrily as he walked silently past shelf upon shelf full of scrolls, books, and other ancient text. More than once, he fought back the urge to use his wind. He had no idea if the Library Keepers knew of the Green Ninja's possession, but he wasn't about to try his luck. It was already insane that he could walk around and destroy a tavern with the help of Wrayth and no one batted an eye (for the most part, at least).
Some monks came his way, asking if he needed help and he politely declined, his pride preventing him from even wanting to ask in the first place. It wasn't until he really couldn't find the scroll did he approach a monk hesitantly.
"E-excuse me," he muttered. "Where's the scroll of Airjitzu?"
"Oh, yes," the monk replied, seeming as if they were in a dream-like state. "Sensei Yang, creator of Airjitzu. His teachings will be missed, but his legacy will live on--"
Morro's patience slipped almost immediately and he snarled out, "I said, where's the scroll of Airjitzu?"
"Forgive me," the monk stammered. "It-it was stolen a few days ago."
"What?"
"A thief named Ronin stole it. His whereabouts are currently unknown."
Morro groaned and clutched at his hair. He heard Lloyd laughing with delight at his misfortune and pushed the voice aside.
"Right," was what he ended up saying and he turned to leave.
He had just reached the tall double doors when he was stopped by a few more Library Keepers.
"Wait, you're the Green Ninja, aren't you?" one of them asked.
Morro felt a stab of pride at the question, only to become angry when he realized that they were talking about Lloyd Garmadon. "Yes," he said, despite Lloyd's protests. "May I help you?"
"Can we get your autograph?" the other Keeper asked, holding out a pen and paper.
"Auto...graph?" Morro asked, feeling stupid for not knowing immediately what they were talking about.
Sign the paper, dummy, Lloyd could be heard muttering. Unless you want them to figure out that you're possessing me and--
Shut up.
Morro quickly scrawled Lloyd Garmadon across the paper in an elegant script. He handed the paper and pen back and was about to leave when the Keepers spoke again.
"Mind if we take a selfie with you?" the first Keeper asked, holding out a rectangle device.
"N--"
Click.
Morro blinked and growled with annoyance. "I must go," he hissed, pushing the doors open with a strong gust of wind. He tore down the steps of the mountain, ignoring the calls of the Keepers, who were most likely delighted that they had met the "Green Ninja".
He couldn't summon Zephyr, no matter how hard he tried, and after a few moments, he gave up. He wanted to get away from the Library; the little bit of social interaction was too much for him, and he had to find the scroll before the Ninja did.
Still want to be the Green Ninja? Lloyd asked teasingly. You seem rather...disoriented.
Morro chose to ignore the younger boy and continued on his way, opting to walk down the mountain rather than waste more time and energy trying to summon his dragon.
He had already lost too much time inside the Library.
***
The cave was dark, with the only source of light being the eerie, green glow of the campfire. Morro was tired; possessing a human body was more difficult than he initially imagined, and while he wanted nothing more than to not possess anyone (to save his energy), he needed Lloyd to find the Tomb of the First Spinjitzu Master. He rolled the staff across the dusty cavern floor, revealing the symbols once again.
A tornado, a sword, a skull. The only things that stood between him and reclaiming his rightful destiny. He sat down, closing his eyes and exhaling through his nose. He hadn't received word from Wrayth since his ally set off to stop the Ninja. Even the mental connection that the Preeminent had established for Morro and the other ghost generals didn't reveal anything of Wrayth's whereabouts.
WIth a sigh, he focused his energy on the Allied Armour of Azure. The chestplate glowed, lighting the stone walls so that the inside of the cave looked as bright as day. The light darkened to green, and four ghostly figures appeared before him.
"You summoned us, Morro?" Soul Archer asked. He narrowed his eyes, his mask crinkling as he frowned. "The queen grows impatient."
"Tell us," Bansha prompted, floating forward. "Have you acquired what's needed?"
"I'm trying to get the Scroll of Airjitzu," Morro snapped. He noticed Wrayth, hanging near the back of the group. "And Wrayth, what happened with the Ninja?"
"They poured water on me," the Chain Master mumbled quietly, almost ashamed with his words.
Morro scoffed and said, "You're one of the most feared generals of the Preeminent, and you're telling me that you were defeated by some colourful Ninja and water?"
"You know that water hurts us," Bansha argued, her voice rising in pitch, indicating her anger. "We're GHOSTS." The last word of her sentence was delivered in a scream, the sound echoing through the tunnels. A rumble and dull crash was heard somewhere in the distance.
"I'm not stupid," the Master of Wind hissed. "And I just need more time."
"Hurry up and find that time, then," Soul Archer murmured, his eyes focusing on the green campfire. "You wouldn't want to disappoint the queen, would you?"
Morro closed his eyes and nodded, too tired to argue as he laid his cloak on the ground to sleep on. He could almost hear Lloyd yawning, and maybe grumbling with discomfort at the thought of sleeping on an uneven surface, but he could care less. If he was to find the Scroll of Airjitzu and the Sword of Sanctuary, he would need all the rest that he could get right now. He knew that there would be little time to stop and replenish his energy along the way.
***
His dreams were plagued with green, yellow, and black.
Long tentacles, dragging him down to the ocean, the waters churning and swirling into a whirlpool. The Preeminent, dying and weak, hissed and screeched as she brought him closer to the water. The tip of his foot touched the waves and a burning pain shot up his leg. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't fly away. His powers...his powers were gone, as if he never had them to begin with.
:YOU FAILED: the Preeminent screamed, the raspy, echoing voice so loud it jarred him from his sleep. He swore he saw her singular, glowing eye, glaring at him from the dying embers of the campfire.
He breathed heavily, glancing around the now-dark cave. His ghostly allies were nowhere to be found, though the faint glow coming from the end of the tunnel indicated their presence.
Morro sighed with relief and ran a hand through his disheveled hair.
"It was just a dream." he murmured, turning over and falling asleep once more.

A/N:
I know that there aren't much canon divergence from the original show yet, but that's because all the ideas I have are for the later chapters/episodes. Like, I have so many ideas for Cursed World Parts 1 and 2. I'm writing most, if not all of this story in limited 3rd person POV, from Morro's perspective because in the actual show, we just see the Ninja, with occasional peeks at what the ghosts are doing. But it's also because Morro is my favourite Ninjago character so I might be a bit biased in that sense.
Anyways, I hope you enjoy this chapter!
