"I really just wanna run away and never look back at the people I've known."

I huddled into my sleeping bag in the alley.

Not the best place to settle down, but the sky was getting dark.

I was in the corner, hidden partially by the dumpster and the rest by my huge blanket that I had thrown over me to conceal myself.

Today I had made some good time, although I was still in the city.

Maybe tomorrow I could catch a train down to another state, or buy a bus ticket.

I was heading down to Texas. To do what, I didn't know, but get away from this place.

At sixteen, I could find a job (preferably at an engineering shop) and get some cash and live life, all that good stuff.

I looked up at the sky, not a star in sight.

I guess they were all hiding behind the orange city lights.

Sighing, I turned on my side and fell asleep.

___________

"Here he is!"

A loud yell woke me up.

I could see flashing lights. Uh oh. Time to go.

I quickly rolled up my sleeping bag and blanket and threw them into my backpack.

I put my hood over my head and casually walked out of the alley.

If I could get past these policemen I was free.

Too late, one of them spotted me.

"Over there! Hurry!"

I picked up my pace, running now.

Pedestrians strolled along, not batting an eye.

They were used to crime.

I pushed my way into a crowd of people and tried to keep my head down.

I didn't want to go back to some foster home or orphanage where they all acted like they cared about me. I knew that it was all fake. No one really wanted me there, the runaway kid. They all just plastered smiles on their faces, waiting for me to go away, to disappear like I always did. And me, I was fine with that. I made their wishes come true.

"Out of my way!"

Now there were at least five policeman after me.

I hastily ran through the crowd and into some antique store.

"Hello, welcome to-"

I shoved past the owner of the shop, and jumped over the counter in the back, sending pottery or something crashing to the floor. I wasn't going to pay for that.

"You brat!" The shopowner screamed. I guess they weren't so ready to welcome me now.

There had to be some sort of door behind here.

Aha! Shoving a shelf that held more pottery aside, I found the door.

I threw it open, and ran out into an alley.

There was no where to hide.

Behind me was just a dumpster, and in front, endless skyscrapers across a busy intersection.

On the left and right of the alley were just brick walls.

There was no way I would make it to somewhere else.

I was trappped.

Then I had an idea, a gross one.

I turned around and dove headfirst into the dumpster.

I threw down the lid as the door opened and the policemen ran out.

"Where'd the punk go?"

"He must have escaped."

"Crap! This kid is too much trouble."

"You guys go and look for him, I'll stay here in case I see him run back."

I heard footsteps pattering away.

The remaining policeman leaned on the trashcan, right beside where I was laying.

I held my breath, my heart pounding in my chest. Could he hear it?

All I had to do was play the quiet game, which I never was good at.

Then the lid of the trashcan opened.

The policeman and I were looking straight at each other.

AN

Hey guys!

Sorry I didn't post anything sooner.

And also my phone cracked which sucks, it's where I write chapters mostly.

It still works though.

And school starts back in four days?

I'm mostly excited, but I know I'll soon get bored.

I've been having band practice and I'm super excited for our half-time show this year.

Ooh, and one more thing. I found this ABSOLUTELY AMAZHANG anime called Beyond the Boundary.

Akihito is THE BEST ANIME CHARACTER EVER.

Okay I'm done now.

Yours in demigodishness, and all that. Peace out.
