Chapter 5

Chapter 5- no break in this job

I opened my eyes to see Creg looking down at me with curious eyes. I looked around; I was on a bed. I’m guessing I’m in Creg’s apartment. I didn’t know what to say.

“Care to explain?” Creg started.

“Explain what?” I asked stupidly.

“Everything, you can start by how you knew the guy that kidnapped us?” he said.

“I didn’t know him,” I replied looking down.

“How stupid do you think I am? Who was he?” I looked at him straight in that eye.

“Well, who was that guy with the mask and crazy blonde hair, huh? Care to explain that?!” I said glaring at him. He sighed.

“We can never have a descent conversation can we?” I laughed with no humor.

“Oh, I wonder why?” I cried out sarcasm flowing through my words. Now it was Creg’s turn to glare at me. My phone vibrated causing me to jump in surprise. I had completely forgotten it was in my pocket. Well at least that broke the awkward silence. I looked at it. I had gotten a text from boss.

Come immediately to headquarters. Sorrow is outside and will drop you off.

“I have to go,” I said and jumped out of bed.

“Where are you going?” Creg asked. I need to make something up, so he won’t follow me.

“Uh, bad cramps, I got to go!” I said and rushed outside. Wow, that was a really lame excuse. I walked out the door and saw Sorrow leaning against a tree.

“It’s about time,” she said and walked towards her car. I sighed and followed her. While we were driving she just stopped the car next to a park.

“It’s here?” I asked looking around, but seeing no building.

“Yeah, it’s here. There’s an invisible building right there,” Sorrow said pointing sarcastically. I sighed.

“Then why the hell did we stop here?” I asked my temper rising.

“I’m not allowed to know where headquarters is exactly located. My mom will call or text you with directions. It’s walking distance from here” she said. I was confused as to why she wasn’t allowed, but ignored it and got out of the car. After getting the directions, I went to the building. It looked like a normal business building. I looked at the street number; it must be this building. I entered and there was a secretary at a desk. I walked up to it.

“Hello, what may I help you with? Are you here for the insurance deal? We have got a new-,”

“Um no,” I interrupted.

“I’m Kate Demur. Can I speak with your boss?” I asked.

“I’m sorry, but she doesn’t just talk to random-wait Demur? Emine is that you?” I nodded in relief.

She picked up the phone and dialed some number.

“Mark can you come and take our newest guess up to boss? .... What do you mean you’re busy? … I don’t care if you’re on the last level, just pause it and get your lazy ass off of the damn couch … Think of it this way, you’ll actually get out of your room for once… Yes! Thank you, Mark.” She hanged up. There were two doors behind the desk. A guy, who I’m guessing is Mark, came out of the right one a couple minutes later. He had dark blonde hair that was spiked up making him look like he was electrified. He was wearing large, square glasses. He motioned for me to come through the door. I did. There were many desks with people in front of computers. We went to the far end and Mark opened a door. I walked in and saw boss sitting in front of her desk. She stood up when I came.

“We caught the guy who shot your uncle when you were kidnapped,” she said. I’m not even going to ask how they know that.

“I thought you might like to question him. He won’t speak. He only told us his name was Justin.”

********

I checked my watch. It’s been a hour, a whole bloody hour.

“For the last time, what were you doing there and why did you shoot him?” Only silence from him again. I groaned and let my head fall.

“Where did you learn your English?” I looked up in surprise. He talked!

“Excuse me?”

“You’re Georgian, but your English is pretty good. You have a slight accent but it’s cute,” he said surprising me more.

“I stayed in England for a couple of years,” I replied.

“Listen, please tell me who you are,” I said with pleading eyes.

“Justin,” he replied. I put my fist down on the table rather harshly.

“Aren’t you a bit young to be an officer?”

“I’m an agent.”

“Same shit.”

“How did you know I was Georgian?”

“I know many things,” he replied smugly.

“What is your name?” he asked me.

“I ask the questions here!” I yelled. I sighed afterwards.

“Emine Demur.”

“Apparently Creg doesn’t know many things though,” he said.

“What is that suppose to mean?” No answer from him. I stood up and got out.

“I give up, I’m sorry!” I said disappointed to boss.

“It’s fine. You got many things out actually. He knows who you and Creg are,” she said. I nodded.

“Oh Emine, I need one more thing for you to do for me. There’s a kid who recently escaped from jail; we tapped into his cell phone and found out he called Creg. They’re going to meet at a warehouse tonight. Follow Creg, maybe we can arrest him tonight if we catch him doing the dirty work.”
