Chapter 12: Snow

"Was getting into First Class hard?
What kinds of missions did you do?
Have you ever earned the Medal of Honor?"
(* >ω<)

Viktor's sister Veronica kept asking you so many questions, causing you to groan in response and cover your ears with pillows.
You, Viktor and Yuri were on your way to Russia where the Rostelecom Cup was being held, along with Veronica, who was now getting on your last nerves...
You wanted to tape her mouth shut so bad.
You whisper to Viktor while the energetic Russian girl kept talking.

"Why did we have to take her with us...?"
(;¬_¬)

"I can't just let my sweet sister go off on her own! Besides, more guests means more fun and excitement for the rest of us!"
(*^ワ^*)

"Well it's not exciting or fun for me..."
(ーー;)

You whisper to yourself as you then watch Yuri sleeping on your shoulder, drool slowly dripping down his chin...
You sighed and rub his mouth, clearing the drool away.
You then saw Viktor smirk out of the corner of your eye, same with Veronica.

"Oh knock it off you two..."
(−_−;)

They both giggle in response.
You looked out the window, watching the clouds float by and soon, you saw snow.
You haven't seen snow ever since coming back to Hasetsu, but it was no surprise to see snow here. It was a part of Russia after all and besides, it wasn't your first time going there either.
You had some missions here and they were depressing, you could still remember one of your squad member's blood pouring onto the white icy floor like cherry syrup on a snow cone...
After arriving and getting your luggage, Veronica was hugging Viktor, smiling and giggling with excitement.

"It's great to be home, right Viktor?"
\(^ ^)/

"It sure is, Veronica! Yuri! (Y/n)! Welcome to Russia!"
(*^▽^*)

"Now make me a f****** sandwich, fatso..."

You recognized that voice from anywhere, it quickly filled you with anger.
You and the others turn around, seeing Yurio standing there, growling at Yuri Katsuki.
He notices you right away and looks away, shuddering.

"Oh...it's you...what are you doing here?"

He asks, ignoring your dark gaze.
You rest your hands in your pockets.

"I'm here with Viktor and Katsuki, I'm just protecting Katsuki just in case something horrible happens..."

You glare at Viktor, causing him to grin and shrug his shoulders, being the care-free man he was.
Yurio clicks his tongue.

"Tch...you're wasting your time here...as for you Fatso, see you on the ice"
(¬д¬。)

"S-see you on the ice too...Y-Yurio"
(^^;)

Yuri stutters while waving goodbye to the Russian Punk.
The four of you then drive to the Star Hotel, getting ready for the next programs...
That night, Viktor had an interview to go to, so it was just you and Yuri in the hotel room.
Veronica explained that she needed to go run errands, which you didn't care.
You had enough of her bickering anyway.
Yuri stares at you while you were polishing your rifle, ignoring his gaze.
He then sighs and holds out his hand.

"Hey, let's take a walk...j-just you and me, okay?"
(/ω\)

"No thanks...I must rest early tonight anyway"
(。-_-。)

"Just a little walk? P-p-please (Y/n)?"

He asks while blushing and twiddling with his thumbs. You sigh, then hid your rifle under the bed, standing up.

"Alright...only for you, Katsuki"

"T-t-thanks (Y/n)! L-Let's go!"

He brightly smiled as he grabs your hand, warmth surrounding it.
As you two walked outside, the cold quickly hit you in the face but you were tough when it came to cold weather like this.
You've been to colder places before, so you can manage.
As the snow slowly drifts down from the clouds and onto the sidewalks, Yuri rubs his neck while his other hand held yours.

"(Y-Y/n)?"

"...yes, Katsuki?"

"...are you ever going to skate again?"

"...no...why? Why should I?"

You and Yuri then stop, the young man letting go of your hand and then faces you, concern showing on his face.

"So you're giving it up for good? Why? Was it because of your parents...?"

"...yes, Katsuki and I don't have time for skating anyway...I still have one objective to do and that is to find my parents murderer...and give him justice"

"And you believe that Viktor, my own coach, is really the culprit...?"

You silently nod...
Yuri shakes his head, gritting his teeth.
Was he angry with you?
Probably.
You then heard him whisper under his breath.

"I don't believe you (Y/n)...this isn't like you...where are you? Where are you?!"

You wouldn't believe what he did next: He pushed you, causing you to fall on your bottom. You stare up at him with wide eyes, surprised to see him like this. He would never hurt anyone, not even you.
He was now crying...

"The (Y/n) I know would never accuse friends for bad things! She would always stand right by their side, no matter what! The (Y/n) I know would never give up a sport that she really loves! She would just keep on doing it!
The (Y/n) I know would never be cold and bitter like the snow here! So where is she? Where is (Y/n)?!"

"...she's..."

Gone...

You thought sadly to yourself, avoiding his brown eyes behind those blue-rimmed glasses of his.
You heard him sniffle, then take a breath.

"...let's go back before Viktor worries about us..."

The rest of the night, you two of you never spoke, never glanced at each other. It was just too awkward for you two, considering the fact that Yuri was mad at you for the first time...
You sigh as you stare out the window, watching the snow land on the glass pane and everywhere else in Moscow.
You rest your hand on the surface, feeling the cold weather on the other side.

Yuri's right...this isn't me, this isn't the (Y/n) he remembered back in his childhood...so if I'm not the (Y/n) he remembered, who am I truly...?
Am I a military machine who's obsessed with finding a murderer that might possibly be dead or behind bars anyway?
Am I a weapon?
Am I really cold and bitter like this snow...?
Oh Yuri...I should've just stayed in Hasetsu, I should've just stayed in ice skating with you...I should've stayed with you from the start.
