Chapter 45
Assalamualaikum guys,
Before you start reading this chapter, I would like to make one thing clear. Most of you has commented on the previous chapter that Ehan didn't do it right by hurting Ira. Let me remind you Ehan is also a human, who gets hurt by Ira when she unintentionally gets close to someone. Now talking about Ira, tell me one thing guys, how is she suppose to realise what's in her heart if it didn't tremble with the fear of losing him? We never get the value of a certain thing until we experience the fear of losing it, right? So please let her get hurt a little so she could decode her puzzled thoughts and jumbled emotions.
Enjoy reading :)

Ira's sharp eyes remained at Ehan, who wasn't even looking up from the table they just sat. He wanted to play this jealousy game with Ira, just by using Amber's name. He had no idea of bringing her into the frame as a person.
Amber walked in, flaunting her beauty as she walked gracefully. "Hi, Ehan" she said, stopping by their table. Ehan forced a smile and looked at Ira, who was still glaring at him.
"Oh! You guys grabbed your lunch. I see. I'll just go get myself something" she smiled and walked to counter. After a couple of minutes, she was back with her plate. Keeping the plate on table, she mumbled that she need a diet coke and went to fetch that, not before flashing Ehan a smile. Ira clenched her fist, trying hard not to react.
Hearing her shoes clicking sound behind, Ira stretched her leg, on which she tripped. Ira thought she was gonna kiss the ground but no, she directly fell on Ehan, making her gasp.
Oops! This wasn't what Ira wanted.
Her eyes widened and she looked at Ehan, who was sticking to the backrest of the chair to create some distance between him and Amber, which was barely there. Amber was looking in him, smiling smuly. Some of the eople around them were watching them.
Ira quickly stood up and gently pulled Amber to stand. Ehan a heaved a sigh, pulling his jacket straight. Whereas Amber was blushing, hard.
"Are you okay, Amber?" Ira asked, pressing on every word as she grit her teeth.
"Yeah!" Amber smiled, playing with her hair. As Ira turned to sit back in her chair, Amber whispered a 'thank you' in her ear, increasing Ira's blood pressure. Her burning gaze met Amber's evilly delighted one as they both murdered eachother with their eyes.
"Ira" Ehan called, making them both take their seats back and start eating.
Amber was the only one continuously talking and Ehan was forcing himself to humm or nod at frequent intervals, his eyes glancing at Ira every few seconds, who was quiet throughout the time.
---
"Stupid, stupid, Ira. You're such a stupid person. Mary was right. No one in this world could be as stupid as you" Ira mumbled to herself, holding the straps of her backpack as she made her way to Ms Bella's cabin. She was looking ahead herself and talking as if the world around her doesn't exist.
"Why do you have stretch your leg? You made her fall on Ehan. Like really? Are you trying to help her or what? And Ehan... He didn't even said anything. I'm just gonna killl them bo... Aah!" She didn't notice a stone on her way, which strangely rolled as she stepped on it and that's how, she kissed the grassy ground.
"Aaah!" She groaned in pain, laying still. She hurt her knees and left elbow but her mind was still occupied by the events of Ehan and Amber's during lunch, in which she felt like a third wheel.
"Is this called karma?" She asked to no one in particular, resting her chin at the back of her hands, which she kept on the ground.
Her mind was a total mess.
She turned her head and placed her cheek at the back of her hand and remained still, thinking. Her thoughts were interrupted by a familiar face, staring at her with a frown.
"Hey, Ira. What wrong? Why are lying here? " Hamlet asked, kneeling to reach her level.
She just started at him, until few seconds passed.
"Lemme guess, you tripped and fell down" he commented, letting out a laugh at the end.
"No. Absolutely not. I'm learning to swim in this beautiful green grass" she sarcastically replied, spreading her hands over grass to show him that she's swimming.
He laughed uncomfortably, guessing that she's in a bad mood at the way she just talked to him. She stood up with a huff, dusted her hands and clothes, and walked away, leaving him watch her retreating back in confusion.
"How do I still find you cute?" He chuckled, turning back, only to spot Amber coming towards him.
"Someone looks smitten" she commented, as she stood infront of him with a smirk.
Not finding it necessary to reply her, Hamlet turned to leave.
"I'm here to have a deal with you" she said, stopping him on his tracks.
He laughed humorously, making a frown appear on her face.
"I so knew it" he shook his head, turning back to face her.
"Great! Let's work together and..."
"I don't work with mindless beings" he interrupted, taking her by suprise with his ride words.
"What do you mean?" She asked with a little anger in her voice.
He let out another laugh, mockingly, "You need an explanation for such a simple answer. I was right about you"
"Listen, you..." she pointed her index finger at him.
"Lower your tone. You're the one here for my help not the other way around" Hamlet spoke, taking a close to her. She let her hand fall by her side and shut her mouth.
"I don't need anyone. I can manage to win her heart by myself" he said, stepping back.
Amber looked up, composing her posture she spoke, "we can work together. It'll be beneficial for both of us"
"You definitely have a point but I don't trust you. It's been months since you stepped in this campus but no improvement. Ehan don't even spare you a look" he clicked his tongue, pocketing his hands.
It was highly offensive for Amber, who stood gritting her teeth.
"Listen, you know nothing..."
"Nobody here knows Ehan as much as I do. He's not going to be yours. Mark my words; you're simply wasting your time" he said, shaking his head and smiling a little.
"Listen, Hamlet. If you don't wish to work with me, then don't. Ehan is definitely getting attracted towards me. He'll eventually fall in love with me. Then I'll show you..." He caught the finger she pointed towards him, glaring at her.
"Don't be too quick to dream, Amber. Reality is different. He's just trying to make Ira jealous. He's no way attracted to you. What do you think, you're the first hot girl in this campus who's taking interest in him?," He laughed a little and continued, "There were many earlier and there still are some chicks behind him but he's not into any of them. They're just not his type, nor you"
"What are you? His relative? His brother? His bestfriend? Who are you to him to tell me what he's like and what he's not?" Amber yelled in annoyance.
Hamlet went quiet for a second, lowering his eyes.
"Whoever I am, I know him. He's not going to be yours. And I'm not a fool to join hands with you and lose Ira" with that, Hamlet walked passed her, leaving her continuously curse aloud.
Ira, who stood holding some books which Ms Bella asked her return to the librarian, on the first floor of the building across them, witnessed everything. She wondered what they were talking about, as the conversation seemed to heated by Amber's gestures.
She sighed and looked up at the clouds filled sky, "Dear God, I don't know what's your plan about our lives but I would like to suggest you something. Please set up this Amber with Helmet and spare my Ehan. I can't afford to lose him. Please"
Just then, a lightning striked, making her flinch and take a step back.
"What? You don't like my suggestion? Or... You do?" She wiggled her eyebrows at the sky and heard the thunder. Taking another step back, she cheekily smiled, comforting herself that God loved her suggestion and would definitely start working on it as soon as possible.
She made her way to the library, smiling ear to ear as the images of Amber and Hamlet falling in love started creating in her mind.
"Hey, Shruti" she stopped, as she spotted Shruti walking with a friend.
She gave her a hard stare but Ira cared the less, "Do you find Amber and Helmet cute together?" She asked, rising her eyebrows.
"What?" Shruti was always puzzled by her question, mainly at the mention of 'Helmet'.
"Amber, that red haired new hot girl and Helmet, the one from Ehan's class" she explained, urging her to answer her earlier question.
"No" Shruti said, more like huffing.
"What no?"
"No. They don't look cute together" Ira gasped hearing her, her heart clenched at her reply. She felt like Shruti broke her newly found dream with her harsh reply.
"They do look cute together. Get a check up done for your eyes" Ira snapped, angrily walking to the library.
"Is she mentally ill or what?" Shruti's friend, who was silently witnessing everything, asked.
"She's wierd. No doubt in that. But she's getting weirder day by day" shruti commented, looking at Ira walk towards the library mumbling to herself.
---
"Ehan, what?" Lily asked rising her eyebrows, completely stunned at the piece is information Ira gave her.
"He went on a coffee date with Amber" Ira repeated herself, looking at the floor. Since Ms Bella got a call from her family that there's an emergency, she left asking Ira to leave as well. She took that time to meet Lily and unburned her heavy heart.
Lily laughed, making Ira look up at her. Ira's face twisted as Lily laughed even more, this time harder.
"What's so funny about it?" Ira asked, feeling hurt at Lily's reaction. She thought Lily will understand her but watching her taking it so lightly, Ira lost her last hope.
"I'm sorry... I'm sorry dear" Lily said, halting her laughter for a second only to burst out laughing again.
Ira groaned and stood up to leave. Lily was quick to stop her as well as her laughter. Ira sat back on her chair, with a grumpy face.
Composing herself, Lily let out huge sigh. "You're too innocent my love" she gently pinched Ira's cheek, making her frown.
"Who told you that Ehan went on a date? That Amber? And you believed her?" She asked seriously, shaking her head in disappointment.
"I would have never believed it if it was Amber would've told me this. But it's Ehan, he told me this" he whispered the last part, looking back at the floor.
Lily laughed again, making Ira angry.
"This is not funny, Lily. I couldn't even breathe properly since yesterday and you're laughing" she complained, giving Lily a pleading look.
"He told you and you believed it. I'm sorry sweetheart but I couldn't help it" Lily laughed again and before Ira could get angry, she explained, "That introvert guy, who didn't ask YOU out yet, went on a date with that ginger head. Hilarious!"
Ira narrowed her eyes at Lily, trying to understand what she's trying imply.
"He's definitely lying" Lily commented, sounding very sure.
"Why would he do that?"
"To make you jealous, ofcourse"
"Why?" Ira whined, standing up.
"That... You have to find out yourself" Lily pulled her to sit back.
"Tell me one thing, do you feel extremely insecure when that ginger head is around Ehan?" Ira nodded as yes.
"Do you feel uneasy when Ehan smiles at her?"
Ira vigorously nodded as yes.
"Do you feel like...."
"Ripping that head off her neck and bury somewhere no one could ever find it" Ira completed before Lily, gritting her teeth and demonstrating with her hands how she was gonna rip Amber's head and dig an imaginary grave and bury inside. She sighed, panting at the end of her sentence.
"Ow!" Lily looked at her wide eyed.
"And... Why do you feel so?" She asked carefully, hoping Ira will understand the reason behind it and confess right away.
Ira looked down, searching for an answer within herself. More she was thinking about it, more she was messing with her brain. Lily patiently sat waiting for her to think and reply.
Ira looked up at her, hoping to find some help but Lily shrugged, asking her figure it out herself. She looked down again, thinking.
"I feel that way... Because... Because... Because he's my friend and she's trying to snatch him from me" she said, making Lily groan inward.
"We're back to this friend thing again. Anyway, you're no way going to get the real reason behind this jealousy anytime soon. I better should let Ehan go on with his plan" Lily mumbled the last sentence to herself, looking everywhere but Ira.
"What did you say?" Ira asked, suspiciously narrowing her eyes.
"Nothing sweetheart. Don't tell Ehan that you know about his lies. Instead try figuring out why he's doing so. Okay?" Lily gently patted her cheeks before making her way back to into the cafeteria.
Ira sighed, not understanding anything properly.
