You took it all, but I'm still breathing
"Stop!" My father shouted.
I turned back and faced him. He was red with anger.
As I looked at him, only one phrase lingered in my head :
"One day, you'll be red with shame."
He started: "Now that you're leaving, leave alone. All the stuffs that you're taking with you....they're all mine."
I didn't say a word. I threw the suitcase right near his feet.
Then I turned to leave.
"Wait. When I said alone, I meant alone. So miss Sia Brown. As from now, you are only miss Sia. I disown you." He shouted.
Tears filled my eyes. I felt a 'crack' inside of me.
"You never owned me." I said.
"Get out! You're dead for me." My father shouted.
"You won't forget me. I swear!" I said and left.
As I was walking on the road, I felt something vibrating in the pockets of my coat. I plunged my hand in the pocket and took out a phone. Venice was calling.
"Hello.."
"I'm sorry Sia. I could only afford a phone for you. Check out the other pocket." Venice said.
I checked in my other pocket and to my surprise, I got a purse in which there was money and a ticket to Florida. There was also a card.
"Venice. Thank you so...."
"No. Thank your brother." And the phone hung.
Venice was right. All men are not the same.
My father thought he won by taking everything from me. But I was still breathing.
"I'm alive...."
