Part four

I wake up in the same state of mind I have since, I've left Tulsa three months ago, fuck my life, I live in hell. I broke up Andrew, the other day but, whatever, I'm in love with Sodapop not, Andrew. I walk down stairs, "bye mom."

"Where the hell do you think you're going?" She immediately snaps.

"Why do you care, you never care where Rose goes?" I fire back not hesitating for a millisecond.

"Don't you dare sass me," my mom yells.

"I'll do whatever I want, you're not even my real mom," I flip.

"To think I took you in from the streets, you ungrateful bitch!" My mom yells.

"How about I just leave again, you don't love me and I don't love you nor does anybody else in this fucking world loves me, not even my own brother!" I yell holding back tears through that last part.

"Get out of my house," she commands.

"Fine, I'll just go back to Tulsa, oh wait I have nobody fucking there!" I scream.

"You don't have anybody because your an ungrateful little bitch, who only looks on the negative. Nobody will ever love you!" She yells and god as she says that, it felt like somebody was taking my heart and ripping it in half.

"I hate you!" I sob running upstairs. I grab as much clothing as I can grab and spread it through, five book bags and a purse.

I run down stairs and as I dash out the door I hear my mom yell, "good run you little bitch, run! You'll never find another home, nobody likes an ungrateful bitch!"

I run out and run onto the train, it'll be a long ride to Tulsa but, I can't miss my stop.

***HOURS LATER***

It's time to jump, I first throw my bags one by one into the cold snow of Tulsa, next it's me, and trust me jumping out of a moving train is not as fun as it sounds, it's fucking scary but, I have to do it. "AH!" I scream as I plummet to the ground. I hit the ground and of fucking course twist my ankle. I walk in the town of Tulsa aimlessly until I see Johnnycakes sleeping in the vacant lot we met in, a smile grows across my face, I lay down on the cold snowy ground next to him and let myself drift asleep, I can't wait to see him tomorrow, I've missed him so much.

***TOMORROW MORNING***

I wake up to the sun shining bright in the sky but, a sound asleep Johnnycakes. "Hey Johnnycakes, wake up," I whisper into his ear as I shake him a little bit.

"Sarah," he mumbles sleepily.

"Yup, it's me," I smile.

"Oh my god, Sodapop!" He yells out randomly.

"What?" I ask him.

"You need to see Sodapop," he says happily.

"No!" I yell not ready to see him yet.

"Why not? He misses you," he says all confused like.

"Because, I'm not ready to see him yet," I say angrily.

"I don't get it you've been gone for three months, he's missed you just like I've missed you and it's ashamed the gang hasn't seen your inner beauty," he whines.

"I don't really care, when I need food, I'll see him and I'll probably need food soon, I just got here," I explain.

"Ok, I'll see ya 'round," he says sadly.

"Johnnycakes, don't be sad I saw you yesterday and I've immediately felt happier than I've been in forever," I reply trying to cheer him up. He gives me a weak smile and runs off.

I follow his lead of leaving by walking to a small salon. "How may we help you?" The one lady asks.

"I need touch ups on my roots my, dark brown is showing. Then can ya'll straighten it and part it to the side please," I command.

"Ok, what's your name?" the lady asks.

"Sarah, Sarah uh," I stop and think which last name I should use, I'm a Winston but, what if they know the Dallas. "Sarah Young."

"Thank you," she says writing down my name. I rush to the bathroom and get changed into my new purple leather jacket that only comes to my upper waist with my red tank top and light blue skinny jeans, with my purple converse. I quickly brush my hair, teeth, and throw on my usual make-up. I come out to hear, "Sarah Young."

"That's me," I reply gleefully.

"Take a seat over here," A girl with blonde hair said gesturing to a chair.

"Ok, this shouldn't take long at all," she announced as she washed my long red hair.

***ONE HOUR LATER***

"Done," the lady smiles. She turns me around to face the mirror, it looked good, my roots no longer peaked through my red hair, it was straighter than straight and was parted perfectly covering my one brown eyes yet, not much hair on the other side on my head. I had to do a double take, nobody does this good down in Florida. "That'll be ten dollars," the lady announces. I hand her the money and damn was that expensive!

I look forward to the DX and, I want to turn back but, I know I can't. I peek through the doors of the DX to see Sodapop surrounding by girls, like always. I walk through and join the crowd of girls but, I'm different for three reasons, one I can actually flirt, two I was friends with Sodapop at one point and three I'm a Winston which means I can pick up guys easily. I wonder if Dallas is the same way with girls. I push through the girls until I reach Soda, I place my hand over his and say in a flirty but, not over flirty tone, "hey Soda, I would ask you to fix my car but, I don't have one so, I was wondering if you could fix me a meal and take me to the Dingo?"

"I'm sorry but, I'm at work right now I can't," he says obviously annoyed.

I then put my finger under his chin ever so gently lifting it up saying, "Soda, honey it doesn't have to be right now."

When he sees me he smiles, "how 'bout at my break?"

"Works for me," I say biting my lips.

I walk away with my hands on my hips, he has no idea that I'm in love with him and he never will. I leave the shop and head to a party this guy named Buck well his house. I walk in and the first person I see is Dallas, I walk right up to him, "hello Dallas."

"What the hell are you doing here Sarah?" He asks me.

"Living my life," I respond coldly.

"Well get the hell out of here," he commands acting like he's known me his whole life. Honestly he should just fuck off!

"Nope," I respond.

"It isn't safe here and I'm not going to watch my baby sister get hurt because, I didn't warn her about something," he replies acting like he cares.

"Yea, whatever mom," I say rolling my eyes.

"What the fuck Sarah? I'm trying to help you but, if you don't want my help then do whatever you fucking want I don't give two damns about you!" He yells grabbing my wrist and, squeezing it super hard.

"Dallas that hurts," I yelp out in pain.

"Sorry," he replies loosing his grip.

"It's ok, now why are you being so kind you made your emotions towards me clear?" I say remember his word all to well, "Well, I had a life just fine without you and you had a fine without me so it doesn't even matter."

"I don't know," he shrugs.

"Well, I'm back now and, I'm going to have fun with or without my brother," I reply but, I know he doesn't care.

"Just do it somewhere else," he commands.

"I don't know who you think you are, telling where I can and can't go, who I can and can't hang out with. In my eyes your just some heartless asshole that happens to be my brother! God, am I stupid!" I say almost in sobs but, hold myself together.

"Shut up! I am your brother that's who I think I am," he says.

"Listen, I don't care I'm a Winston, I'm tough and tuff. I'm a Winston," I reply with pride.

"Damn, you really are my sister," he says as he claps.

"What's that supposed to mean?" I ask confused.

"Most girls would be crying right now," he says in awe.

"Yea, well Winstons don't cry," I reply.

"I know we don't you're like me," he smiles.

"Yea, so," I roll my eyes.

"Maybe you ain't so bad, you should stop by the Curtis house later," he says.

I feel the smile tugging the corners of my mouth he wants me but, I keep my cool as I reply,"maybe I will."
