Chapter 16

“You looking stunning April.” Victor smiled as he held his arm out for me.

I grabbed it gently, Jasper and Jenna falling behind. I dressed Jasper in a black suit, white shirt, and purple tie. Jenna’s dress was a beautiful lilac dress that had short sleeves and a neckline swoop. Me on the other hand I was sexy. My own lilac dress had a diamond cut in between my breasts, a large hole in the back and a large slit going up the side. My hair was wrapped in a tight bun also.

“Thank you Prince Victor. I do believe that we should get going though.” I smiled.

He nodded and pulled me into the waiting limo. I have no idea why these people love limos so much. Victor held me close to his side, nibbling on my flesh. I could feel my body begin to cool. “I know how the witch’s body works. I can ease your tension just by kissing the side of your neck or touching you in a certain way. This way I can do things to you like this until you are ready to have me.”

“And what makes you think that I’ll have you. After all I am to be married.”

“Why don’t we cut off that engagement and you can stay with me. I mean it’s not like you really want to be with him. He’s just going to pressure you into doing things that you don’t want to do. You can rule the whole kingdom if you want to. You don’t have to wait by Austin.”

I only caught the first part of what he was saying. “You can call off my engagement?”

“Yes. I am a Prince after all.”

“Do it tonight? Please?”

“Only if you promise to live with me, I’m sure you have no where else to go.”

“Fine, just call it off.”

He smirked and kissed my forehead. I hid into his chest and watched as Jenna and Jasper gave me a worried look.

“Are you sure you wish to break the engagement? I mean he may have been mean but that family did save you and Jasper from being sold to someone much worse.” Jenna suggested.

“Well he’s given me no respect. Plus he’s cheated on me, with three other girls at the same time. I don’t find how this is better.”

“You’re right. My apologies April.” She bowed.

“Of course she’s right. You should know that you are under her orders.” Victor declared.

“But they’re also my friends. They don’t listen to you, they listen to me as you said.” I smiled.

He shook his head and started kissing down my neck. “I’m sorry sweetheart. I didn’t mean to sound so demanding. Please forgive me.”

I gave out a short moan as he reached a part of me that made me burn in complete pleasure. I felt my witch heat slowly retreat back inside my body. My body acted on it’s own as my hands curled into his hair, raising his head so I could kiss him deeply. He groaned and kissed back, pressing me into the seat. “I think that you two should stop. We’re here and I have to fix April’s hair before we go in.”

Victor sighed, giving me one last peck. “You’re right. We’re here. And I must apologize for messing up your hair like that.”

I smiled and licked my lips. “I have no problem with you doing it again. Trust me.”

Jasper shook his head and got out the car so he could hold the door open for me. Jenna let my hair out of its pins, fluffing it. “There is no point in trying to keep all of that hair together again. I’ll be sure to give you a trim tomorrow.”

I stepped out the car, sensing trouble was brewing. Victor came to my side and smiled. “I can see that you sense what’s about to happen. I love the fact that my little witch can sense such power.”

“Well the place reeks of it. I know who will give us a problem also.”

“Just think of what I have offered you. I can untie you and you can stay with me until you get back on your feet or until you just feel as though you want to leave.”

I smiled and kissed his cheek. “I think I should stay with you. After all, you are such a gentleman.”

“You’re right about that little witch.”

Jenna and Jasper fell in step behind us as we walked toward the building. I could see everyone watching us and the thought of it made me blush. So much attention and yet people ignored who I was. What I was. As soon as we entered, women swooned at the sight of Victor and scowled at me. Men looked at me in pure lust and appeared as though they were willing to fight Victor for me. “They look as though they’re about to eat me alive.”

“I know. They seem very vicious tonight.” He purred into my ear. I smiled to myself and held on to his arm tightly. If he were to my claim then I should hold him close. Besides I have to be the one to show Austin that I can go on with out him.

Every man swooned at the sight of me. “These men have good taste if they are lusting after me. It seems as though they want to mark me as their own.”

“They want to because you’re here with the Prince. I only date the finest of women which explains why I don’t date much. Now would you care for a dance? Your fiancé is here and he’s eying you.”

Suddenly I felt the heat of his gaze. “I would love to dance with you.”

He smiled and guided me to the floor. I looked over to see Austin with a shocked expression. I held in my smile and turned my attention back to Victor. I’ve had sudden urges to just take him but I knew it wasn’t witch lust. It wasn’t love either. It was just like an overwhelming power that couldn’t be put out. “What’s wrong sweetheart? You appear to be ill.”

“Maybe it’s because you’re dancing with my fiancée.” I heard a growl. The floor cleared and I saw Austin stand behind me with his brothers and theirs fiancées behind him. “Just what do you think you’re doing April?”

“I’m living my life Austin.”

“I own you. You are to be my wife. Now let go of Victor and let’s go home so we can talk privately.” He ordered.

“It’s Prince Victor to you and I don’t appreciate your tone of voice. If you are going to speak to me then you will do so properly. I don’t care that you feel as though you own me.” I argued.

“Well we do. I bought you fair and square. I can turn you into my sex slave for all you know. Now I will say it only once more. Get away from the Prince and let’s return home.” He shouted, making everyone in the room shudder but me and Victor.

“I, as the prince, call off your engagement with April here. She is to be with me for now on. It is of her request.” Victor smiled down at me.

“You may have the right to call off our engagement but you do not own her. I have the papers to prove that she belongs to me and my brothers.”

“Is her name on the document or her number? If her name is there then you can have her but if it’s the slave number then be sure that she is free to do as she pleases. Plus it applies to a human. April isn’t a human. She’s a witch. She does not have to obey the document.”

“It appears you have studied the court laws.” Austin growled. “I was hoping you were clueless.”

“It would appear as though I brush up on my studies. Now me and my dear April will bid you a dew. We have other people to chat with. I also wish for her to meet my parents.”

“Good bye Austin.” I smiled. Jenna and Jasper looked at him with sad expressions and walked away with us. They are bound to me and will stay by my side. No matter what kind of decisions I’ve made.

“Do you know what power the Prince has?” he called to me, but I ignored him. I will not listen to what he has to say.

“Darling do you think we can take things to a private place? I wish for us to talk alone and my ex is making me quite uncomfortable.” I asked him.

“But of course.” He smiled back at Austin and proceeded with us walking away.

“Don’t you walk away from me April.” He shouted for me. “Jenna. Jasper. Tell her the truth. Tell her about the Prince.”

“We know nothing.” They said in unison.

“Bullshit. Jenna you know. You’ve been hiding in the palace for so long.”

“Enough.” I shouted. My power was bubbling under my fingertips. “You do not order my conduits to do anything. If I say something they will obey me and only me. Now I suggest you leave me be. You do not own me.”

“You never gave me the chance to fully know you. Can we please talk?”

“You’re just too little too late.” I quoted as I walked away. *I’m going to have a long talk with the both of you* I told Jenna and Jasper.

They nodded discreetly as Victor took me outside. “What is it that you wanted to talk to me about my love?”

“What is your power? I know the upper class vampires each hold a power so what is yours.”

“I have none. The powers skipped my generation I guess. But if I had a power I would have told you about it.”

“How would I know that?”

“You are under my roof. I think you would notice the fact that I have a power. Have you seen me throw anyone across the room or anything like that? No. I'm a normal vampire. Now let's talk about us. I want to be with you. Say you'll be mine."

"I just got out of an engagement. Do you really think that I want to be with another guy right now?"

He laughed and grabbed the top of my arms. "I'll ask you again. Will you be mine, April Violet?"

A sudden rush of weakness came over me. "I will be yours, Prince Victor."

He smiled and let go of my arms. "Good girl. Now let's return to the party, darling."

He turned us back inside and I could sense my witch getting angry. Something's wrong here. And I have a feeling that everyone knows the secret but me.
