Chapter 4: Unmasked

I did not make the animatic. Please check it out.

It was a day like any other. Larry was smoking weed-

"LARRY JOHNSON! YOU SMOKE POT?!" Lisa screamed.

"Hehe... sorry mom. You can continue, Sal." Larry replied.

Ash was doodling in her sketchbook , I was watching her, and Todd was reading. I look up to see a kid named Travis staring at me across the cafeteria. It was normal for people to stare because of my prosthetic, but not the way Travis was. He looked at me on how Chug look at at food. Lovey- dovey.

But once I looked back at him, he quickly changed his face. It was a deep red, his once sweet expression, turned into an angry one.

"W-What are you l-looking at, Faggot?!"

I disliked the name calling, but kept my composure as long as I could.

The bell rings, signaling that it's time to head to first period. I was the first one to get up from the table, and started to walk to class. Travis was behind me and started to ridicule me again.

"Hey Freak. Can't you move any slower?" He said, shoving me on a locker.

"Owe!" I yelped. I tried to keep my cool, but today I felt weird near Travis, like he was gonna do something. But when I usually get that feeling, it usually goes away. So, yeah.

A little timeskip to third period, a class that I share with Travis, he dropped a ball of paper. Curious, I picked it up and put it in my backpack. During fourth period, the curiousity got the better of me. I got the note and I asked to go to the bathroom.

"I still have the note." Sal said as he took it out of his pocket and began to read it.

Dear Sal,

I'm sorry for calling you names, hitting you, and everything else. I just... I dont know whats going on in my head! I don't know how to feel. I'm supposed to be a Christian. I'm supposed to be a child of Jesus. I'm supposed to hate homosexuals! I just-"

"He stopped writing there."

"What the fuck?!" Larry yelled. "He likes you?!"

"That was unexepected." Henry said.

"So, why did he beat you up?"

"I don't know..."

It was now lunch time, and I was sitting with my group of friends, but Larry was late due to getting in trouble last period for passing notes. I see Travis, he looked very nervous anxious. He then looks at me. I walk towards him.

"Travis. Are you okay?"

"W-What?! Yeah, I am. Faggot!"

"Are you sure? Your not stressed out about anything right?"

"Why don't you mind your own business?!" Travis was on the verge of tears, he wipes his face with his sleeve.

"It's okay to have emotions..."

"Yeah for faggots like you!" Travis shoved me.

"Is your church pushing all of these beliefs on you?"

"No!" Travis lied. I could tell." I'm my own person! God will never love you and I can tell you that!"

"Apparently, your not your own person, with that mindset!" I said. "Travis, there is nothing wrong with being gay-"

"SHUT THE FUCK UP!" He hollered as he punched me right in my face. I fell to my hands and knees. He kicks me in the stomach. Everyone turned around and started watching us.

"Auggh!!!!!"

I was now on my back while he kept kicking my stomach. Each kick getting harder every swing. He gets on top of me.

"FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!"

I try to punch him to get him off of me. He pins me down, my heads are above my head.

"Lets see what you really look like underneath that mask. "

"NO!! NO PLEASE!!! PLEEEASSSE DONT TAKE OFF MY PROSTHETIC!" I shook my head aggressively.

"NO FUCKING MERCY!" Travis ripped off my mask.

Everyone was looking at my face...

"Oh my god!"

"It's hideous!"

"Damn, your face is ten times uglier than I thought it was." Travis snickered and whispered in my ear...

"GET OFF ME!!" I sobbed.

Travis kept punching my face, over and over again.

"IM NOT A FAGGOT LIKE YOU!"

I sob louder.

He finally punched me so hard, my glass eye broke inside of my eye socket, some of was laying on the floor.
He slammed my head into the floor over and over, yelling in my ear.

"IM NOT!"

"IM NOTHING LIKE YOU!"

"FAGGOT!"

"FAGGOT"

"FAIRY!"

I screamed in agony.

"GET OFF."

Then, all of a sudden, Larry burst through the door. He saw what Travis was doing and immediately ran over.

"YOU MOTHERFUCKER!" Larry screaches as he tackles Travis to the ground. But Travis fought back.

I got up, No I fell over TRYING to.

The students found my misery entertaining.

I get up.

Everyone's staring at me. The room was spinning.

"YOU LIKE GETTING PUNCHED IN THE FACE TRAVIS?!" Larry yelled in the background.

"Hahah!! He looks like Freddy Krueger!" One kid said.

"I'd say uglier!"

"Awe. he's crying! HAHA!"

"What a-"

My mind is racing. My heartbeat was insanely fast. I covered my face up with my hands and booked it out of the cafeteria.

"¡No puedo creer esto! La pequeña perra no fue castigada?" Lisa ranted. "¡Si yo fuera la madre de ese chico, lo golpearía en la cabeza!"

" That's what I was thinking!" Larry said.

"Sal is my precious dulce bebé, and we will not let that niño perra get away with this!"

I blush in embarrassment.

" I have more... bad news..." Henry said. "Your new prosthetic won't come in until next Tuesday and you cant miss that much school..."

"I'm not going to school without it...."

"You don't really have a choice... I'm sorry Sal."

"¡Hijo de puta!" Larry cursed. "I won't even be there to protect him!"

"Well it's not like Travis will be there-"
Henry said.

"Well there's everyone else!" Sal pretty much screamed. Sal heart was racing.

"Sal, look, I let you stay home tomorrow with Larry. But your going to school on Wenesday." Henry said.

"Thanks Dad. I'll sleep over at Larry's."

Sal left to his room and got a shirt on.
Larry gives Sal his hoodie, so he can hide his face the way there.

"Well, you boys better get going, I have to go back to work." Lisa said.

"Oh. I do too." Henry said.

Larry and Sal left his apartment and went down to the basement.

"L-Larry...?"

"Yeah?"

"I'm really scared to go back to school..." Sal said.

"After what the school saw me do to Travis, I think they'll leave you alone."

"That's not why I'm scared! Imagine going to school without any pants on! That's how I feel." Sal started to cry.

I ushered him inside and shut the door.

"Eveyone will laugh at me!" Sal sobbed in my shoulder.

"Sal-"

"Why do I have to be so FUCKING ugly?!"

"Sal!-"

"I can't breath-" Sal sniffed.

"Sal! Look at me! Look at me... you are not ugly. You are amazing. I understand you. I want you to drop all of you're worries and just... breath..."
Sal slowly looks up. His eyes were filled with pain and fear.

"Why... Why are you so good at this...?" Sal said as Larry wipes a tear off of his cheek with his thumb.

"I don't know..." Larry says, hugging him tight.

"Can you invite Ash and Todd over?" Sal asked.

"Sure, little dude." Larry said, smiling.
