Chapter 3: Flashbacks (GRAPHIC CONTENT)
Lisa got the hydrogen peroxide and bandages. Sal hides his face with his blanket.
"Sal, can I see your face please?"
No response.
"Sal, Please?" Lisa pleaded.
Sal continued to cry, he got up from the bed and to his dresser drawer. He opened one of the drawers and took out a bottle of pills.
"Th-There anxiety pills... been t-taking them since day o-one..."
Sal opened the bottle and took one pill and put the bottle back in the drawer. He swallowed the pill dry.
Lisa looked at Sal, sympathetically.
"Sal, I need you to calm down, and lay down on the bed, and let me get that glass out of your eye socket."
"I-It w-will...-"
"Yes I know it's gonna hurt." Lisa interrupted." But I won't stop hurting you until you get it all cleaned up."
Sal nodded and got on his bed and laid down, his head on Lisa's lap.
"I-I t-trust y-you... "
Lisa grabbed the tweasers and started to make it to Sal's glass eye.
Sal shrieked.
Lisa looked at Sal.
"Everything's gonna be okay."
Everything's gonna be okay.
Everything's gonna be okay
EVERYTHING'S GONNA BE OKAY.
EVERYTHING'S GONNA BE OKAY.
The nurses carried the crying boy on a stretcher while telling him those words over and over again, his face was blown off by a shot gun. His mother was shot trying to save him. She was on another stretcher.
Sal was bawling out in pain, screaming that he wants his mama.
"I WANT MY MOMMY!!! I WANT MY MOMMY!"
Once they made it to the hospital, Sal was put in a blue hospital gown and was dragged to the surgery room. Staples and stitches, were used to keep the wounds closed, but when it came to his eye they had to amputate it.
The nurses shot a syringe in his arm, and it knocked him out cold.
Sal was breathing very heavily, his heart feeling like it was going to explode any second. Tears falling down his cheeks like waterfalls.
"Sal, honey, I need you to breath." Lisa said, while caressing his electric blue hair, softly.
"Almost got this piece out...."
Sal was having a panic attack. He has never had one this awful before.
Sal can hear his heartbeat getting faster and faster.
Sal screamed in agony, as Lisa got the main piece out, she noticed the boy's breathing was very rapid and quick.
"Sweetie, I need you to calm down."
Larry opens the door cautiously.
"Is Sal okay?"
"Larry I need you to call Sal's dad. Now. He's breathing very heavily and I don't know what to do."
Larry takes Sal's phone and does what he's told.
It felt like his phone rang forever. But finally Henry answered.
"Hello?"
"Its Larry! Something happened to Sal and we need you at the apartments!"
"Why? What happened? Is he hurt?!"
"Yes! He's having a mega panic attack! Get your ass over here!"
"Larry Johnson!"
"Sorry, Henry... But please get over here as fast as you can!"
"Larry, I'll be as quick as I can, You know how to help with his panic attacks, I've seen you do it before. What is about?"
"Sal got beat up by an asswipe kid and his mask broke, along with his glass eye and the entire school saw his face."
"Tell your mother that I'm on my way. Does she need any medical supplies?"
Larry looks at Lisa.
"Do you need any first-aid stuff?"
"No. " Lisa answered.
"She's good."
"Well, I'll be there in a flash. See ya soon kid."
"Kay bye." Larry hung up before Henry had a chance to say goodbye back. He sped- walked into Sal's room.
He pulled his thick brown hair into a high man bun.
"I've got it from here, Mom."
"Larry, are you sure?" Lisa said,"Its a delicate process."
"Its like taking out a splinter, isn't it?"
"Yeah, it is. But this is his eye we're talking about."
"I'll be careful."
"Okay, I'll be here if you need help." Lisa gives Larry the pliers.
Larry gets on Sal's bed and sits up and puts Sal's head on his lap. His eyes were filled to the brim with tears as he made soft crying noises.
Larry put his finger on Sal's scarred, quivering lips.
"Shhhhhhhhh... Larry's gotcha... You gonna be okay... You gonna be alright, little dude..."
Sal made a few more sobbing noises.
"I'm right here. Just let me get the glass out of your eye, okay...?" Larry said in his calming, deep voice.
Sal nods.
"Open you eye lid as wide as you can."
Sal listens and does what he's told.
Larry gets a small piece out as Sal whimpers.
"Two more pieces... Okay?" Larry spoke with patience.
"Mmhhmm..." Sal murmered.
"Aw shit... Sal... This one's gonna hurt like a bitch."
Larry gripped on Sal's hand tight as he got the tweezers closer to were Sal's eye used to be.
"Just hold still-" Larry tugged at the piece of glass stuck in Sal's flesh.
"AGGGGHHHH!" Sal wailed in agony. Larry felt like his fingers were going to break due to how tight, Sal was gripping his other hand.
"Sal I know it hurts, but if I don't do this, it'll get worse!"
Larry for the final peice out, well, the final one in his eye socket, at least. He got out the hydrogen peroxide and poured some on a cotton ball. He put his hand over Sal's other eye so he wouldn't get any peroxide in it.
Sal sobbed, while the cuts in his eye socket bubbles.
Larry got up from Sal's bed covered Sal's eye with a cotton ball covered in
peroxide. Larry grabbed bandages and started to wrap Sal's eye.
"I'm almost done, little dude."
Sal finally stopped crying. Tear stains were on his cheeks.
"Okay. Uhm... So... Hehe... Bad news... So... Your mask... It didnt make it... Its just parts. We can't fix it." Lisa said.
"I'm not going to school without one." Sal backsassed. "It's like going to school with no pants on."
"Shush! I'm not done." Larry interrupted.
Suddenly, the apartment front door started to open.
It was Sal's dad.
"Where's Sal?" He asked.
"In his room." Lisa answered.
Henry walked up to the door and knocked loudly.
"Come out here and tell us what happened at school."
Henry looked at Lisa.
"Do you know anything about the fight?"
"No, I'm more confused than a chameleon in a bag of skittles! All I know, is Larry got suspended for a month for getting between them!"
"Who is them?"
"I DON'T KNOW!"
The door opens And Larry comes out of Sal's room, Sal coming out a few seconds later.
"Sal, Are you feeling any better?" Lisa asked, coming up to him and giving him a big hug.
"No..." Sal sniffed.
Lisa hugged Sal.
"My sweet boy..." Lisa said. "Can you tell me what happened at school today?"
Sal looks at Larry.
"Well..."
