Chapter 72.

As the night grew on, The Cavern became a calm scene and the crowds dispersed like the smoke in the air. After my run in with Richard, I invited him to our table where I learned John and the guys have begun to consider recruiting Richard into The Beatles. When I asked about Peter, nothing was said. I had to admit, a part of me was shocked and a bit bothered with the dishonesty and betrayel of a band member. Something John never took too lightly. I didnt want to get too into it so i let the subject pass.

Cynthia excused herself about an hour into our get together to remind John about her plans for the next day. He was a bit disappointed but let her leave. It was nice to see that he wasnt all rage and encouraging of her skipping classes to drink the night away with him. I noticed the small changes the more we all stuck around.

"We should get together again before you head back." Cyn smiled with a hug. I returned the gesture and let her go.

Stu and the guys were in deep conversation when I saw the time and had to remind Stu himself that it should be time that we were headed off ourselves. He reluctantly agreed and we all said our goodbyes. It felt like a typuical night back in the day when we would gather and meet with one another about the band or just to cool down after a long gig.

"Hope to see you two sometime soon. I'd hate for you two leave without a solid goodbye." Richard hugged me and shook Stu's hand.

"I'll make sure you get the first notice." I giggled and waved goodbye. John followed us out and watched Stu and I hold hands.

"Hey um, it really is nice to see you two again. Before it all I guess i never realised how much I needed familiartity in my life. We've all been through enough and, lets start over yeah?"

"That sounds great mate. Look we better shove off. The little one gets a bit fussy when he hasnt had his nightly ritual with Molly and I singing him to sleep."

John chuckled and shook his head. "Is it different? Life I mean now."

Stu shrugged. "A little. Everything changes when you grow up."

John just nodded and flicked his cig away. "Aye em, if this band doesn't make it...you really think New York would be okay?"

I watched as Stu just smiled and place his hands on his friends shoulders. "The band will work out mate. G'night."

And with that, took my hand and led me off back to the car.

....

Greetings, feedings, showers and goodnights were all that happened once we got back to mine. Little Liam was happily in my arms enjoying a bottle while Stu took his pills and wrote down a few things for the post in the morning.

"Ye know I was thinkin of takin Liam off on my own to see dad."

I looked at him. "Why?? We had it planned already."

"I think there needs to be some things that need straightening out with you and you know who next door."

I was going to open my mouth to speak but shut it as he spoke.

"I think its best you tell him about Liam as well."

I sighed and set Liam in his crib. "I dont know Stu. I mean its been so long and...."

"I know how you feel about him Molly. Its always been that way between you two and...even though it drives me mad to see you make those eyes at him, i know its my time to step back for a little bit so you can set things straight."

I sat on the edge of the bed beside him and held his hand. "I love you so much."

"And I love you." He stroked the side of my cheek. "Youre so beautiful. It's no wonder why all these blokes 'ave wanted ye like mad. You're a heartbreaker you are." He teased. "But youre my little heartbreaker. And thats all ive ever wanted."

I giggled and looked over at Liam who was already on the road of dreams.

"C'mere Sutcliffe." I pulled him into a deep kiss, moving my hand to the front of his jeans.

....

The next morning at breakfast, I was spreading jam onto my toast when Stu walked into the room dressed for the day and ready to take Liam to meet his other grandaddy.

"You need a ride?" Dad asked as Stu picked up Liam and held him in his arms. The sight of a serious looking Stuart Sutcliffe with an adorable little boy trying to chew on his coat melted my heart.

"Yeah thanks." Stu agreed. He gave me a small kiss and followed dad out to the car, leaving Sarah and I alone to talk and catch up as girls.

.....

Since I had some time to myself without having to take care of Liam and worry about Stu's meds, I took a long hot bath with some tea and dressed in something simple and decided for a walk. On my way outside and locking the front door, I heard arguing next door and stood silently to see George huff in anger and storm out, slamming the door shut. when he saw me he stood solid.

"Molly what...."

I looked at the sky and then at him. "You want to go for a walk with me?"

"Absolutely."

We began our walk silently to the park where we often spent our time when we were young. The benches in the same areas. The large trees and the smell of fresh cut grass faded when George lit himself a cigarette, handing me one. I declined.

"Seein you last night was...it was a dream." He smiled shyly. I blushed and sat with him on the grassy earth.

"I've missed you so much George. You're so different. I mean you look so grown up to me its just..."

"Different?"

I nodded. "Yeah."

He just smiled and took another drag of his cig. "You and Stuart made it. What's New York like?"

I picked at the grass. "It's busy."

"And??" He waited for more. I felt the need to talk about Liam but I decided now wasn't the best time. Instead I changed the subject to him.

"Lets talk about you first." I nudged him with my elbow. "You got a girl now."

He shrugged. "It seems so yeah."

"Is it serious?"

He took another drag and looked at me. "Do you care?"

I looked down and nodded. "I do. I mean I care about you."

"You care about me?? Molly you fuckin left without even thinking of me and you decided to fuckin..."

I just sat and watched him ramble on, smiling at how flustered and red his cheeks became the more he cursed and his accent grew thicker. His hair was longer but was held up with grease. He smelled amazing with the hint of cigarettes. I almost forgot how full his lips were and his cute fangs that shown anytime his mouth opened enough for me to see them. His jawline was strong and the veins in his neck were showing when he ran out of air.

"Molly!" He yelled angrily. I just giggled and ruffled his hair.

"You're too cute Geo."

"Molly please." He sighed. "I want us to be friends but after what you did I don't know...." He began again.

I don't know what came over me. But in that moment I leaned in and kissed him. As if he hadn't been in a heated discussion, he took my face in his hands and kissed me deeply, pulling me on top as we fell back on the soft grass. Our lips caressed and enjoyed the sensation of eagerness and the familiartity of it all. We rolled over and he climbed ontop, breathing heavily and pulling back to gaze into my eyes.

"You say you've missed me. Then why did you just leave?? Why not a goodbye??" He asked. I reached up and stroked the side of his face.

"Because I'm in love with you George. I don't trust myself around you. I sometimes fear that, if you asked me to run away with you...I would."

"Run away with me." He asked. I broke a smile and sat up with him. Our fingers linked as he spoke. "Remember when we were younger and we began to talk more? You used to come over to ours to see Peter all the time but, when you began to ask for me....that was the moment I realised I was in love with you. I remember seein you the first day you arrived in your father's truck and...you were so stunning. I knew then I'd always 'ave you. If not a lover then as a mate." He looked at me. I leaned my head on his shoulder.

"You understand why I couldn't say goodbye?" I asked.

"Yes." He said quietly. "I just don't know if moving on is something I want. Not when it's goodbye to you."

I looked at him and he looked at me.

"Don't leave again." He whisered. I sniffled and shook my head.

"I love you so much George. It feels like eternity since I've seen you yet, your presence is so familiar it just, it reminds me of better times. There's just...there's something you need to know George."

"Tell me everything Molly. I'll tell you all you want to know."

I looked into his eyes and looked down. "George...." I began. But before I could finish, a familiar voice grew near.

"Aye you two! Fancy meetin you 'ere! What we on about??" John smiled cheerily, sitting with us.

"Molly was just about to tell me everythin in New York." George let go of my hand. John noticed this and met my eyes. I looked away.

"Not much to tell. Her and Stuart livin the modern life of love and art right?" John gave me a certain look as to keep quiet about Liam. I just stayed silent as John did most of the talking and catching up for me. George often looked my way and I agreed to John's words now and then. But I knew he knew something was off. He knew me to well. It was only a matter of time he'd find out the truth about Liam's existence. How would he react? I knew I was digging myself a deeper hole. But the idea of George turning his back on me was what I feared the most. I was playing with his emotions and it wasn't fair to him or Stuart.

"George..." I interrupted a chatting John. "I need to tell you....

"Molly." John spoke.

"He needs to know."

"What is this??" George asked nervously.

"A few months ago I got pregnant and....I had a little boy." I blurted. John just shut his eyes in preparation for the worst. George's facial expression was still and distant for a few seconds. My palms were sweaty as I rubbed them on my jeans.

"I have to go." Was all he said before standing up and walking away. I stood up to follow but John grabbed my arm and pulled me into his arms arms as I began to cry into his chest, fearing the fact I may have just lost my bestfriend.
