Little Tony (2)

This chapter happens about 16 years before season 1 of NCIS on Netflix. Soo let's get goin'! The perspective won't change in this chapter, but in normal chapter's it will. So just be sure to pay attention!

Tony's P.O.V.

"Ellie should be awake soon," I commented, stretching. I had been awake for the past 3 hours, getting something done for NCIS. I had been working there for a while, but ever since Elioriana was born, I had to start working from home till she was old enough to go to school. But for now, she was still only two. I didn't much like the idea of day-care, and definitely not because you had to pay for it, but also because I don't want Ellie under anyone's care except my own or Abby's until she's old enough to know how to care for herself.

I heard sniffing from the nursery. The sniffing was soon replaced by soft crying. The soft crying then changed to quiet sobbing. I walked into the nursery, and looked into the crib. Ellie was lying flat on her back, her little fists hitting the mattress, her red blanket was twisted all around her, binky trapped in the folds somewhere.

"Hey there squirt," I said, picking her up. I carefully moved the blanket from around her legs, neck, and arms, and placed it back in her crib. I picked up her binky, and walked into the kitchen, Ellie still crying. "I know squirt, I know you're hungry. Just give me one second." I insisted, pulling open one of the cupboards.

Struggling only a little bit, I got Ellie in her chair, and got her favourite mashed plums. I set them with a spoon in front of her, and made breakfast for myself.

"Ellie," I said playfully, setting my mug of coffee on the table. There was plum in her hair now. "You're supposed to eat the plums."

After I cleaned up both Ellie, and breakfast, I picked her up, and took her back to the nursery. We got her dressed, and I picked her up again. "Let's say good morning to your mommy shall we?" I offered. In the nursery, there were crates full of books attached to the wall. Beneath the crates were a whiteboard, and a chalkboard, with the necessary accessories. Living on top of the crates were a bunch of pictures. The largest one was a picture of Hope DiNozzo. "Hi mommy," I said, holding Ellie up till she was eye level with the picture. "Hope you had a good night." I said, chuckling slightly.

We continued talking to the picture for a few minutes, before I got teary. "Well, we love you mommy." I finished, taking Ellie into my office. I sat her on the ground, and handed her her teddy bear -who she had affectionately named 'Teddy'. I sat at my desk, and kept working.

"Dada?" Ellie babbled after a few hours.

"Yes squirt?" I replied, turning my head towards her, but keeping my eyes on my computer. "What do you need?"

"I nee' help." She said sadly. I walked around, and crouched down in front of the only family I had left. I cocked my head. "I can'  find Teddy." She complained, rubbing her eyes with her fists. She started crying after a few moments.

"What happened?"

"We were playin' hi-n-seek." She whined, her fists rubbing her eyes again. "An'- an' I can' find 'im!" She cried, her fists landing on the floor next to her.

"Hey, hey, hey. It's okay squirt. I'll help you find Teddy okay?" I insisted, picking her up. She nodded, and curled into my side. "Do you know where he hid?"

"No," Ellie said dejected.

"It's okay squirt," I promised, rubbing my hand up and down her back. "We'll find him. Do you think he's in your room?"

"I don' rememer." Ellie buried her face in my shirt.

I walked around my office, looking for the brown crocheted teddy bear Hope left for Ellie. I gasped softly, and pointed to something behind a filing cabinet. "Do you see what I see Ell?" Ellie sat up, and looked where I was pointing.

"No," She disagreed, curling up again.

"I think I see something." I crouched down next to the filing cabinet, and touched the brown arm poking out from behind it. "What's this?" I asked, tugging it gently. Ellie looked up again.

"Teddy!" Ellie exclaimed, pulling the stuffed bear out from behind the cabinet. "I miss 'ou." She hugged him tightly. "Tank daddy." She hugged me too.

"Of course squirt." I agreed, hugging her back.

"I's hungee." Ellie complained.

"Is it time for lunch?" I asked, picking her up again.

"Yea!" Ellie agreed. "Shell, shell, shell!" She insisted.

"Okay, let's go make some food for you." I agreed, walking into the living room. I sat Ellie on the couch, and clicked on the tv. "Why don't you watch some Max and Ruby while I make your lunch?" Ellie nodded, and sat her bear down next to her.

I slid the VHS tape into its slot, and clicked play. I rewound to where the first episode started. Ellie babbled along with the title sequence, while I went into the kitchen.

"You want some cheese too squirt?" I asked a few minutes later.

"Ya huh pwees!" She agreed. So, I put some cheese on top of Ellie's noodles. I sat on the couch next to Ellie, and gave her the bowl full of noodles and cheese. "Tank!" She babbles.

"Are you ready for bedtime Ellie?" I asked. It was 8 o'clock now. I turned, expecting to find Ellie playing on the floor behind me, but she wasn't there. "Ellie, where are you?"

"You never fin' me." Her voice said from somewhere. She giggled, and the sound of it rang through the room.

I stood up, and walked out of my office. "Where are you?" I asked in a sing-song voice. Ellie giggled again, and the sound came from my right. I looked around a bit in the dining room, and saw something move under the table. I smirked. "Is she... in the kitchen?" I asked, poking my head in the kitchen. "No. What about... in my room?" I walked in and out of my bedroom over dramatically. "Where are you?" I asked in a singsong voice. I placed my hands on the table, and heard Ellie giggle uncontrollably. "I," I dragged out the word. "Found ya!"

I grabbed her, and quickly pulled her out from under the table -making sure she didn't hit her head. I tickled her till she was out of breath. "Da- da- da- da- da- STOP!" She insisted, laughing uncontrollably. I released her, and plopped her down on the couch.

"Do you think I can take my socks off before you can take your socks off?" I asked, narrowing my eyes, and smirking. Ellie rolled onto her back, and grabbed her feet. She got a hold of her little yellow socks, and started pulling. I undid my shoe laces very slowly, letting Ellie get her socks off. "You need some help?" Ellie was grunting, and trying to pull her toes off. She nodded. I reached over, and pulled the sock over her ankle.

"Tanks," She said, in her high voice, as she took the sock off of the rest of her foot. "I win!" She exclaimed a few seconds later.

"Aahhh," I said pretending to be exasperated, and leaning back against my armchair. "You win again." I stuck my tongue out at her. She stuck her tongue out back. I moved my head back and forth, still holding out my tongue. Ellie crawled to the end of the couch, and mocked my movements. "Alright, let's get ready for bed." I picked her up off of the couch, and swung her around to my back. Ellie giggled as I ran into her room, her still on my back.

"Do you want to try by yourself first? Or do you want me to help?" I asked, taking a yellow pajama shirt out of one of Ellie's dresser drawers.

"I ca' do i'." She insisted, starting to pull her shirt over her head. She got stuck a few seconds later. "Halp," She insisted, when she couldn't get her head through. I chuckled, and helped her out of her shirt. When she got out of it, she fell backwards. She grunted, and stood up again. I helped her pull her dress over her head.

"Can you put your arms through?" I asked.

Ellie's eyes got huge, and she screamed. "My arms!" She shouted, running around in circles. "I 'ave no arms!" She yelled. "Ahhh!"

"Ahhh!" I agreed, moving back in mock fright. "People without arms don't get cuddles." I reasoned.

She quickly pushed her arms through their respected sleeves, her eyes huge. "I wan' culles." She insisted.

"Okay, come here." I agreed, holding my arms out to her. She ran towards me, and tried to wrap her arms around me. I hugged her, and put my chin on the top of her head. "Ellie, I have to tell you something important." I whispered.

"Wha' is i'?" She asked, not letting go of me, also whispering.

I got really close to her ear, and breathed the next three words into her ear. "I love you."

"Can I tell you somefing impoan'? She asked, giggling. We let go of each other, and our eyes met. I nodded. She stood on her tiptoes, and cupped her hands around her mouth and my ear. Warm child breath. Mmmh. My favourite thing. Other than sarcasm of course. "I 'ove yoo too." She smiled, and backed up.

"Alright," I said, picking her up. "Time for bed now." Ellie nodded, and cuddled against my chest. We got the rest of the way ready for bed, and went back into Ellie's nursery. Ellie was still teething, so I got her binky from the freezer. I had seen this thing on the internet that if your baby is teething, you put water in their binky, and freeze it, supposedly it's soothing.

So I set Ellie down in her crib, and offered her the blue, ice filled binky. She took it excitedly, and seemed to enjoy it. She held Teddy close to her, as I sat in the rocking chair next to her crib.

"Once upon a time, there was a prince."

"No!" Ellie said giggling. "A fawe." She insisted.

"A fairy then," I agreed.

"And she had magic powers. And and and and and and, and she got coursed by a mea' ol' witch. And then she use her magic powers to get ou'. And then, and then, and then, and then, and then she meets a prince! And they get marrwied, and live 'appily ever aftor, tha end."

"And they live happily ever after the end," I agreed. I kissed the top of her head, and turned on the baby monitor next to her. "Good night Ellie,"

"Ni' ni' dadda."
