Part 1

I did it. I finally confessed my feelings to the one I love. Lucy Heartfillia.

I don't know how long I actually knew these feelings. I just knew that they were getting stronger by the day. Whenever I'm with Lucy, I feel a certain way that I don't feel like with anyone else. Not with Happy, and not even with Lissanna. I just want to be with Lucy all the time. Sure that seemed normal, but recently, I've been getting the strange urge to just hold her hand, hold her in my arms, and even wanting... to kiss her.

Eventually, I came to the conclusion that I liked Lucy more than just friend. I was in love with her. If I wasn't in love with her, then what else could it be?

About five hours ago, Lucy, Happy, and the rest of my team and I got back from a job. When they all went inside the guild hall before us, I stopped Lucy, making it just us alone outside.

***Flashback***

"What is it Natsu?" Lucy asked me.

After a long journey on a mission, we finally returned to our home Magnolia. Throughout the whole entire trip, I debated nonstop whether I should confess to Lucy once we get back or not. When I came to from my motion sickness, I have decided to tell Lucy as soon as possible, once we're alone. When we came back to the guild, I let Happy, Gray and Erza go inside first so that I could be alone with Lucy.

So here we are in front of the guild hall.

"I have something to tell you." I began.

Lucy tilted her head and batted her eyeshades with anticipation. "What is it?" She looked so darn cute. How should I confess to her? I should've developed a better plan for this.

Calm down, Natsu. You've improvised before, so I'm sure you'll be able to wing this one. "You... you look pretty today."

"Oh... well thank you." She smiled. Man, why's it so hard to tell her? "Come on. The others will be wondering where we are."

She turned around, but before she was able to take that first step, I stopped her by her wrist. Lucy looked back surprised at my sudden action. I had no idea what had gotten into me either, but I had to do this either now or never.

I looked directly into her eyes and took a deep breath. "I like you!" I finally forced out.

Lucy gasped with wide eyes. I continued to speak. "I like you, Lucy. And I don't mean it in the way I love Happy, or gramps, or Fairy Tail. To me, you're more than my best friend. You're the most important person to me. You make me feel something that I've never felt before, which is why I love... you." When I let go of her wrist, I could feel the sweat forming on my palms. My heart was beating uncontrollably.

I waited for her response. Even though it might have been seconds, it felt like forever. Finally, she opened her mouth.

"Natsu, I..."

Lucy's sentence was interrupted when the doors to the guild hall creeped opened with a blue exeed's head popping out.

"There you guys are! What are you doing out here?"

"Not now, Happy." I gestured him to leave. "But Natsu, it's Lisanna's birthday today, remember? Mira made cake and everything." Happy was starting to sound disappointed. Before I tried my second attempt to send him away, Lucy spoke.

"That's okay, Happy. We were about to walk in anyway."

As I watch Lucy walk passed me, I couldn't read her facial expression. Was she happy? Was she nervous? Was she embarrassed? I couldn't tell.

In the guild hall, everyone was celebrating Lissana's big birthday bash. Gajeel was tuning his guitar on stage in his white suite while Cana was drinking like there was no tomorrow. When Elfman accidentally murdered Erza's cake while picking a fight with Gray, the whole guild was caught in a battle royal. Normally, I would take a piece of that action, but I was in no mood for it. My confession to Lucy kept replaying in my head. The image finally stopped when someone patted me on the shoulder. I turned around to meet a pair of gorgeous chocolate eyes.

"Give me some time to think and I'll give you my answer later."

***Present***

So we agreed that we would meet up later tonight at the Sola Tree at South Gate Park. She should be coming any minute now.

Did I do the right thing? Speaking out my mind and opening my feelings towards the most important person to me. What could she possibly be considering? Does she feel the same?

Suddenly, I heard the footsteps of high heels over gravel. I turned my head towards the source to see a beautiful blond wearing a short black dress with white laces. Her brown leathered boots were knee high, and she had a white belt holding her waist and a pink heart-shaped necklace around her neck.

It was Lucy.
