Chapter 4

~{Alex POV}~

{A week later}

Reese and I took a week off from our job. They understood and allowed it. We've been doing research about what's happening to us, but so far, nothing has came up. "Have you found anything?" I asked. She shook her head no. "I can't find anything.. I found one thing, but it was faked." She said. I sighed. "What the hell happened to us?" I said to myself. Reese looked to be deep in thought. Her eyes then went wide. "What?" I asked. "I think I know what's happening." She said and got up. "Where are you going?" I asked. "Get dressed, we're going to the library." She said firmly. I nodded and got up. I got ready and we left in Reese's car. "Why are we going to the library?" I asked again. "When I first moved here I went to the library. I stumbled upon a book about something called Lacade. They are wolf like humans who grow wolf like traits after years of being it. They are usually above twenty, but rarely found as early and late teens." She said. "There must be others. Wild cat like ones called Niris, owl ones called Orant.. I could go on and on." She sighed.

About fifteen minutes later, we arrived. We both got out and went inside. "Oh hello Reese. Who is this?" An elder woman at the reception desk asked. "Hello Ms. Olin, this is Alex, and we're looking for that book on the animal hybrids. Do you still have it?" She asked. "It's back in the fantasy section. I hope you find what you're looking for, sweetie!" Ms. Olin said and went back to her book. She seems really nice and motherly.

I followed Reese and we both looked through books. I found some books that looked like the one that Reese described. "Have you found anything yet, Alex?" She asked. "I found a few books on it, but other than that, no." I replied. She sighed. She then looked up on the top shelf. Her eyes widened and she looked back down. "I'll be right back, I'm going to go ask if Ms. Olin has a ladder." She said and walked out of the isle. What did she see?

I looked up to the exact same place Reese looked at. There was a book named 'Hybrids: a factorial novel'.

"I'm back, and she let us use the ladder she had in the back." Reese exclaimed. Alex looked over at her. "Was that the book you were talking about?" She asked, looking back up. Reese nodded and put the ladder down, then climbed up to the top shelf.

~{A few hours of researching later because I'm not creative}~

As we got done, we both yawned. "Tired?" I asked. Reese nodded. "Hey, at lease we know more about this." I said, and looked around us. There were about five to seven books on the table. We both got up and went to put the books back. Once we got done, we thanked Ms. Olin and headed back home.

Reese dropped me off at my apartment, and I went back inside.

~{Reese POV (this is going to hurt me so much writing this)}~

I went back home. I parked beside the house like I normally do. I went to get my keys out when all I heard was silence. 'Bull normally comes and scratches at the door when I come home. Something isn't right..' I thought and hurriedly unlocked and opened the front door.

What I seen was a disaster.

My furniture was torn and flipped, pictures on the walls were scattered everywhere, and I didn't see my dog. "Bull?!" I shouted and want to the kitchen. I looked to the back door. It was broken down. "This wasn't Bulls doing.." I said to myself and ran to my bedroom. There laid my dog, bloodied and wounds.

I started to cry. "No.." I walked over slowly. "Please no.." I kneeled down and leaned over him. He wasn't breathing. "No!" I shouted. "Please no!" I picked him up and ran to my bathroom, not caring about the mess and blood. I then smelled a familiar scent. My eyes widened. My nose kept twitching. My sadness slowly melted into anger.

I put Bull down and continued to sniff the air. I growled and looked around the house to see if he was still here. Thankfully he wasn't. I can still remember where he lived. I quickly called Alex. "Hello?" Alex answered. "Alex I need your help. Again." I said. "What's going one?" They asked. I inhaled. "Okay, let me explain. So after I dropped you off, I came home. And I went to unlock the door. Bull normally comes and claws at the door. Well, this time he.. he didn't." I said. "Wait what happened?" They asked again. "I went inside and.. and the whole house was ransacked." I heard something that sounded like quick ruffling, a quiet 'bye Kiara' and a door slam. "Okay what's your address?" They asked. I gave it to them. "Okay, see you in a few minutes." They said and hung up. I went back to the bathroom where my Bull was. I picked him up and sat in in the bathtub. I started to cry a lot more. "Why you, Bull?" I asked myself. In inhaled and started to clean the still wet blood of him. He had three bullet wounds, and one knife wound in his sides. I know exactly who did this.

A few minutes later, I hear a car pull up, shut off and another door slam. I got up and wiped my hands off from the soap and blood. "Hello?" I heard a voice say. It was Alex. They looked around. "Where's Bull?" They asked. I looked down and motioned them to follow me. They did and I led them to the bathroom. They gasped. "What happened to Bull?" They asked in concern. I didn't say anything, and led them to the spot I found him in. They started to sniff the air like I did. "Someone was here."

I nodded, and looked up. "And I know exactly who." I said and took off my hoodie and beanie. The white and grey wolf ears stuck out like a sore thumb on my dark hair, but I didn't care. I felt pain in my hands, and at my fingertips. I fell, starting to softly scream in pain. Alex bent down in front of me and sked what's was wrong. I didn't reply, instead I just kept on shakily breathing in and out. I looked down at my hands. My nails grew two times longer. "What the hell?" I said. The nails themselves were black, and curved at the ends.

I held my hands put in front of me. 'I'm going to have to be careful with these..'

(AAAND THAT'S WHERE I'M GOING TO LEAVE OFF! Okay but seriously, this chapter pained me to write- ~Kitty)
