Nandini was sitting in front of the operation theater. Her eyes were fixed on the door as she was waiting for the door to open and doctor to come and tell her what her heart wants to hear.

Here in the OT the person was laying unconscious. His heartbeats slow. His injured body covered with bandages and doctors treating him. Every inch of his body attached with tubes and the line on the monitor screen was describing his remaining life. He was fighting for his lady love. He was fighting for his life.

Outside the OT Nandini was lost in her thoughts. She was remembering what happened few hours ago. She was remembering the dreadful incident and before that the beautiful confession.

Nandini was standing on the cliff where the person who happened to be her boyfriend whom she was dating from the past one year asked her to meet him. She was staring at the decorations which seems to be a perfect date setup or you can say proposal setup.

She was staring all decked up in red knee length frock which reached her mid thigh and had a cut there. The dress was perfectly fitting her each curve of the body. Indeed she was looking like an angel.

The boy came and looked at her only to be get lost in her beauty. He was clean bowled staring at her lady love who manage to make him fall for her every time he look at her. He cleared his throat to gain her attention.

She turned around after hearing the sound and saw the intense gaze of the person who is her boyfriend. She turned her face again. Her back facing him. After few seconds of self-talk she again turned only to get shocked as the person was kneeling down.

She knew what was coming. She fucking knew but the question was, was she ready? Hell no! She didn't even love him. (This is what she thoughts) She had made it clear from the very start that this isn't gonna happen.

"Nandini, I know what you wanna say but please hear me out first." She nodded her head asking him to continue.

"Nandini, I know baby you have made it very clear from the start that what we have between is just the name sake pretend game but I, Manik Malhotra, is in love with you not from today or yesterday but from the very first day itself when I first saw you. From the day when we made this deal. I'm completely, deeply, madly and irrecoverably in love with you." He paused for a second before continuing.

"I said yes for this deal because it was a way for me to stay close to you. I knew from the very start that your answer is gonna be a big fat no but I just wanna say can you please for my sake think of this relation, think of US, seriously? Can you give US a serious chance?" He after completing his confession looked towards her only face her back.

She had turned around the moment he started to confess his love. This was not what she wanted. This was not gonna happen. But these strange feelings in her heart which she was ignoring from quite a long time now was overpowering her.

No!! This shouldn't be happened. She kept reminding herself and turned around to face him after mustering courage. She turned and looked at him. He was still kneeling down. She made him stand. She held his hands and looked straight into his eyes.

"Manik I have already told you this but I'm once again saying that this relationship was just a pretend game for me. This was just a name sake relationship to pretend in front of our families that's it. Nothing less or nothing more." He was keenly looking at her. He knew this was going to happen. He knew from the very start that his heart was going to break but he listened to his heart and poured it out in front of her only to get it crushed.

"Nandini as I said I know but just for once pl-" his sentence was cut by her. "I don't love you Manik." She said breaking his heart once again into millions of pieces which he cannot gather back.

"Oh-okay. I get it. Actually I knew it was bound to happened. Don't know why I was expecting a positive response." He said running his hand in his hair messing it more. He took a long sigh. "Very well then. So its a goodbye!? " He said more of like asked a question.

"Yes." She said and forwarded her hand for the formal handshake but he instead of shaking hand moved forward to hug her. And she was ready for it cause this was going to be last hug of them.

He wrapped his arms around her and held her tightly. She too reciprocated the same. She too tightened her hold on him cause after this nothing was going to be normal back. They were going to be strangers not even friends let alone any kind of relationship.

After sometime he broke the hug and moved back from her. "I hope we never cross each other's path and see each other." He said. His voice choking as if he was on the verge of breaking down. "I hope the same." She too said and moved backwards.

He walked past her and starting going towards the main road where his car was parked. She was watching his every step and thinking about her decision which she just took. She was thinking that he didn't even asked her once again to rethink.

As she was lost he turned for one last time standing in the middle of the road looking in her eyes and asking to rethink just for once. Their eyes talking. They were so lost that no one heard the horn of the truck.

As the sound got louder and clearer Nandini came out of her thoughts only to scream at her highest pitch, "Maniiiikkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk".

"Maniiiikkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk" she woke up from her nightmare and looked at the door of the OT. She sighed. Only if she had realized that the feelings which she was feeling at that moment, the feelings which she was ignoring were her love for him.

She now realized but guess what it was too late. Was it??

Up all night on another red eye

She again closed her eyes and start remembering her beautiful memories of her and Manik. She once used to think that they were just the simple moments spend with him but they were the most beautiful moments for Manik and now for her too.

She was remembering everything from the day she met him till today. She remembered every fucking thing and regret the way she broke his heart. The way she broke Manik.
She was regretting every thing.

Only if she had listened to her heart before and took the best decision then she and Manik would have been together now.

The doctor came out of the OT and looked at the pale girl whose tears had just dried. He moved towards her and shook her a little. She looked at the doctor and stood up abruptly asking him about Manik.

"Doctor, how's he? Is he alright? Oh what am I even asking I know he is alright. He has to be for me. Can I meet him?" She asked all in a go. "Am sorry my child we tried our best but- " he was cut by Nandini.

"What do you mean by but? Nothing has happened to him. He is perfectly alright. Nothing his happened to him. Did you hear? Nothing has happened to him." She saying so started crying.

"I will just say control yourself and be patient. He is asking for you. He has just few moments left." Saying this the doctor left from there leaving the girl in the vulnerable state.

The smile that you gave me
Even when you felt like dying

She entered the ward where he has been shifted and saw his pale face. His body bandaged but there were no tubes on his body now. His wounds were still fresh. She was looking at him wiping her tears which were flowing non stop.

Hearing the sound of the door Manik opened his eyes and looked towards Nandini. He smiled sadly looking at her crying and gestured her to come towards him. She moved and stood in front of him. He asked her to sit down.

She sat on the stool near his bed and took hold of his hand. "Nothing is going to happen to you. We will go to the world's best doctor. You will be fine. Everything will be fine." She said and kissed his forehead.

He looked towards her and smiled faintly. "Am going away from you. Look I fulfilled you this wish too. Now I will never trouble you with my one sided useless feelings." He said and chuckled remembering her childish wishes.

She looked at him and shook her head hysterically crying. "Nothing will happen to you. Am saying na you have to be fine for yourself. For me. I love you. I love you so much. I know I've realized it very very late but better late than never right!? Nothing is gonna happen to you. You love me na you have to be fine for me. We have so much to see. There's a lot which we have explore, together."

"Indeed you realized your love lately but please it's already very difficult for me to leave you here all alone in this cruel world. Don't make it more difficult for me please." He said to her wiping her tears.

"Nothing will happen to you. You are going to be fine Manik Malhotra do you get that ?" She said sternly to him. He nodded his head knowing there was no other way around. He bend her a little and spoke in her ears, "Can we please go out? I want some fresh air."

She nodded her head helping him to stand and they reached the garden outside the hospital and seated on the bench kept there.

Both were sitting silently. Nandini broke the silence. "I love you Manik and I'm so sorry for brutally breaking your heart. Am so sorry." "Shhhh.... You Don't have to be and I love you too." He said and they again sat in silence.

Nandini put her head on his shoulder. He also held her from her waist side hugging her. They were still sitting silently when Manik suddenly said, "I love you Nandini. I love you so very much. I always had and I always will. I knew from the very start that you also loved me but I thought let you confess on your own but what a irony ? Am on the death bed and I have just few more min-" "Shhhh... Don't say like this you'll be fine. I love you." He was cut by her. She again confessed her love.

They again sat in silence but just after few seconds Manik whispered in her ear, "I love you Nandini and It indeed is a goodbye." Nandini felt her body stiffen. This was not what she wanted to happen. No this can't be happened.

She tried to look at Manik's face but his whole weight was on her and his hand had slipped from her back to the bench long time back. Tears started flowing her from eyes automatically once again.

The doctor who came to check on him found him dead and with the help of other staff members brought him in the mortal room. He gave a sympathetic look to Nandini who sat their still devoid of any emotion but tears continuously flowing from her eyes and went inside.

Nandini was trying to process all that happened few hours ago till now. This was too much for her in one day. Her mind was blanked. She was asking herself was she ready for it? And then chuckled. She has asked the same question from herself before and that too today itself.

But this time her heart and mind both gave answer that No! She was not. And she started to cry loudly. It also started raining as if the clouds were crying with her on her fate.
