So we landed in New Jersey somewhere, (since it was less obvious than us going to New York, which Toby was right about as it was his suggestion), (though of course he's right as he's fucking Toby), Toby had our new passports as he was the responsible one of the two of us, (that was a wise decision for both of us as I would've lost the passports almost immediately to be honest with you here).

"Right, if anyone asks you for your name, your name is Amanda Higgins and I'm your adopted Dad Terry Higgins"
"Cool, so you're gonna interrogate my future husbands then?"
"If you need me to do so"
"Cool cool, I can deal with that"

So we actually got through airport security pretty quickly, (though this was like 5 years before 911 here, so you wouldn't get through that quickly nowadays), we then got a taxi to where we we're gonna stay, (well live, as this wasn't a holiday), (well vacation for the Americans here today).

"Toby, this is a pretty nice crib that you got for yourself"
"Well I used my contacts to get a nice house"
"That was a smart idea"
"You don't say Clara"
"Oh piss off old man"
"I'm literally only 3 years older than you"
"And yet you adopted me"
"That I did Clara, that I did"
"Therefore you are an old man as you're my old man Toby"

So I unpacked my bags, (as you do when you have arrived somewhere, especially if you move into somewhere, ya know), not that I had much stuff to unpack as Gary wouldn't let me get my stuff from the house, (because he's a bastard and he hates my guts for some reason), (I say some reason as I have never gotten to the bottom of why he hates me, ya know).

The whole ordeal with Gary had started to set in, like I would never see my Mum or my sisters again, I wasn't that bothered with not seeing my Mum again, (since she chose to put up with his shit, so she had made her bed and so she had to lie in it), I was quite bothered with not seeing my sisters again, since they didn't start any of this bullshit, and they would ultimately pay the price for it, (as they didn't ask for him to be their Dad).

Toby made us dinner, which was Mac and cheese, I say this because it was the first time we both had Mac and cheese since it's an American thing to eat, (I was not a fan of it though to be honest with you here, but I could actually say that I tried it now, so that was a plus, in like a weird way), (if you like it then good for you but it's not my cup of tea to be honest here).

"What did you do to it Toby?"
"I literally made it according to the instructions on the bloody box here Clara"
"Then I'm not having Mac and cheese again, it's bloody rank"
"I'm actually agree with you on that, it just doesn't seem right to me"
"At least we can tick it off the foods to try while living in America list"
"That's true"

Anyway we finished the Mac'n'cheese off, since we wouldn't be eating that again, (since Mac'n'cheese was not our cup of tea), (as you could very well tell), (and not eating it there and then would've been a waste of food, which made me feel weird as food was not something that we could waste as children, ya know), Toby then asked me some questions, as he should.

"So, what's the big plan for America then Clara?"
"I don't actually know, I do know that I need to buy a car though"
"That would be handy, yes"
"Oh piss off Toby"
"I live here too ya know"
"I do know that yes, as I was the one to bring you-"
"Only because you would be found out in 2 weeks"
"Anyway as I was saying before I was rudely interrupted, I was going to put 'buy a car' on the agenda for tomorrow"
"That is quite a smart idea Kiddo"
"I know, that's why I said it"

Toby then pulled me into a hug, as he somehow could tell that I needed one, (that's just the Dad in him shining though, ya know).

"How did you know that I needed a hug?"
"Because I know you and your quirks"
"That doesn't explain anything"
"It translates to 'you're my kid and you're not as unreadable as you think', happy now?"
"You're such a smart arse"
"You had to get it from somewhere"
