Chapter 5

Logan sighed as he curled into Roman's side. He could be the happiest man alive if he could do that every day. He felt bad about upsetting Roman in the school bathrooms, but he didn't know how to deal with relationships. He knew Roman was there for him, but he also knew that he was prone to explode over the smallest thing and he could really upset him.

"What're you thinking about." Roman's voice pulled him from his thoughts and he looked up at his boyfriend. He didn't want to keep him in the dark, but he didn't know how he was supposed to explain how he felt.

"Relationships." He sighed and glanced back at the TV. "I'm just... Scared. I don't want to lose you, but I don't know what to do when it comes to us."

"Then just take your time. There's no rush here, Lo."

He sighed and looked at their hands. "I want to jump into things and have a real relationship, but at the same time... I don't want to lose everything."

"Just tell me what you want and we can work through it." Roman pressed a kiss to Logan's temple and sighed softly. "I care about you, a lot, and I won't make you do something you're not comfortable with."

"I just want to be with you. That's all I know, right now." He leaned further into Roman's chest and sighed happily, falling asleep soon after.

Logan woke up to the sound of the front door opening and he sighed. His head hurt and he recalled why he despised crying so much. He looked up to see Roman awake. He looked down when he felt Logan shift slightly and smiled.

"Pat is here with Virge." Was all Roman said before Logan sat up and their friend and their friend's crush walked in.

"Hey, how are you feeling?" Virgil sat next to Logan, reaching for his hand. Virgil never liked being kept in the dark about things, which was why Logan felt bad about not telling him about being with Roman. He sighed softly and looked over to Roman, seeing him talking with Patton.

"I've been better." He sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I really like him, but when I'm with him, I feel like I'm being suffocated. I don't want him to stop or go away, I just need the anxiety over a relationship to leave."

"It's understandable. He wasn't the best person you could have been with, and being with someone like that for a first relationship sets the bar low, but it also makes it hard to move past. I get it. I just think you need to take time to realise that he isn't a bad guy to be with."

"It's not... I... It's not that I don't know that..." Logan paused, confused about the way his words were coming out. "I do know he's a good guy, I just don't know how I can handle a long term relationship with my best friend, especially when he's still around. I don't want to lose him either."

"You won't lose him. He will never walk away from you. Roman adores you, and you both deserve happiness."

Logan smiled softly. "I love him, V." He looked to his hands. "I really do. I just don't know how to tell him."

"Well, you could start by realising he heard everything you just said." Virgil teased him lightly, watching with a small smile as his cheeks turned pink.

Logan jumped slightly as Roman's arms wrapped around his waist and he pressed a kiss to Logan's temple.

"I love you too," Roman whispered, smiling fondly at the boy he'd grown to completely adore.

Logan nodded, smiling softly. "Good." He managed out. He turned in Roman's hold and smiled at his boyfriend. "Kiss me?" He whispered, making sure Patton and Virgil couldn't hear.

"With pleasure." Roman smiled and connected their lips, both males loving the surprised gasps they got in response.

That evening, after Logan had fallen asleep in Roman's lap, and Virgil was curled up asleep in the armchair, Roman turned to Patton.

"I'm worried about him."

"He will get better," Patton tried.

"I know. It would help if he knew what he wanted though. Sometimes he wants all, sometimes he wants nothing. I don't know how to help him. We've been best friends forever and I still can't help him get over his ex."

"You don't need to help him get over it. It's not a hurdle. It's more like a pot hole. You either go around it and avoid the damage, or hit it head on and get through the pain. He needs to hit his pothole and realise that it's not the same pothole he hit last time. His ex was one of those really bad ones that scuffs the bumper of the car. It makes him wary of any other pothole. You're one of the ones that's not as deep or damaging. You won't damage the car or him. He just needs to build up the courage to hit the pothole head one. He may go around it a few times and backtrack. But he will get there."

"You know what you're talking about..." Roman smiled and looked at Patton.

"Well, I've had a few potholes before. Or I suppose they could be called ditches. I seem to drive right into them when it comes to crushes. I seem to have done it again," he gestured to the kitchen.

"Virgil? You most definitely haven't hit a ditch with him. He's just anxious to ask you out."

"Really?"

"Really... You just have to be patient with him. He doesn't do well when being put on the spot sometimes.

"I'll keep that in mind. Thanks Roman."

"No problem."

Maybe things would work out. Logan just needed time, and Patton needed that little extra push to talk to Virgil about his feelings.

-

It took a while, and there was no way that their relationship was perfect, but they eventually got onto the same page. They were finally happy and Logan was no longer uncomfortable with Roman or anxious about the relationship.

They were all finally happy. And Logan's ex? Turned out he hadn't changed at all and was expelled from the school, forced to move to another district, after having too many 'child pornographic' images on his phone.

Logan was finally relaxed after that. He was grateful to have support, and to finally see the end of his ex at his high school and job.
