I Love To Hate You
I Love To Hate You
Chapter One. Facing tears, new people and a Jerk.
Worst thing about leaving is goodbyes and even worse are the tears that follow and the windpipe, lung crushing hugs and the twinge in your heart of holding back tears but not letting anyone see them.
"Mom, Mom! God, it'll be okay. Remember I said I wanted to go until everything settles down." I assured my mom who couldn't stop crying.
My parents were going through a rough time and they felt they needed a time out and trust me I didn't want to be in the middle of their problems and when I probably was one of them. So now, I was going to go live with my mother's younger sister and she was the best! She was young, single and totally cool and the best of all she didn't have any family so it would be the two of us but my aunt worked late so there were more chances of me having the house to myself.
"Aren't you going to miss your friends here? Aren't you going to miss me? We can call May and tell her you won't be coming." My mother babbled on. I looked at my dad for help but he just smiled at me sadly. I hugged him and before letting him go I whispered.
"Take care of her, please. I hope everything works out." I said and added. "I love you dad."
"I love you too. Take care Trix." My dad said before kissing my forehead. I hugged my mom now and she held on to me.
"Trixie, please take care of yourself. Call me when you land and when you reach home and before going to sleep okay?" she said
"Yes, mom. I will." I said smiling at her
"Beatrice, the minute I saw you I knew that name was perfect." She said smiling. I rolled my eyes and smiled at her.
"You would have found that name perfect for me even if I had a third eye, four legs and webbed hands and a beak." I said laughing and she laughed too.
"And don't trouble your aunt too much." She said in a serious tone.
"I will don't worry." I said and I heard the announcement to board the flight. God, I hate those robotic airport women! Couldn't they be a little more cheerful? It's like telling the people boarding the flight that they're about to die or something.
"You better go." Dad said. I nodded.
"Love you guys. Bye!" I waved and walked towards the boarding gate. I turned back to see my dad's arm around my mother comforting her. I smiled, maybe things would get better and I could back home earlier.
Goodbye, New York! Hello, California!

My flight had landed thirty minutes before the arrival time and that meant I had to wait for my aunt. I had two suitcases and one duffel bag with me. I was feeling extremely hot for some reason in my jeans and shirt that I had worn for comfort. Thank god, I had packed some of my shorts.
I saw my aunt, her short pixie auburn hair was actually, what I saw. My mother had the same hair color that I had not inherited. I had dark hair like my dad but I had my mother in me too so when I was out in the sun my hair looked reddish-gold. I had honey colored eyes like my dad, the pouty lips of my mother. I had wavy hair that ended in curls. I had my mothers' heart and fathers' brain. Overall, I was my parent's daughter and I didn't understand how they could not like each other since I was their mix. My aunt grinned at me and hugged me. Aunt May was good looking there was no doubt about it and she had this crazy personailty to go with it. I'm so going to enjoy my stay here.
"Damn, Trixie! Look at you! You're getting hotter by the day." She said and I grinned back.
"Obviously Aunt May, with an aunt like you I'm bound to be hot." I said and we both laughed. She helped me with my bags and got into her red convertible at which I gaped at like a monkey looking at a banana, hungrily. I'm amazing at describing myself, right? Ugh.
"When did you get this?" I asked as I sat down running my hands over the interior in awe. I didn't know much about cars but I knew how to appreciate them!
"Since I got a promotion and then started going out with my boss." She winked at me.
"So how's the guy?" I asked
"Why don't you see him and tell me." She said
"I get to see him?" I asked
"Yeah! He has been dying to meet my favorite nephew. Wait, that doesn't sound right! Niece! My niece. Sorry, you know me I always get confused with the feminine and masculine." She said and I just laughed.
"I'm your only niece." I said looking out the window as we passed buildings, trees and houses.
"You're also my favorite." She said winking at me making me chuckle. We reached over to a very Desperate Housewives residential area. Aunt May's house was beautiful! It was painted cream and had a picket fence. The garden was lush green but no flowers-just green. Inside we have a huge living room and a big kitchen, four bedrooms and four attached bathrooms.
"This is epic!" I said. Aunt May laughed.
"I know." She said, "Want to go check out your school?"
"Are you nuts? Why would I want to ruin my day?" I asked. She chuckled
"Well, I'm going over to the office now but I don't want to leave you alone. Want to tag along?" She asked hopefully.
"Nah, I"ll just take a walk in the neighborhood." I said plopping down on the couch.
"I'll take you to the library." Aunt May chimed. I got up immediately and she laughed.
"Wear something nice. We're going to meet Steve." She said as I bounded up the stairs with the bags. I shrugged.
I wore a shorts and a deep blue top that complimented my tanned skin. I put on my multi colored converse shoes and put some lip-gloss. What? It's not like I have to meet the guy dressed formally, plus, it's too hot to wear jeans!
"I look alright?" I asked aunt May as I bounded down the stairs.
"Aunt May, you look beautiful!" I said and she blushed lightly. She wore soft pink blouse and a black skirt and her hair was pinned up nicely but yet sexily.
"You ready? She asked, I nodded and we headed out the door and drove to the office.
Aunt May was working as a journalist and apparently going out with the guy who owns the paper aka the boss. Wow, right? Expect my aunt to break the employer policy.
The office was a glass building that had a beautiful lobby. Everyone greeted Aunt May and gave me polite smiles. We got into Aunt Mays cabin, was medium sized and colorful, with colorful painting on the deep red walls. I ran and sat on her black leather chair and I leaned into it and sighed. Aunt May chuckled.
"I know! It's awesome!" she said and I chuckled and got up from the chair letting Aunt May do her work.
She started doing her work and after I got bored inspecting her room I asked if I could go look around to which she just nodded. I went around the floor looking at the paintings that hung on the wall when suddenly someone bumped into me.
"I'm sorry." I said genuinely looking down at the big black vans. Cool shoes.
"Could you watch where you're going?" A boy said who couldn't have been a year older to me. He had deep blue eyes just like my shirt that held my gaze. His tan brought out his eyes and he had muscled arms with nice blonde hair. ooh, he's got the hair you want to run your fingers into. I have a weird fetish. A hair feeling fetish. Is something wrong with me? I don't care. I need to touch nice hair.
"I said I'm sorry." I said again a bit rudely. Just because he's got nice hair and nice everything doesn't mean you're mean to me.
"And I said look where you're going." He said smirking. Now, he's pissing me off.
"Whatever." I said and walked past him when he caught my arm and spun me around making my head bang into his chest. What the-
"Hey, let me go!" I yelled, squirming to get out of his grip.
"You're not supposed to be here." He said firmly.
"Dude, let go! I'm here with my aunt!" I said. His grip was tight and got even tighter as I tried to free myself.
"What's her name?" he asked tilting his head to the side, smirking, as if he didn't believe me.
"May Bryan's." I said still trying to free my hand. Stupid, iron grip.
"Why are you roaming around?"
"Because, I got bored! Jeez, I'm going to scream now if you don't let me go!" I warned and he looked at me amused and let me go.
"Thanks for nothing." I said heading back to Aunt Mays cabin.
Lesson one: Always knock before entering any room especially when your aunt has a boyfriend who works in the same building and they might be making out and stuff and you do not want to see it no matter how cute and romantic it might be.
They broke apart as they saw me and I turned red with embarrassment. I mumbled an apology.
"Steve, this is my niece Trix." Aunt May said straightening her hair. Steve smiled at me politely as he fixed his tie.
"Trix. Interesting name." Steve said shaking my hand.
"It's Beatrice but I couldn't say my own name right when I was a kid so Beatrice turned into Trix." I said and Steve chuckled.
"You are a lot like your aunt." He said
"She is my niece." Aunt May said putting her arm around me, grinning.
"So, Beatrice your Aunt May said you're going to start school from tomorrow. Nervous?" Steve asked.
"Yeah, but I don't hate being the new kid as much as I have to do all the work I've missed. A month of school is like is a truckload of work." I said
"Glad I'm not in high school." He said grinning. Steve was quite handsome. He had sandy-brown hair and green eyes. He had lean physique and was around six two. Totally aunt May. Steve excused himself, kissed aunt May on the cheek and left.
Aunt may hurriedly closed the door and looked at me
"So what do you think?" she asked
"He passed the first round." I said grinning and aunt May threw her fist in the air, doing a happy dance.
"I knew it!" she said.
"Are you done?" I asked raising my eyebrow at her. I wanted to go already!
"Yes, the library?" she asked and I nodded. The library was the most beautiful I had ever seen. The big, classy, ancient and movie type library. I quickly got a membership and then we went home. I was lost already in this beautiful place! I wouldn't mind dying here or being buried near my precious books. Yes, I claim them as mine. My Precious! Aunt May had to to literally drag me out of the library. I would have gone out screaming and fighting till the end but I decided to make my mother proud by acting like a lady walking out quitely but stubbornly.
I called up mom and dad as soon as we reached home. Aunt May had ordered Chinese and it was an awesome dinner as we watched a random movie.
"Go to bed." Aunt May said out of the blue startling me.
"What?" I looked at her, shocked.
"What? It's a school night." She said, shrugging.
"Not fair! You're supposed to be the cool aunty!" I whined.
"I'm also supposed to be responsible. Please, your mom will kill me." She begged. Aunt May was the kind who likes to bend the rules. Oh god, I hope she hasn't been faking being cool all this time!
"What she doesn't know won't hurt her!" I said.
"Trix." Aunt May said, trying to act stern. I tried not to smirk at her attempt to be stern but decided to agree anyway. I'm a good girl.
"Fine." I said sighing and went up to my bedroom. Before I knew, I was asleep.
I got up with a start wet and cold. I didn't understand as I looked at aunt May with an empty glass in her hand.
"What'd you that for?" I glared at her through blurry eyes.
"You weren't waking up so your mom had told me throw over you to wake you." She said as if it explained everything. It did. My mother and her evil tricks to wake me up.
"Ugh!" I groaned.
"Hurry up! You'll be late!" she said, going out of the room closing the door behind her.
I lay on the bed for a while looking at the ceiling. I got up and went to the bathroom. Taking a shower I came out and semi-dried my hair. I wore black Capri's and a yellow halter neck. Putting a hair band in my wrist in case, I decided to tie my hair. I took my book bag and went downstairs. Aunt May wore jeans and a formal shirt.
"Ready, for your first day of school?" she asked as she drank a sip of her juice. I picked up a slice of the toast; I took a bite and placed it back on the plate. I hate breakfast. I wrinkled my nose
"You still don't eat breakfast?" Aunt May asked.
"Why oil a well-oiled and running machine." I said as i picked up my bag.
"You have to keep putting oil so that it can run." She said.
"We'll see when it stops running." I said smirking when she didn't have anything to say. A boy walked towards aunt May and began talking to her. He had brown hair and green eyes.
"Nick, this is my niece Beatrice. It's her first day." Aunt May said and I smiled politely at him.
" Hey." He said smiling
"Which grade?" He asked.
"Eleventh." I said
"I'm a senior." He grinned.
"Cool." I said.
"Do you have a ride back home?" Nick asked.
"Would you mind driving her back home?" aunt May looked at me. As much I didn't want to I couldn't ignore aunt Mays pleading eyes.
"I don't mind." I said casually. I did!
"Cool." Nick smiled.
"If you don't mind could I tag along with you now?" I asked. Might as well go to school with one friend than being alone completely.
"Sure, if it's cool with May." Nick said flashing a quick smile.
"I'm good." She said. Aunt May hugged me.
"All the best!" she yelled as I sat in Nicks' green Nissan.
"So, where did you move from?" He asked.
"New York." I answered.
"Nice! Mind if I turn on the radio?" Nick asked, glancing at me.
"Is this car yours?" I asked.
"Ya." He said.
"Then you can if it's yours." I said. Nick chuckled.
"We need more girls like you at LAH." He said.
"Then Hell will break loose." I said, smiling slightly.
"You bet it will." He said grinning at me.
He turned on the stereo and put it on high volume. We reached school. It was let's say clean and big. Nick parked the car in the parking lot where there were many kids hanging around.
I walked the hallway and bumped into someone. I seriously needed to watch where I was going.
"Watch where you're going!" A familiar voice said, I looked up to see the same boy who I had bumped into. Nice way to start the morning, Not!
"What? Why the hell are you here?" I asked and the boy smirked.
"I should ask you the same thing." He said taking a step closer to me.
"At least I don't walk into people!" I said turning red with anger.
"Well it's your fault for being so damn tiny." He said. i'm not short!
"I'm not tiny it's you who's freaking taller than the empire state!" I said, glaring at him.
"I like that song." He said. Gosh, what brilliant eyes! I shook my head! No! No, brilliant eyes and crap!
"What?" I looked at him puzzled.
"We are young by Fun." He started humming the tune.
"Liam, meet Beatrice. She's new here." Nick said behind me.
"I've already met her." Liam smirked.
"Yeah, how?" Nick asked scratching the back was his head.
"A very unfortunate story." I said and walked past Liam when he grabbed my arm and spun me around.
"You shouldn't piss off a person who can squish you." Liam said his voice playful yet hinting a little darkness.
"You know what they say the taller they are the harder they fall." I said and pulled my wrist from his grip and walked to my homeroom.
A girl with strawberry blonde hair walked towards me she was dressed extremely well. She looked chirpy.
"Hey, I'm Ellie Sorenson." She said sticking out her hand smiling.
"Hey, I'm Beatrice." I said shaking her hand.
"Kind of a mouthful." She said grinning I shrugged. Ellie helped me to me next class that was English and after that, I had AP Biology in which I met Nick. There were two more juniors with me but they were extremely nerdy looking. Nick already had a partner and there were two seats left. One was next to some red head spectacled boy who had acne all over his face and was digging his nose. I had nothing against nerds because I was one but nose diggers I had a problem. I wrinkled my nose in disgust and sat in the last row. The person who was supposed to be sitting beside still hadn't reached class.
"Ah, you must be Ms. Laurence." Mr. Carlson said. His hair had started greying at its roots and he wore spectacles that were sliding down his nose.
"Yes, sir" I said.
"Your fathers' Jason Laurence the CEO of Laurence Inc.?" He asked and I blushed, as there were whispers in the class. Trust my dads money to follow me.
"Yes." I said in a monotonous voice. I had been asked this question many times as much as I hated it I knew how to handle it.
"Why have you come here, may I ask?" He asked. Wow, way to give a person their privacy.
"A personal choice sir." I said.
"And what is that?"
"None of your business." I said and laughter erupted in the class. Mr Carlson glared at me.
"Ms. Laurence we do not tolerate such attitude here no matter whose daughter you are." He said. I repressed the urge to roll my eyes. First impressions are forever, I chanted to myself.
"The feelings mutual, sir. I'm sure you don't make your other students talk about their personal matters in front of the class." I pointed out.
"Mr., Carlson if that girl has finished talking crap could I please come in." I looked over at the door where Liam leaned casually on the door his hands in his pocket. He smirked at me making me glower at him.
"At least I'm nice enough to apologize." I retorted.
"You call talking shit apologizing?" Liam asked.
"That's enough! There will be no such language tolerated in my class. Ms. Laurence since it's your first day I will not put you in detention and Mr. Marks I suggest you get to your seat." Mr. Carlson said.
To my horror I saw Liam walk towards me and sat down beside me.
"Why are you sitting here?" I asked whispering angrily.
"I should be asking you that and this is my seat." He said. Liam's hands were folded behind his head his muscles could be seen prominently.
"I don't see your name written on it!" I snapped and all of a sudden, Liam lifted the table over his head and showed me his name carved. Oh, there it was!
"Mr. Marks put out down school property!" Mr. Carlson yelled.
"She started it!" Liam pointed at me after putting the table down.
"I didn't ask you to prove anything!" I yelled defending myself.
"Both of you detention! Now!" Mr. Carlson yelled.
"Fine." Liam muttered picking up his empty bag.
"Sir, I'm sorry." I begged.
"A lesson needs to be learnt Ms. Laurence." I sighed and picked up my bag. I heard whistles as I went. I grit my teeth in frustration. My first day of school I had detention!
"Sir, do I detention after school?" I asked no longer denying my fate.
"No, but both of you will be serving detention in this period." Mr. Carlson said. I sighed. Awesome first impression.
I saw Liam walking coolly as if he didn't care being throw out of the class I ran up to him.
"Because of you I got detention! On my first day here!" I said.
"You're the one who asked me to prove it." He said shrugging. How dare he blame me! The moron!
"How dare you blame this on me?" I yelled.
"Chill, shorty." Liam said. He looked at me up and down and smirked.
"I can kick your butt without any problem." I challenged. Liam turned to look at me. He ran his hand through his hair and smirked at me, amusement glinting in his deep blue eyes.
"Really?" He asked edging close towards me I took a step back for some reason. What? He had his stupid giant genes to intimidate me.
"Yeah, I was known at my school for having a bad temper and mean kicks." I said holding my head high. Liam was in front of me and I felt my back pressing against the wall.
"You shouldn't mess with the bully, shorty." He whispered amusement thick in his voice. I could feel his breath on my face. He flexed his muscles showing me the veins straining on his tanned arm
"Same goes for you, giant." I said looking him in the eye though I was a little worried how close we were.
"We'll see." Liam said smirking and turned and walked away.
I gazed at his back.
Lesson Two: Never ask a proud, self-absorbed hot guy to prove anything specially when he is extremely muscular and cute dimples can be seen when he smirks.
In detention, I didn't look or talk to Liam but I could feel his eyes and stupid smirk boring into my back.
I also found out in all my AP classes I found Liam in it, smirking. Nick drove us back to the house. I had some great friends and the school was okay. I plopped on to the couch and I jumped when I saw Aunt May coming out from the kitchen.
"What are you doing here?" I asked.
"Beatrice, I need to ask you a favor?" she asked biting her lip, nervously. A habit which I got from her.
"What is it?" I asked, curious.
"You use to babysit back at home right?" she asked and I nodded.
"Could you babysit Steve's nephew?" she asked unsurely and I burst into laughter. She was worried about that? Gosh, I love kids!
"Of course, Why'd you think I'd say no?" I asked.
"Because you have a lot of work due?" she asked.
"It's alright! Gosh! I can manage. Should I get ready?" I asked.
"Yeah, please! You'll love Steve's apartment." She gushed.
I rolled my eyes and went upstairs. I changed into a dark green top and blue denim shorts. I tied up my hair and grabbed my homework in case I could do it there.
"Let's go." I said and Aunt May drove and stopped a huge building. It had at least twenty floors and made of glass. Wow, impressive.
"Wait till you go up to his apartment! It's the best but you might like his older nephew. He's a year older to you and very cute." She gushed. Maybe a cute guy would be even better addition to the view here.
"Hmm." I said. Everyone greeted Aunt May. I was shocked but then I shrugged they obviously knew she was Steve's girlfriend. We went up to the twentieth floor and I walked into to a huge apartment. Half the apartment looked over to the water; I could see the statue of liberty.
"May, Beatrice! Welcome!" Steve said kissing Aunt May on the cheek before giving me a smile. So, that's the smile he made aunt May fall for. I smiled back.
"Thank you for baby-siting my nephew. This is Nathan." A boy with dark hair and grey eyes smiled shyly hid behind Steve's legs.
"Hey, there." I send bending down so I could on his level.
"Hi." He said softly.
"So you'll be fine?" Steve asked.
"What'd you say Nathan? Will be fine?" I asked, smiling at him.
"Yes." Nathan said shyly. Steve laughed and ruffled Nathans hair.
"Alright, we will be back soon. Any problem we are only a call." Steve said.
"Have fun." I said. Aunt May was grinning ear to ear as I closed the door behind them. Aunt May's in loooooove. I need to tell her that.
"So, Nathan what would you like to do?" I asked.
"I've got homework." He said wrinkling his nose. I hate homework too, bud.
"Okay, why don't we finish that and then watch some T.V and maybe even play a game?" I suggested.
"Game?' His eyes glinted with excitement. Nathan was smart; he knew all the answers of his first grade homework. I remember hating rhyming words.
The door opened up and I thought it would be Aunt May and Steve but it wasn't! Nathan ran and hugged the stranger. I stared my mouth open.
Oh, no!
The boy was handsome and tall, that perfect tan and deep blue eyes and lips folded in a smirk. His stupid blonde hair looking perfect! Ugh!
"What are you doing here?" I asked putting a hand on my hip.
"Why are you here?" Liam asked taking a step closer to me still carrying Nathan.
"Isn't she pretty?" Nathan shyly told Liam who looked at him grinning.
"Already started huh?" Liam asked and I couldn't but smile at Nathan.
"Please, please don't tell me your Steve's nephew" I begged.
"Sorry, but I am. Now go make a sandwich." He said sitting down on the couch. I just stared at him.
"Excuse me?" I asked, incredulously.
"Yeah, you're excused to go!" he said smirking at me. I narrowed my eyes at him.
"I'm here to baby sit Nathan that's it! I'm not babysitting you and I'm definitely not making you a sandwich." I said firmly. Take that you jerk!
Liam got up and stood very close to me, looking me in the eye. I didn't flinch back. Oh, yeah!
"Can I speak to you in the kitchen?" he asked, his breath blowing in my face. I followed him and before I knew what I was happening my back was touching the wall and Liam's face was dangerously closed to mine, so close just a little tilt and our lips could meet. Not that I wanted them to. I was dazed for a moment by the minty breath! Ugh, how can such a jerk have good breath? Wait, why am I even bothering with his breath!
"You know you shouldn't mess with someone who can squish but I've told you that before haven't I?' he said. I nodded not able to speak.
"You're not even in school to run to anyone and you're at my house all alone." He said smirking at me. I swallowed the sandpaper that covered my throat.
"Nathan is here." I weakly defended.
"He's a kid. He might think we're playing hopscotch." Liam chuckled, "So, if you don't listen to one of my needs I'll force you into satisfying the other hunger." He said. Wait, what? My heart started beating against my chest but I kept my face as calm and cool as I could.
"Get off you jerk." I said shoving my head against Liam's chest but he didn't go back just smirked.
"Let me tell you something." I whispered in his ear. "If you don't let me go I could nasty things like AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" I screamed in his ear and as soon as he cringed away, I ran to the living room and sat beside Nathan.
"You-" Liam didn't continue seeing his brother and I grinned.
"I'll get you for that." Liam growled.
"I want to see you try, big boy." I said sticking out my tongue. Score!
