Chapter Eight
We had so much fun staying together for more than two months, somehow it was like less than two days for me. No matter how selfish I wanted to keep Summer, I knew I had no other option for that.
Her father's business was having a downfall, he had to sell most of his properties to overcome his debts and only left a house for them to stay.
I was helpless for knowing everything about this, and I hate that I have no better words or advice for Summer. Usually, she could deal determinedly with any obstacle, but this time seems a huge impact on her. Also, she was clueless about any plan in next.
Summer was gloomy all the time since the phone called. She sighed as she zipped her luggage and stared at me, "Look, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to leave you like that."
I try to put myself together to brush off my stupid thoughts. I gave her a small smile and reassure her, "I'm fine, I'll take care of myself and don't worry about me, alright."
She stepped closer to me and rested both of her hands on my shoulder, her green eyes reached mine with the hint of worries and said, "How could I not worry about you? You're too innocent and easily trust anyone. What if you meet any bad friends? What if I found you taking drugs at the stranded street?"
"Summer, I'm not stupid!" I exclaimed at her.
Summer finally chuckled after long hours of her moody and she pulled me into a hug, "Fine. Besides me, just don't trust anyone easily okay?" I nodded my head and gently patted her back.

"Our last Big Mac," Summer chuckled but I could hear the voice wasn't lively as usual.
"Hey, we still meet each other, alright," I shushed her.
"We can't spend time together that often anymore," Summer sighed sadly as she continues to bite her big mac seem like it was tasteless for her.
"I promise I'll get Big Mac and eat together with you whenever you want, alright?" I assured as I turned to face her and smiled at her before backing to the windshield.
She laughed and I could sense the voice was slightly lit up, "So, you will drive all the way to get big mac and go to my place to eat with me, huh?"
I nodded my head and said truly, "Of course."
I felt she slapped my upper arm and said with a smiley tone, "You're such a dork."
I smiled as I glance at her, "Just for you, sis." And I scrunched my face and back to the windshield when I saw her dipped the French fries to the sundae and I warned, "But, no for disgusting fries."
We eventually reached Summer's home after our precious journey from the studio back to her place. Our parents were talking in the living as we joined them for about an hour, and we decided back to Summer's room knowing they might continue their adult talks.
Summer lazily pushed the door open as she simply put her luggage aside and dropped herself on her queen size bed. I gently shut the door as I took a seat on her love seat instead joined her because I remembered the rules of her bed.
"Get your ass over here..." somehow this was not what I expected the words came out from her mouth.
"But, you hate people lay on your bed without a shower," I reminded.
"Fuck that! Get your ass over here, Charli. Don't make me repeat that again." She said in the hint of annoyance.
"Okay," I said as I walked toward her bed and laid next to her.
I furrowed my eyebrows when I heard the voice of sniffled. I pushed myself up as I turned her to face me. I was shocked to see her green eyes in bloodshot with the streak of tears covered her face.
She sobbed and said, "I hate that we're going to separate. We used to see each other every day, and I can't believe that we are going to live our own life."
At this moment, I was overwhelmed by Summer. My tears involuntary fell from my eyes as I laid back and pulled her closer to me in an embrace. She pressed her face on my neck to cry as I gently pressed the back of her head and said with my terrible crying voice, "We can face time whenever we're free, alright."
I was having an awful silent journey back to the studio all alone after spending time with Summer and my parents. Pathetically I couldn't spend a day with her because I had a class the next day.
I wiped my tears when I was listening to Summer's weird R&B song in my car without her. I laughed to myself complain about those songs to her again and again, but she always shot me her smug grin or stuck her tongue at me. I wished to see her again so badly.
After a painful hour journey to the studio, I cried again when I stepped into the studio. The moment of Summer occupied any corner of the place, nagging, laughing, rambling, and messing with me were still vivid.
I scoffed when I saw the fresh bedsheet on the bed because I already washed the bedsheet with Summer's scent.
Very well. Yea, you can call me a creep.
I laid on an oversize bed tiredly after I had a shower and did everything before my bedtime. I sighed as I stretched my hand to grab my phone from the bedside table and checked my phone. I eventually smiled after I read a message.
"Are you home?"
"Yes, I'm. Safe and sound."
"Start missing you this idiot."
"I miss you too, sis."
I chuckled at the message she had sent and soon I saw she was video calling me as I swiftly pressed the answer.
"Idiot!" that was the first word she greeted me.
"Hey sis," I chuckled at her as I saw she was cute in wrapping herself around with a blanket like a burrito. My face fell when I saw her puffy eyes as I sighed.
"What?" she asked and glared at me and I shook my head she continued, "So, you're getting bored of entertaining your best friend, huh?"
I chuckled and said, "No, it was not what you think like that, Summer." I smiled sadly at her, "I'm just sad to see you cry."
"I'll feel better after I cried, don't worry." Summer reassured as she used her forefinger to wipe away the tears from the corner of her eyes and she added, "You should know how much I love you, idiot."
"I know," I said softly by knowing her love was not romantic, it was sisterly love. "So, what's your plan?" I asked
She sighed and look clueless and said, "I don't know. I'll just follow whatever my parents have planned at the moment. We already briefly discussed something and I'll work at my aunt's coffee shop to get some paid for helping my parents."
"Did you think about continuing your study?" I asked
She sighed again as she rested her chin on her knees and said, "Not at the moment in our condition. I probably will take a part-time course when I'm settled down."
We continued to talk and making fun with each other, also we were overwhelmed our sudden apart and cried together again. I was half relieved after we had two hours video call, I at least feel better after we had a chat.
************
After half year
I was ready to meet Summer and I was curious about the boy she was dating. She never shows any picture of him to me either because she told me she prefers to let me meet him instead.
She seems head over heel to this boy because she dated him for more than three months. For me, this relationship was last longer compared to her previous dates.
From Summer's perspective of sharing, I could tell she was taking this relationship seriously too. She told me that she let me meet him because she thinks that their relationship was in a stable stage.
I parked my car at the parking lot and readily walked to the TGIF restaurant she had planned. I very soon spotted Summer in the corner of the booth with her boyfriend when I entered the restaurant.
Her taste of man was not what I expected, he looks a little older than us close to 7 or 8 years gap. His hair was dark brown curly shoulder length hair, trimmed facial hair, and caramel skin. He was wearing a dark blue button-up shirt and undone the button until his chest. That's all I could see the appearance of this man because he was sitting.
About Summer, she was still hot as fuck. She was wearing a denim jacket with a red tank top underneath and tightened her hair in a high bun. She looks so lovely with her giggling face and she has fully engaged in her conversation with that man.
They still didn't notice my presence as Summer was feeding her man a snack. I was lying if I said I was not jealous at all.
"Miss, did you make any reservation?" The waitress asked as I indicated Summer's seat to her as she ushered me to her table.
The moment when Summer's green eyes reached mine, every movement of hers in my sight was slowing down. She ran toward me with an enthusiastic smile and pulled me into a tight hug. "There you are!"
This embrace seems like ages for us, we lingered a while before pulled away as she linked my hand and lead me to their seats.
"Charli meets Miguel, and Miguel meets Charli," Summer said with a wide grin as I handshake with that man. Somehow his gesture caught me off guard, he took my hand to peck on it before I free my hand from him. "It's nice to meet you, Charli."
"Are you Spanish?" I blurted because of his accent.
"Yes, I am, beautiful." He said with a smile that was kind of flirty.
I thought he was a player kind of man, he was too comfortable to give sweet words to any girl in front of Summer for god's sake. I was surprised Summer didn't bother about it, she was smiling happily at me and asked, "So, how's your study? I'm sorry I've been busy lately."
I shook my head and reassured her, "Hey, it's okay and I understand about it." With that, I made my order and chatted with the love birds.
I had plenty of questions wanted to ask Summer personally since she dated this man. She was getting busy after she started dating. I sometimes wanted to roll my eyes when I saw him was checking out the waitress.
This man leaned in closer to Summer and whispered something as she giggled and slapped his upper arm and let him walked to the bathroom. Summer said with laughter after he left, "Miguel can be a comedian."
"Summer can we talk privately?" I asked.
"Yea sure, anytime. Because Miguel has to work after this." Summer beamed.
"Good. We have so much need to catch up." I smiled.
"Sure, this might be the long hours for us because we didn't see each other for months." Summer chuckled
**********
"Are you fucking kidding me?!" I asked in disbelief.
Summer waved to me and shushed, "Dammit Charli! Can you low down your voice?"
I still couldn't believe what she had told me. I tapped my face and said as quietly as possible, "He is a drug dealer, Summer." I added, "Do you remember you told me if you found me was taking the drug at the stranded street?"
Summer seems to be having difficulty sharing everything that had happened to her with me in one shot. She stared at me and sighed, "Miguel helps me during my hard time, he takes good care of me. Besides, he is a romantic man."
No, he is a fuckboy.
I nodded my head, "I see. Mind if I asked how old is he?"
She smiled at me with her gleaming green eyes as I could see she was deeply into this fuckboy, "He is 25 years old now."
I was right, that's why he looks older. I hummed, "Well, older man is more mature."
Summer grinned from ear to ear and she said, "I agree with you." She folded her forearms resting on the table and her face lit up and said, "He is so much mature than the boys I had dated. Also, he already planned to marry me when I turn 21."
I was getting worried about Summer with this fuckboy. He was not only flirty, but he was also a cheater. Besides, he was working illegal jobs. I couldn't say anything bad about this man at the moment by knowing Summer was stubborn as well.
As a best friend of hers, I had prepared to be ready for her anytime whenever she gets hurt by this fuckboy.
I forced a smile and said, "That's good if he's caring and loving to you. But, if someday he becomes an asshole just leave him. You still got me, Summer."
Summer nodded her head at me as she entwined her hands for her chin rested on it and said, "It will never happen. Migues loves me and I won't get bullied by him."
"That's good." I said and I joked, "No one could mess with Summer Brightly."
She rolled her eyes at me and asked, "Let's put the spotlight on you after my long storytelling." She smirked, "Any new from you?"
"Nothing much happened besides assignments." I chuckled.
Summer hummed and narrowed her eyes and asked, "You still didn't meet someone catches your eyes?"
You're the only person who caught my eyes.
I shook my head at her as she asked, "Won't you feel lonely?"
"I will patiently wait for the right one. It's worth it." I said truly.
Summer nodded her head, "You're right." She grinned and said, "Well, I'm wishing that you'll meet a hot and loving guy, get married, and have a baby. Then our babies become best friends like us."
She was right, but I never wish for it.
"That would be cool," I said softly.
She leaned back in her seat with crossed her arms as she took a quick scan of my outlook and asked, "Since when you have changed the taste of clothes?" She wiggled her eyebrows at me.
I was only with my white sleeveless mock neck blouse, skinny jeans, and matching heels. I shrugged and jested, "Mood swing I guess."
She laughed, "Keep this look and you look great."
"Thanks," I grinned.
