Chapter 4:Graduation
We climbed in my Matte Black BMW X6 M that I bought myself this year for my 18 birthday.
My parents sent me a check and some chocolate snacks and a letter where they wrote that even though they weren't here with me on my 18 birthday that they love me very, very much and that I was doing really great on my own.
So they decided that I should get myself a car and that I get to chose which one I want, since I've had my driving license for more than a year now.
I was really excited that day, I practically dragged Drew along with me while she was complaining why we didn't wait for the afternoon(since I got the package in 8 a.m. ).Drew wasn't really a morning person and neither was I, but when you get a package at 8 a.m. from your parents in which they are giving you money to buy yourself a car, you can hardly go to sleep afterwards.
She wasn't giving up though, she said "Don't underestimate the power of sleep Lexia."
It took me an hour of shaking her shoulders and pleading her to wake up.
Eventually, she gave up on sleeping knowing she can't peacefully sleep while I was there, which got me one of her murderous glares.
I just smiled innocently while she groaned and went to dress herself.
We went to the car store and I immediately knew which car I wanted.
It was a Matte Black BMW X6 M.
I still remember my first drive, Drew was at her karate class, which she hated with a passion, and I told her that I would pick her up and then we would go to the market to buy some food because that night was our famous "Shake and Bake Night."
We would have it once in a while, mostly because I wanted to try to cook on my own, which scared the shit out of Drew; while she wanted to dance, so we combined the two.
She was sure that I would burn the house down and bought some fire extinguisher just in case I did that, which I didn't.
We would make everything, from sweets to paistries and many other different meals, we would sometimes even try to make dishes of a different cuisine such as Italian or Serbian. So far we made croissants, pancakes, waffles, cinnamon rolls, apple pie, chocolate brownies, cupcakes, chocolate chip cookies and meals like fried chicken, fried fish, mozzarella sticks, Bolognese Pasta, stuffed ham, buffalo wings, cheese fries and French fries.
Tonight we would make pizzas and an Oreo Nutella Cheesecake.
When she came out of the building I swear her face got ten thousand times paler.
She took slow steps towards me then said "Well, If you're here that probably means that I'm about to die in a car accident. At least I had a good life. We may leave now Angel of Death."
"Don't be so dramatic, I'm not gonna kill us. I have a license for God's sake!"
"I'm just wondering how many people had to die for you to pass that test." She said.
I laughed at the memory.
"What are you laughing at?" Drew asked me.
"I was remembering our first drive, you know, when you thought I was going to kill us."
"Ah yeah, joyful times." Drew grimaced.
"Do you want me to turn the radio on?" I asked her.
"Sure. Just please not country." She groaned while I bit back a laugh.
"Like you don't know me at all." I said as I turn the radio on just as Imagine Dragons song Radioactive started to play.
"Hey, remember two days ago when I get my mail. I also found an invitation for my aunt Liz's wedding. I called her after that and she said that she already talked to my parents and that they are still busy with whatever is that they are doing and that they won't be able to make it."
I said as Drew nodded to me to continue.
"Well, I told her that I'm two days away from graduation so after that I would love to come. She remembers you from the time when we were little and when she was visiting. She said that she would be honored If the two of us would accept to be her bridesmaids. So, what do you say?" I asked Drew with a glint of hope in my eyes.
She looked at me with excitement in her eyes and, may I say, a little devious spark too.
"Count me in. Besides, If I don't go with you who's gonna make sure you don't screw up the wedding?" She asked me as she smirked.
"I'm not going to screw up the wedding!" I yelled.
"Because I am going to be there to make sure you don't." She pointed out while she smirked at me.
"Eyes on the road please, I would like to get there in one piece Little Red." I said to her with a slight grin.
"I'm so getting revenge on this, mark my words Clumsy," she replied back with smirk.
In a couple of seconds we were at the school's parking lot.
Drew locked the car and we headed to the school's back yard where the ceremony would be held.
In the middle of the school yard was a big stage and rows of chairs were facing it.
We saw a couple of our friends who were already at the bottom of the stage in a line and waiting for the Principal to call their name and hand them their diploma.
Drew and I were asked by Principal John to do the speech but we declined since we didn't really enjoy speaking in front of that large group of people and all their stares pointed at us.
He said he understands and that he won't push us, which we were both very grateful.
Some others student ended up doing the speech, we were both lucky that it wasn't one of the "Mean Girls."
When Principal called for Heather she walked up to the stage to acept the diploma. She cut short her too long blonde hair and her makeup made her hazel eyes look like they were shining.
She was a short girl compared to Drew or me. I was tall about 170 cm and Drew was 166 cm, while Heather and Megan were 160cm, and Rebecca was 162 cm.
All three of them were cheerleaders while Heather was the lead cheerleader.
Megan had long blond hair and blue eyes while Rebecca had short blond hair and black eyes.
When it was my turn I wished that my parents were here to see me. I also wished not to trip and fall down.
I shook my head, now was not the time for that kind of thoughts.
I walked to the Principal and accepted my diploma.
Next one was Drew. While she was walking I gave her a light squeeze on the shoulder and she gave me a nervous smile.
She accepted her diploma and turned around to the seats which were now full with parents and siblings.
Her parents, Hazel and Malakai (who preferred to be called Kai), were watching her proudly and her mother was wiping her tears. Her mother was a short woman with dirty green eyes and short blond hair. She was always wearing uniforms because she worked in the bank, but now she was wearing a dark blue dress with black high heels. Her father was a taller than Drew and me and had black hair and dirty green eyes. He was wearing a black suit because that's basically what his wardrobe was due to his job as manager.
I felt a pang in my chest, I missed my parents so much at this moment.
I pushed my feelings aside as I clapped my hands for my sister.
She came to me with a biggest smile on her face and in that moment we all tossed our hats in the air.
We finally graduated.
