3. Veil
Omg, I haven't been working on this story for such a long time! Will you forgive me?! I've been such a bitch about updating my stories and obsessed with Owari no Seraph and Noragami!
Anywho, I was thinking about this story and had a sudden flash of inspiration for this chapter.
So, here you are, at long last.
???'s POV
I stood on the ledge of the building that overlooked the vast white abyss of snow that cloaked the normally green grass. The sidewalks had been hastily cleared for passerby to go to a desired destination.
I've been missing for far too long. I should've never left True Cross Academy, especially with (y/n) still here. I don't know what I was thinking when I decided to ditch her, but I did, and something like that can be hard to forgive.
My right hand rose to the azure sky, extending my fingers whilst trying to escape from this nightmare known as life itself. If I'm being completely honest with myself, I'd rather die than live the life I am. Golden sparks cackled from my fingertips as I imagined a huge, deadly storm that threatened to kill anyone, myself included.
I heard shallow footsteps behind me, coming to an abrupt stop. I had no need to turn around; I recognized the presense that lingered there, waiting for me to speak.
"Have you completed your task, Adriel?" The words sounded a lot more mature than my true age. It figures, I've been searching for a certain person for what seems like an eternity.
"Of course, Milord. He recieved the message clearly." Her tone was silky and sweet. However, I won't stop searching for her. I can't let Adriel get to me once again. She knows that whenever the subject comes up, there's a chance if manipulating me to her own ways. "But, with all due respect, why did you ask to deliver that specific message? You announced to a select few that you'd keep that private."
Flooded with a sudden rage, I whirled around with an icy glare upon my face, seeing the mass of black hair that was tied into twin ponytails that rest over either shoulder whilst covering the left of her venomous blood red irises. A smirk was painted upon her glossy, crimson lips as she awaited my wrath. She was clothed in a darker version of an average school uniform. I bottled up my inner emotions, acknowledging that if I slipped my darkest secret, Adriel would most certainly use it to her advantage. Working your way to the top of a dangerous group in a matter of a few years isn't exactly a walk in the park. Everyone wants to lead Anonymous. That's the name of the divison I'm a part of. No one knows the true name of our organization, anyone who does is considered an elite. And there's no way in hell I'll ever be one of those.
"I know I was going to keep it a secret, but there's someone who absolutely needs to understand this. The man you delivered it to is closely related to this person." Adriel's devious smile remained plastered on her face, but her eyes immediately sparked with a mischievous curiosity. However, she remained silent, inclining her head to the sky. Her normally evil, grotesque arua swapped to a calm one as she took a whiff of the air surrounding us, watching the dark clouds as they gathered on the horizon line.
"Milord, there's a storm coming. I can smell it." She reconnected her vermilion gaze with my cerulean orbs, piecing together what I had done, "You've created it, haven't you? With that curse that resides in your soul." Adriel, despite the fact that she is indeed trying to take my position, is my most trustworthy underling. She, unlike the rest, had escalated to second in command in a matter of months, a feat even I was never able to accomplish. It'll only be a matter of time before she manages to overtake me and send me back to the bottom of the ranks. "Not to be rude, but the name you go by, Equinox," I raised an eyebrow, beckoning for her to continue, "That's not your real name, is it?"
After a moment to silence, I opened my mouth to speak, but she had already turned away, her long, wavy ebony hair swaying as her heels clacked on the ground, eventually fading into nothing but a deafening silence. I looked over my shoulder at the blinding whiteness of the snow.
(Y/n) would be around 20 years of age now. That makes me 13. Let me guess, you were probably thinking I was an adult. I did mention that I sounded a lot more mature than I actually am, did I not? Hell, I even look older than I actually am!
I stared down at my hands, gently allowing more electricity to be freed. I hate that one man. That... child who believes that (y/n) is his, and only his. I had her first, long before he did. Chuckling while rubbing the nape of my neck, I imagined him hacking away at me with that blasted blade, insisting that she was his.
Out of anger, I shot several bolts of my golden electricity into the glistening snow beneath me, malice entwined in every shot.
I know his name, and I won't ever forget it until I get (y/n) back.
Rin Okumura.
