Chapter One: Mornings

Raven started every morning out the same. She'd wake up at 6, take a shower, get dressed, and get coffee. She'd brush her teeth and hair, get her stuff together and leave to the same boring office job, using the same path everyday.                                                                                                                                              Raven resided about two blocks away from the office, and every day, she'd walk in those stupid heels, which always got stuck in the sidewalk cracks.

A disgruntled sigh was let out as she pulled herself out of bed. Her long black hair, lay matted in tangled curls, and her pajamas wore a dark stain made by the chocolate ice cream she ate last night.

She pulled herself up and out of the tangled heap of sheets and blankets and stumbled into the bathroom to take a shower.

Her eyes stung from the sudden change of light, and a loud clanging sound was heard as she knocked over an empty can of beer.

Raven rubbed her eyes, and stripped off her clothes as she stepped into the warmth of the water, which was a pleasant change from the cold winter air of her apartment.

After about 15 minutes, she walked out, dried off, and put on the typical business attire she always wore. She slipped on her dress pants, undershirt, and finished it off with her blazer. Her sports bra strap peeked out underneath.

She stumbled into the kitchen, still groggy, and poured herself a steaming cup of black coffee, and quickly downed it. She brushed her teeth, and battled the tangled tendrils of her hair.

Finally, she grabbed her keys and her bag, and left. Her phone buzzed as she received a message from her friend, asking if she was bringing the presentation. Raven's green eyes widened and she turned around and dashed back to her apartment building as quickly as her heels would carry her.

"Shit" she mumbled.

She grabbed it off of her kitchen table, locked the door, and left. Raven removed the black heels, started sprinting. She practically flew down the streets, her hair flying behind her.

She bust in the door, breathing heavily, and stepping into the elevator. A man was in there. She recognized him, though she didn't quite remember how.

"What floor?" He asked.

"Oh, uh, 4 please." She muttered, still breathing heavily.

He chuckled and pressed the button. They stood in silence. Raven looked over and noticed they were heading to the same floor.

Strange, she thought. Especially considering she knew everyone on the floor pretty well, and didn't recognize him.

"I'm Luca" he said with a soft smile.

"Raven" she replied.

The elevator let off a ding, and shook slightly as they made the proper landing. They both stepped off, and parted ways with an awkward wave.
