As Zira led the lion cub to the gorge she couldn't help but smile to herself at the naivety of her nephew. She would finally be able to avenge Scar and strike Simba where it hurts.

She looked over at her nephew who was bounding along beside her and called to him: "Not long to go now, we're nearly there." Kopa smiled up to his aunt and replied: "I can't wait to see what you have to show me!"

Once they arrived at the gorge Kopa began to feel uneasy and asked if they could go back. So Zira teasingly said to him: "Why? Are you afraid of the gorge then?" in the hopes she would get a reaction out of him.

"No I'm not scared. It's just that Dad doesn't let me play here. It's something to do with Grandad Mufasa I think, but he won't tell me what exactly." replied Kopa. With that he turned around in an effort to go back.

"I can tell you what happened, Kopa" Zira stated casually, her plan in motion.

"You can, Auntie Zira?" Kopa asked his aunt, as he turned around again to face her.

"Of course I can. Your Auntie Zira can tell you all about how Simba murdered his father Mufasa." She said to the cub, watching his jaw drop in shock.

"He did what?" the cub whispered, not wanting it to be real.

"He killed his father, Kopa. I'll bet he didn't tell you that he killed King Scar either!" she answered him, while making no effort to comfort the distressed lion cub.

"No! Mum, Dad and Grandma Sarabi told me he was an evil and unjust king. He was the one who killed Mufasa not Dad!" replied Kopa.

"Scar was the most honourable king to ever rule the Pridelands!" exclaimed Zira beginning to get irate with the cub.

"But Dad said..." began Kopa, before his aunt cut him off.

"I don't care what your dad said. You don't believe a murderer!" she practically screamed at her poor nephew.

"But daddy isn't a murderer, Auntie Zira."

Zira turned to face the cub and questioned him. "If Simba isn't a murderer then who is to blame for Scar's death?" The unsuspecting cub answered his aunt, even though that probably wasn't the best thing to do. "The... hyenas" he said. This response angered Zira. In a fit of rage, she smacked Kopa square in his face causing him to fall onto the ground. As she did this she shouted:" Shut up!" at him.

As the lion cub laid on the ground, injured and afraid, he asked aloud why she was doing this. Zira told the child that she was doing this to avenge Scar by hitting Simba in his weakest spot which was Kopa. At this point Kopa knew that he wasn't safe being with his aunt. He picked himself up and began to run to get his parents. As he ran shouting their names, Zira followed after him, taunting the little lion by saying that he cannot escape and that she would get him. The cub was starting to panic now and hid under the tall grass to escape her.

Meanwhile, back at the Pridelands, Nala had woken up and noticed that Kopa wasn't there. She shouted his name but heard no response. Her shouting awoke Simba and he asked what was wrong. She told him that she could not find their cub. Both parents exchanged worried glances before running out of their cave to find him. As they ran, other Pridelanders joined them to aid their search. The search party headed towards the Outlands where they feared he would be.

Zira's children; Nuka, Vitani and Kovu, were alerted by the Pridelanders running. The three snuck out of their cave and followed them closely behind.

As the Pridelanders, plus the three Outsiders, sprinted to find Kopa, Zira had cornered the poor cub. Kopa was trembling in the grass. He had nowhere to go and his aunt was inching herself closer and closer towards him. It would only be a matter of seconds before she would be upon him and who knows what she was going to do when she reached him. Before the cub could say or do anything, Zira lunged at him, throwing Kopa's small frame to the floor. She then jumped on top of him and began to slash at his face and body with her sharp claws. The slashes weren't extremely deep but they hurt the cub a lot and would definitely leave marks. Kopa didn't know what to do. He kept taking blow by blow; getting weaker and weaker. The lion knew that he wouldn't be able to take all these attacks. Fairly soon he would be dead.

Zira was getting tired of torturing the cub. She took pity on Kopa, seeing as he was near the end and raised her paw for the final blow. She would kill him quickly and finally avenge Scar. So she raised her paw but before she could strike she was swiftly knocked off of her feet.

The Pridelanders had arrived just in time. Simba lunged himself at Zira, knocking her away from Kopa before she could do anymore damage. Nala, Uzuri and the other lionesses ran to the cub to shield him from his aunt so that she couldn't do any more harm.

While they attended to him, Simba fought off Zira. He was so mad that he flung her to the floor within seconds. He held Zira down so she couldn't move and began to yell at her: "What on Earth do you think you're doing touching my son?"

" Why do you think? I wanted to kill that little brat and avenge Scar. It was all part of my plan..." This enraged Simba so before she could finish he interrupted her: "Enough Zira. Your actions are despicable. I have no choice but to banish you to deep inside the Outlands. Am I clear, Zira?"

"Crystal" Zira snidely remarked.

Zira's children had been observing from the side-lines so far but Nuka couldn't contain himself and ran to his mother's aid. Simba got off of Zira allowing Nuka to help her up.

Vitani and Kovu walked over to Kopa. The cub was lying unconscious in his mother's arms. At this sight Vitani began to feel sick. She turned away and Kovu went to comfort her. He knew she had a soft spot for the cub.

Once Nuka had helped his mum up he turned to face Simba and asked: "What will happen to us?" Simba thought for a minute and then he spoke: "Nuka you will accompany your mother. However, Vitani and Kovu, seeing as Zira is not your biological mother you two can stay with us at the Pridelands"
