I woke up the next morning to Lilith shaking me aggressively.
"Luciferrrrrr! Wake uuuuuuppppp!" My roommate whined.
"Ugh, do I have to? It's Saturday." I mumbled, turning over and hugging the duck plushie I had.
"Exactly!" Lilith says. "We have to meet the others at the coffee shop for our usual study session! Now get. Up!"
"Urgh, fine." I hissed, sitting up straight. "I'll get dressed."
"Okie! See you in a minute!" Lilith skipped away gleefully as I got up.
After getting my clothes, I headed into the bathroom and got dressed.
I'd chosen a simple white polo shirt and jeans, plus a simple black belt.
When I stepped out I slipped into my sneakers and me and Lilith headed out to meet the others.
When we got there, Husker and Angel were already waiting for us.
We were there for about an hour before I got a call from Bee. It could've also been Charlie and Emily calling me with her phone. I answered and held the phone to my ear.
"Hey Luc!" Bee says. "Where are you, Emily and Charlie wanna come down and see you."
A smile spread across my face at that, Bee had been watching my girls while I was here, I was trying to get through it so that I could graduate and really provide for them, after their mother signed away her rights to them when we were fifteen, which yeah, I know, that's crazy young to have kids, but I was a stupid teenager at the time. I don't think I'd change it though, even if I could go back in time and prevent it. I had taken up the responsibility of taking care of them, although it was quite hard at times.
"I'm down at a coffee shop studying with some of the others, I'll send you the location." I said.
"Okie dokie! Girls say goodbye to your dad!" Bee says.
"Bye Daddy!" I heard my girls say into the phone.
"Bye, I can't wait to see you two!" I said as my grin only widens.
I hung up, sent Bee my location, and turned to the others, who were all looking at me expectantly.
"Oh, that was Bee." I explained. "She's gonna bring the girls down for a visit."
"Awe! I can't wait to see them!" Lilith squeals.
"Yeah, me too." I said, then heard a bell ringing, which signalled that somebody was walking in. Everyone froze, staring behind me. "What?" I asked and peered over my shoulder.
I was shocked to see Mr. Hartfelt walk in, a shorter, older woman behind him, and another guy.
They sat down at a nearby table and started talking in a language I didn't understand.
It wasn't until the other guy stood up, pecked a kiss onto my teacher's lips that I realized they were a couple.
Oh shit-
He was taken.
Now somebody tell me why I actually care-
"Ohoho shiiiiiiiiiiiiiit-" Angel says. "You jealous Luc?"
"No!" I said, feeling my face get warm. "Who gives a fuck that our stupid sexy teacher has a boyfriend? Not me! Nope!" I glared off to the side, noticing that the other guy was heading to the bathroom.
Angel raised an eyebrow. "I'm unconvinced."
I narrowed my eyes at him, my face felt like it was on fire as it twisted into a scowl.
"Denial is a river in Egypt. I don't think you should go down it." Lilith says, and Husk just laughs.
"I'm not going down any stupid rivers!" I snapped. "And it's not funny Husk!"
"Your opinion, not mine." He responds, holding his hands up innocently.
"What's not funny?" Another voice joins the conversation from behind me.
I practically jumped out of my seat, which earned an abundance of laughter from everyone at the table, and also Mr. Hartfelt.
"You good?" Lilith asks through her giggles. "You look like you just had a damn heart attack."
"I'm fine!" I said, catching my breath.
"So what are you doing, studying I see." Our teacher looks over what we were working on. I, coincidentally, was doing my history homework.
"Oh, yeah. My number one enemy algebra is really kicking my ass right now." Lilith says, looking down at her paper with a frown.
"Hah, relatable." Mr. Hartfelt says.
"Hey Al who are these guys?" The other guy from earlier walked up to us, wrapping his arms around my teacher's waist with his head on his shoulder.
My stomach did a weird flip flop and I found myself frowning at the guy.
"These are a few of my students." He replies. "Everyone, this is my fiancé Nick."
My heart stopped. Fiancé?
Why do I care so fucking much?
Ugh.
My eyes locked on the ring on my teacher's finger, finally noticing it.
Well, I dunno WHY I should care.
Who gives a fuck? Not me! Most definitely not me!
"Daddy!" My head snapped up at my daughters' calls, I grinned and stood up bending down as they both tackled me with hugs.
"Oh my girls!" I said gleefully, peppering both their faces with kisses. "It's so good to see you!"
"I'm confused . . . how old are you?" The other guy, Nick or whatever asks.
"I'm twenty. They're five. You got a problem?" I tilted my head, daring him to challenge me.
The dude chuckles. "Look man, I'm just gonna say it, you're too young."
"So you're judging me based off of a decision I made five years ago. Okay, you're one of those. Got it." I said, turning away. I didn't need this.
"Excuse me?" Nick chuckles. "What's that supposed to mean?"
"You're one of them." I said simply. "You judge people for doing it as a teen yet you probably did it at that age too. I wouldn't be surprised."
"You barely know me!" The other guy says. "I just met you five fucking seconds ago."
"Exactly. Why are you allowed to judge me even though you don't even know my name." I shot back, my temper rising.
"Lucifer-" Lilith starts.
I held up a finger. "No. I got it."
"At least I was responsible!" He says, leaning down in my face. "Although I'm beginning to wonder what girl would fuck you, ugly prick."
"Nick!" My teacher suddenly cuts in, pulling the guy back. "What the actual fuck? There are two five year olds right there!"
"Whatever." Nick grumbles. "I'm leaving."
He walks away, my glare following him every step, Charlie tugs at my jeans. "Daddy I'm hungry."
"Hey, where's Bee?" I asked, and at comedic timing my cousin rushes in.
"Hey Luc! Sorry I'm late-who's this?" She asks, her eyes landing on my history professor.
"Oh, I teach history, Lucifer is one of my students." He says.
"Oh~ I'm jealous~" Bee says. "Luc how'd you get so lucky?"
"Okay shut up he has a fiancé." I said. Who's a motherfucking asshole.
"Ah damn." Bee says, sounding genuinely disappointed. "She's lucky."
"It's a he actually. And he just left, so I should be going. Mama, je viens." He turns to the woman who'd been observing the situation.
"Très bien." She replies, standing up.
"French." He says when we all just stared at him in confusion. "She doesn't speak English." He motioned to his mother and we all nodded.
Fuck. Can he get any hotter?-OKAY WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK IS WRONG WITH ME?
"Damn~" Bee says, then whispers in my ear, "you really DID get lucky!"
"Whatever." I muttered. "He isn't that good-looking."
"Denial is a river in Egypt!" Lilith says rather loudly.
"I told you, I'm not going down any rivers!" I protested. I turned back to Charlie. "What do you want to eat sweetheart?"
"Ice cream!" She squeals.
"Ooh! Me too!" Emily chimes in.
"They don't have that here, sorry. They have donuts though." I offered.
"Ooh donuts!" Both of them grinned, hopping from foot to foot.
I got them a couple donuts (and one for myself), I'm pretty sure they had my sweet tooth, hah, and Charlie sat in my lap as we continued studying.
The rest of the day was pretty good.
