The Exams
Izuku's pov
After preparing for the exams, y/n and I walked together to U.A. I can't help but constantly steal glances from her.
'when will I be able to gather the courage to confess to her...'
I sighed deeply, causing y/n to look at me.
"Something wrong, Deku?"
"oh, uh, n-nothing really. Just... Nervous." I half lied
She smiled sweetly at me once more. Oh my lord, I don't think my heart can take it for much longer.
"it's okay! We all get nervous at some point! Even I'm nervous! But I try not to worry about it, especially since you're here with me! You're the one who inspires me to do my best"
My cheeks flushed a deep shade of red. I couldn't believe I was hearing this, and it was from HER too!
"y-you in-inspire me too, y/n-chan!"
She gave me a warm close eyed smile.
Damn... That beautiful smile is way too enticing... Too much for my own good... But I'm glad I'm the cause of it...
"c'mon! We don't wanna be late!" she exclaimed. She grabbed my hand and started running towards the gate.
"here we are!"
She let go of my hand and clasped her hands together.
Gah! The warmth of her hand! It's disappointing she let go...
We proceeded to walk towards the school itself. Feeling adrenaline run through my veins, I ran ahead of y/n-chan, but I so happened to trip.
Y/n's pov
I saw Deku run ahead of me, excited yet nervous about taking the test. I smiled at the enthusiasm he emitted, despite the nervous feelings he mentioned just a few minutes ago.
Before I could even realize, he was already falling face first. I was about to run to him and help, but a girl with short brown hair beat me to it. I smiled, glad that Deku was fine, so I decided to walk towards them.
As I got closer, I realized Deku looked very flustered, leading me to remember that I was the only girl he was able to talk to. I gave a small chuckle.
"are you okay?"
"Hello!" I exclaimed approaching them. I placed a hand on Deku's shoulder and smiled at the girl.
"don't worry, he's fine. He just isn't used to talking to other girls" I said while slightly chuckling.
"oh? Sorry if I made you uncomfortable!" she said, looking at Deku. She turned back to me.
"speaking of, you said 'other girls', so I suppose you two are good friends"
"yeah! We've been best friends since we were 4! And speaking of him not used to talking to girls. You're the first girl I had a decent conversation with"
I said, starting to walk. The two followed my movements as the brunette proceeded to reply.
"really? How come? You seem really nice! So I kinda don't understand the concept of others not talking to you"
"ah, well, you see. I was--"
"bullied by the popular girls"
I flinched, shocked that Deku got this sudden spike of confidence to join our conversation.
"those bastards bullied her, telling her that she couldn't be a hero. And I definitely regret not at all helping..."
"h-hey! Who said you didn't help? You just being with me is enough! You were the only one who was able to keep me sane..."
My cheeks flushed a light tint of pink. It was true, only my best friend, Izuku Midoriya, whom I affectionately call Deku, could keep me sane.
"w-wow... How sweet! B-but... Why would they tell you that you can't become a hero..?"
"Well, I have two quirks that split into so many more, but those two quirks are usually referred to as only one.
My Quirk is balance, yes, yin and yang. As most know, yin and yang are pro heroes who share one name. Even though people knew that yin had a destruction Quirk, they praised her for rising to the challenge, proving that even with a seemingly evil Quirk, she can become a hero"
The brunette listened closely, seemingly able to recognize who I am.
"but no, the so-called popular girls in our school, found out about my destruction Quirk, and started putting me down by telling me that I was villain material"
"o-oh... Don't listen to them! You already are a great hero! You help your parents with missions, right? So you're already experienced!"
"yeah, but they didn't know that"
I stated. I noticed that Deku had already gone ahead of us. I frowned, knowing that he didn't like it when I talked about my bullies.
"oh, I see. Ah! I almost forgot! I'm Uraraka! Uraraka Ochaco! Your hero name is balance... But, what should I be calling you as my fellow examinee?"
"well, I'm l/n. L/n y/n! I hope we can be friends!"
"of course we can!"
I chucked lightly
"well, that makes you the first. The first girl I've befriended!"
"I'm honored!"
~~~~~
Alright! I'm doing really good so far! I'm already at 77 battle/villain points. I started looking around for more, then saw a 3 pointer. I activated my nature Quirk and used some roots to crush the 3 pointer.
"that makes 80..."
I continued my attempt to look for more, and that's when I reached a very crowded area. I wanted to leave, but the ground started to shake, distracting me from my goal.
The 0 pointer...
I began running away just like the others, but I stopped, seeing my best friend on the ground, with quite a frightened look.
"Deku! C'mon! We need to--"
I hushed myself once I heard a voice. I turned to look behind me and saw Uraraka trapped under some debris.
My legs reacted quickly as a ran towards the robot, just recently noticing Deku beside me.
We both jumped in sync. I used my ice Quirk to freeze the 0 pointer, while Deku used his smash to fully break it.
2 minutes left
I used my wind Quirk to shoot myself downwards, and of course, ensure my safe landing.
I ran towards Uraraka and helped her out. I used my wind Quirk to blow off the debris that fell on her. Before helping her up, I checked for any injuries. Seeing none, I helped her up.
She gave me a warm smile.
"thank you so much! But wait! Where's your friend?!"
I flinched. I looked behind me once more, to see Deku falling dangerously fast.
I ran as fast as I could, using my wind Quirk once more to boost my speed. I shot some wind towards the area where I estimated he would land.
I was right.
The wind caught him just on time, setting him on the ground gently.
I ran over to him and heard him mumble something about getting just one point.
'you mean... He has none?!'
Time's up!
Tears formed in my eyes. He didn't get any points...
He might not make it... No! Think positive! This is a hero course! They surely will grade how he saved Uraraka!
I kneeled beside him and placed his head on my lap. I placed my hand on his forehead and began to heal him.
I heard multiple voices around me, muttering on how he sacrificed time and points to save Uraraka. I also heard some muttering about me healing him.
"oh... Why hello there young l/n! I see you beat me to the healing!"
"well, I was worried, so yeah. I rushed over here."
"might I add, your healing has drastically improved ever since the last time I've seen you do it."
"thanks"
I said replying quite quickly. I finished up the healing spell and saw that Deku was slowly waking up.
