Sports Festival
Y/n's pov
Today, Aizawa-sensei introduced to us the sports festival. We were to participate in various tasks that can help us get sighted by the pros.
I leaned over my seat to call out to my best friend.
"psst. Deku! Wanna train together?"
"oh! Uh, sure! When?"
"starting tonight! Good luck to our class!"
"yeah!"
After our little conversation, we continued to listen to Aizawa-sensei.
~~~~~~
I was finally home and decided to get ready. I took a quick shower and prepped my clothes. I put on red shorts that reached slightly below my thighs. I put on a white shirt that had a matching collar.
I tied my long hair into a high ponytail and grabbed my bag. I put my water bottle, my phone, my wallet, my keys, and a towel.
I ran downstairs and passed my parents.
"honey? Where are you going?" asked my mom
"training! With Deku!"
"Izuku? Alright then! Have fun! But not too much fun!" said my dad
"dad!"
Both of them laughed as I ran out of the house. Then, I felt my phone buzz. It was a message from Deku.
Deku❤
Hey, you ready?
Y/n💟
Yeah, how 'bout you?
Deku❤
Yep. Meet you at dagobah municipal beach park?
Y/n💟
Yep. See you there! ♥
I put my phone back in my bag and ran towards the beach. When I arrived, I spotted a highly familiar mess of green. I smiled.
'Of course, he was already here'
I decided to surprise him. I quietly crept up behind him, making sure that he doesn't hear me.
"BOO!"
He made some sort of frightened sound and jumped in surprise.
"o-oh! Y/n! I didn't know you were here already!"
He said, turning to face me. He looked down and I was met with a beautiful pair of emerald green eyes. He gave me an innocent close eyed smile.
'so cute!'
Heat rose to my cheeks because of this. I turned away from him, not wanting him to get a glimpse of my red face.
"shall we get started?"
"oh! Uh, yeah!"
~~~~~
A full 2 weeks passed and the day of the sports festival has finally arrived.
As our class was introduced, we all walked in, the crowd cheered at our entry. I felt anxious. I knew my parents were watching, but I also knew that they wouldn't be doing internships this year, just to give me the full experience.
Now, it was time for midnight to call the class representatives.
"for class 1-A, we have Katsuki Bakugo; who was top 2 in the entrance exam, and Y/n L/n; who was top 1 in the entrance and recommendations exam!"
I heard multiple murmurs the moment my name was mentioned.
'right, people were talking about me back in the first day...'
Bakugo stepped up to the mic, then and there, I was ready to apologize for his actions.
"just so you know, I'll win"
'boo's were heard from the other classes. I sighed, ready to apologize. Bakugo stepped away from the mic, so I stepped up.
"Before I start,"
I bowed apologetically.
"I'd like to apologize on behalf of our class. Bakugo is always like this, so please, pay no mind to him"
I gave the rest of the classes a warm, close eyed smile.
Meanwhile...
Izuku's pov
My cheeks flushed red. It's that smile of hers. I tried to look away to regain my focus, but then, I noticed something.
A bunch of the boys from the other classes were also blushing.
'does that mean...'
Back to Y/n...
"Anyways, good luck to us all! I expect everyone to exceed the crowd's expectations, plus ultra style!"
The crowd cheered at my declaration. I looked back to my class and saw a few of my classmates giving me grateful stares, while the rest sighed in relief. When I went back to the class, I received multiple 'thank you's. I just smiled at them.
~~~~
First event: obstacle course
Midnight announced that the first event would be a race through an obstacle course.
I ran with the crowd, but that was a HUGE mistake. Being short is a nuisance when it comes to crowds, especially since you can get stuck in them.
I used my wind quirk to shoot myself up. I blew myself towards the exit and ensured my safe landing.
I looked behind me to see Shoto, who had just froze everyone behind us. To his surprise, the whole class was able to dodge.
I ran faster, not wanting anyone to catch up. Eventually, I made it to the second part of the obstacle course. Two zero-point robots stood in front of me.
By this time, Shoto was already beside me. I sighed and used my Ice quirk to freeze it. Then, I used a stronger version of my wind quirk to slice the frozen robot in half.
I ran past the robot I destroyed. I looked behind me to see another frozen robot, probably caused by Shoto. I flinched when the robot fell over.
Soon enough, I reached the third obstacle. It was kinda like a ravine, but it wasn't narrow. In fact, it was quite deep and had a bunch of platforms scattered around.
Those platforms were rocks we could jump on, and there were ropes connecting each platform to each other to help us cross.
I decided to use my wind quirk again, although I won't be taking the easy way out. I'll show the different ways I can utilize my quirk.
For this obstacle, I'll use my wind quirk to help me jump. I jumped from platform to platform, eventually making it to the other side.
Finally, I was at the last obstacle. It was a minefield. I decided to not use my quirk for now. I stayed cautious and avoided stepping on the mines.
Minutes later, Shoto and Bakugo had already caught up to me. I decided to be patient and still not use my quirk, but what made snap was Deku flying past us. I immediately used my wind quirk to shoot myself towards him.
"hey! No offense, but I didn't think you'd catch up" I said.
I was currently using my wind quirk to fly beside him.
"None taken"
I smiled at him.
"How bout we win this race together?" I asked, offering him my hand. He smiled and nodded, accepting the offer.
Once he got a good grip on my hand, I boosted us forward, finally making it to the finish line.
"AND THE STUDENT WHO TAKES FIRST PLACE IS!... IZUKU MIDORIYA AND Y/N L/N?! WE HAVE A TIE!" present mic exclaimed.
I released the breath I didn't know I was holding and proudly stood beside Deku. I caught sight of my parents, and they both gave me a thumbs up. Which reminds me, Inko must be watching, so she must have seen how I helped Deku.
~~~~
Second event: cavalry battle
"since L/n and Midoriya are on a tie, the ten million points will be split in half, and to make it ten million again, L/n and Midoriya are automatically on the same team! Now, you all have 15 minutes to form your team and strategize. Start!"
I immediately grabbed Deku's hand and began running around. People avoided us, not wanting to be targeted.
Then, a girl from the support course approached us. She explained why she wanted to be in our team, and how she would be useful, but she never told us anything about her quirk.
I placed my hand on her shoulder,
"Mei Hatsume, right? From the support course?"
"in the flesh!"
"your quirk is zoom, correct?"
She nodded enthusiastically, not at all questioning how I knew.
"Deku, you feel like something's missing, don't you?"
"Yeah, how'd you know?"
"I can feel it too. I can handle agility, and I guess a bit of offense, but my shield quirk isn't enough to play defensive, so we're lacking defense"
Deku nodded and started to look round. Both of us had spotted the same person. We looked at each other, then nodded.
"join us"
~~~~
We were doing good so far. Our defense was outstanding thanks to Tokayami.
Which reminds me, our defense was stronger thanks to the power-boosting quirk I used on all three of them.
For Tokayami's boost, I made it so that dark shadow is strong, even in daylight.
For Hatsume, I made it so that she can see in all directions, including our blind spots, which are no longer blind spots thanks to the quirk boost.
For Deku, it's obvious that I made it so that he can use his quirk without damaging his arm.
"shoot"
We were now cornered by team Todoroki. We evaded him by using his own quirk against him, staying on his left side.
We were doing good until Iida suddenly dashed quickly. We didn't have much time to react, so they successfully got the ten million points.
We chased after them, Iida no longer able to use his quirk.
When Deku was about to grab one of the headbands, Shoto put up his LEFT arm to defend himself, using his FIRE quirk.
My eyes widened, but I stayed focused. I knew their team was smart enough to jumble the headbands, so I grabbed another one, just in case.
I looked at the one I grabbed and frowned. It wasn't the ten million points. It was only 165, and Midoriya got the 70 points.
~~~
Deku apologized profusely, thinking we've lost, but a smile was plastered on my face, knowing we made it into the top 4.
Tokoyami explained how he was able to grab the headband on Todoroki's head, placing us in fourth. So, I stepped in.
"I also got this one. I knew they were smart enough to jumble the headbands, so I grabbed another one. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to grab both"
Deku wiped the tears from his eyes and gave me a hug. I flinched at the contact, my cheeks flushing a deep shade of red.
"it's fine, you didn't need to get both. Now, thanks to you and Tokoyami, we should be able to place third with 850 points!"
I let my guard down and smiled. I gave Tokoyami and Hatsume a grateful nod, while they both responded with a thumbs up.
~~~~
Third event: tournament
I watched intently, literally at the edge of my seat. Deku was up against Hitoshi Shinsou, whose quirk was brainwash. It only works when a person answers him, and he was able to trigger Deku to get him to answer.
I ran down towards the exit, to where all might was standing.
"come on Deku! Break free! We made a promise! That we'd both be great heroes together! And that starts here! You can't lose!" I said, using my telepathy quirk.
As he was about to step out of bounds, he suddenly stopped and placed his foot down, just behind the line. I saw two of his fingers twitching, and before I knew it, it caused smoke to appear around him.
'Hitoshi Shinsou, quirk, brainwash. He can brainwash people when they answer his question. To break free, the person being controlled must be hit by a strong force or feel immense pain'
The smoke cleared, revealing Deku with two broken fingers.
"yes! He did it!" I exclaimed, jumping in excitement.
All might gave me a questioning look, so I decided to explain.
"Shinsou's quirk wears off when the person being controlled gets hit by a strong force or feels immense pain. He used one for all to break two of his fingers, helping him break free!"
All might simply nodded, while Deku continued his attempt to push Shinsou out, eventually succeeding.
When they were asked to leave, I tackled him in a hug once he made it towards the exit all might and I were at.
"you did it..."
"of course! Couldn't afford to break our promise, can't I?" he said, returning the hug. I buried my face into his chest, my heart pounding heavily.
~~~
It was now my match against Kaminari since Shoto and Sero's match didn't last long.
(yes, the reader will replace Ibara)
I walked out onto the field.
"hey! We should go out after this!"
"uh, no thanks"
"Alright, suit yourself. Just so you know, this match should be over in less than a minute" he said, smirking.
He was too certain of his victory that he forgot what I was capable of.
He used 3,000,000 bolts on me, which wasn't a wise choice. Ironically, electricity is part of the elements I control, so all I did was put up my hand and absorb the electricity.
"you're right Kaminari! This would be over in less than a minute!"
I used my wind quirk to lift him up, then gently placed him out of bounds.
"L/n advances to the next round!"
I smiled and walked towards the exit, where I was met with Iida, Ochaco, Shoto, and Deku.
"congrats on your win Y/n-chan!" said Ochaco.
"Thanks, Ochaco-chan!"
"That was quite a subtle way to eliminate Kaminari, y/n" said Todoroki.
"I'd have to agree with Todoroki-kun! It was a simple way to beat him, but you presented to people your other quirks while also presenting your I.Q!" Said Deku.
I smiled at them all and thanked them.
~~~~
The first round ended with Uraraka and Bakugo facing off. It ended as Uraraka's loss, but she put up a good fight.
The first match of round of two, Shoto versus Deku. I was practically on the edge of my seat once more. I was completely aware of how strong Shoto was, and I knew Deku would stop at nothing to win, even if it meant breaking his entire body.
I watched the match intently, my own anticipations taking over my thoughts. The fight started when Shoto fired a load of ice towards Deku, who retaliated by using one of his fingers to break all the ice. Every action they took became redundant, Shoto firing ice while Deku breaks it. Eventually, Shoto's attacks slowed and became more sloppy. He was at his limit. He needed to heat up his body or else he'll lose if he keeps firing ice.
The redundant actions they made seemed to stop when Deku shouted, "IT'S YOURS! YOUR QUIRK NOT HIS!" Something seemed to snap, Shoto finally used his left side. Fire surrounded his left side as he smiled, finally seeming free. It's like he forgot all about his conflicts. It's like he forgot all about him.
He fired yet another load of ice towards Deku, the ice stronger this time. Deku dodged in hopes of getting closer to land a hit. When the gap between the two was fatal, cementosss put several walls in between them, only for them to be destroyed by an explosion. The wind pressure increased as some things flew away. I fought back by using my wind quirk to shift the direction of the wind.
The smoke cleared and anticipation hit me like a truck. There, I saw someone dear to my heart, backed up against the wall, injured and about to fall unconscious. I ran towards the ledge of the seats and jumped off. I used my wind quirk to land safely, then ran over to Deku. His body was limp on the floor, several of his bones broken, and his fingers bleeding.
I crouched down beside him and gently placed my hand on his head. I checked for any injuries to the head, began healing his injuries. My heart shattered, it wouldn't work. 'He overdid it... He broke the same bones several times. It's making it hard for me to heal him' I thought. I stood up and used my wind quirk to lift Deku. "What are you doing? Can't you heal him?", " no, I can't. His bones were broken several times, making it hard for me to heal him. I need to bring him to recovery girl." Midnight nodded, then signaled I can go on ahead.
Before I reached the exit, a hand was placed on my shoulder. I turned my head to see Shoto. "I'm sorry about Midoriya... I know how much you care for him..." "It's fine Shoto-kun. It was his choice to enrage you. Though I agree with him, it's your power, not your father's. I hope you finally feel free." I said. Shoto smiled at me and said, "tell Midoriya I said thanks." I nodded and went on ahead.
I arrived at recovery girl's office. She motioned for me to come in, and so I did. I set Deku down on the bed as she explained what she needed to do. She also explained the parts where I came in. What frightened me the most was that recovery girl said he needed surgery. 'Exactly how much did he injure himself?!' I thought. Recovery girl asked me to wait for her to do his surgery, so I did.
When she finished, she called me over to help with what I needed to do. Eventually, we were able to heal him. I gazed at him with worry, not knowing what's to come of him. "Y/n, dear, can you wake him up and help him slip his uniform on?" Only then had I noticed, Deku was shirtless. My face flushed a red hue, but it wasn't the time for this. I placed my hand on his forehead then began humming a familiar tune.
Meanwhile...
I snapped out of my daze the moment I heard a beautiful tune, which was being hummed by a beautiful voice. I slowly felt some of the pain slip away, so I began to open my eyes. I was met with my childhood friend, who was staring at me while in a daze.
Back to y/n
He was finally conscious once more, so I removed my hand. I grabbed his uniform and slipped it over his shoulders. Then, I heard footsteps and a door opening. "Y/n, they're done cleaning up the field. Your match is in five." I gave them a grateful nod and turned my attention back to Deku. "I'm sorry. If only I had shut up, I could've still won." I smiled sweetly at him and gave him my response. "True, you could've won, but you did something so much better. You helped to free a conflicted soul." He returned the smile, then recovery girl walked in.
"Thanks for the help Y/n. You should get some rest, you used up a lot of energy." I nodded gratefully and excited the office.
~~~~
Five minutes passed quickly, and so I was now on the field. I looked at the stands. There, I saw my parents, my classmates, my friends, and Deku, who was just released. Iida was my opponent for this match, so I had to give my best. Iida specializes in mobility, so it's best to immobilize him before he can do anything.
He ran at me, so I dodged with my wind quirk. I wanted to make this as quick as possible, since dragging the match would be unnecessary. I used my nature quirk to grow roots around me. Iida decided to charge at me again, so I used the roots in front of me to catch him. I made the roots grow even more, so it was able to immobilize him.
"Iida, be honest, can you move?" Asked midnight. "No, I can't." "L/n advanced to the next round!" I bowed respectfully towards Iida, then released him from the roots. "Sorry about that Iida, but everyone is trying their best, so I have to try too! And being friends with you isn't an exception." Iida smiled back at me. "I understand that L/n-chan, I was doing the same." We both bowed towards each other. Midnight jumped in delight with our little conversation.
I walked back to the stands, talking with Iida on the way. We were met with our friends, and they congratulated me and Iida. We continued to converse while watching the next matches play out.
~~~~~
The second round ended, it was time for the third round. Conveniently, I was to fight Shoto for the first match. I walked to my side, opposite of Shoto. I smiled coyly at him while the match hasn't started. "You know, you're like a brother to me, Shoto. But that doesn't mean that I'll be going easy on you." "Right back at you, Y/n."
3rd person pov
Midnight whipped the ground and signaled the start of the match. Todoroki was the first to move, shooting a load of ice towards L/n, covering her half of the arena. Murmurs were heard around the stadium. Present mic chimed in and started to do his job. "Could this be? The young sidekick of pro heroes yin yang had quickly been defeated by the son of endeavor?!"
Todoroki heaved a heavy sigh, feeling guilty for not giving her a chance. Midnight raised her whip, about to declare the match as L/n's loss. Just before the whip touched the ground, the ice exploded to millions of pieces, revealing L/n perfectly fine. Todoroki and the audience stared in shock, trying to process what happened. "I was thinking of using my fire quirk, but that would benefit you." Todoroki stared at L/n in confusion.
"Quirks are additional physical abilities that have been given to us. We all have our limits, and for you, that's how much cold you can take. The bigger ice you fire, the quicker you reach your limit. It was foolish of you to fire such a big shot when you know I'm perfectly capable of destroying it." Todoroki clenched his teeth in frustration. L/n smiled coyly, "it's nothing personal onii-san, but look. You're quivering." Todoroki knew she was right, but he couldn't give in to his father's will.
He fired another big shot, but L/n easily destroyed it. "Stop being foolish! You can't win with half of your strength! Hasn't Deku taught you that already?! Didn't you see what happened to him when you finally used up everything you got?!" Todoroki's eyes widened. He's never witnessed his sister like figure have an outburst before. He didn't let that stop him though.
He fired another shot, which was shattered once more. "Fine. If you don't wanna use fire, I will!" Instead of firing head-on, Todoroki started to freeze the floor. L/n was prepared though. She did a backhand whip, but only landing on one hand. When her hand landed on the ice, it slowly started to freeze, but the effects were reversed when she used her fire quirk. The fire spread across the floor, melting the ice Todoroki made. The fire faded as L/n finished the backhand whip by landing on her feet.
"If you wanna defeat me, might as well use all you got, right?!" He fired the same shot as his first, and that seemed to set L/n off. Instead of the ice breaking into a million pieces, the fire caused by L/n blew it away. Fire surrounded the girl, making the scene look beautiful but destructive.
"Come on Shoto! It's your quirk! Your quirk, not his! You decide what you do with it! You decide what becomes of it! Don't let a personal grudge hold you back from what you're truly capable of!" Time seemed to stop as they would describe it. Todoroki finally realized that both Midoriya and L/n were right. It was foolish of him not to realize sooner. If only he had remembered what his mother said. If only he had remembered that time when he heard all might say that a quirk belongs to that person, even if they inherited it from someone else.
He finally let it all out, each fire from the opposing sides clashing creating a beautifully destructive scene. The conflicted soul that was once held back by a personal grudge was finally set free and was ready to develop itself to its full potential. He shot a big load of fire towards L/n, who only smiled sweetly at him.
The said flames engulfed her, making the crowd sit on the edge of their seats once more. Smoke still surrounded the girl, making it unknown to the crowd whether she lost or not. The smoke cleared and revealed the girl, still standing with now wet hands. "You finally did it. You have been set free onii-san. I know what happened between you and your father, and why you have a grudge against him, but take it this way. A grudge is a shackle that holds you back from developing. I suggest you visit your mother, she'd appreciate it greatly."
To say that Todoroki was shocked is an understatement. He was beyond bewildered when he heard her. All she did was smile coyly at him. "Now that you've realized your mistake and have been set free, my job here is done. It's time to end this match." She put out all the fires with her water quirk, then looked back at Todoroki. Her eyes glowed crimson red, signifying she activated embezzlement.
The wind suddenly sped up, making the entirety of class 1-A realize she was about to do something big with her wind quirk. When the wind was at a nonexistent natural pace, she raised her hand high in the air, then pointed at Todoroki. At that moment, all the wind was directed towards Todoroki, slowly making him lose his balance. The wind pressure increased every time he struggled. Eventually, he gave in to his loss and accepted his fate.
He was blown out of bounds by the ragging winds, midnight declaring it as his loss. Y/n bowed respectfully. "I'm sorry if I dragged the match. I just wanted to help set you free." "Actually, I've been thinking. I should visit her. Thank you, and Midoriya, for opening my eyes." Both bowed then exited the stage. Y/n was greeted by her friends, who congratulated her for her victory, while Todoroki was congratulated by Midoriya, for learning how to accept the quirk he was given as his.
~~~~
The final match, the round where the winner would be declared. The atmosphere was tense. No one knew what would become of L/n, since the last time they fought, L/n ended up having breathing complications. Both students walked up to the stage, a scowl on there faces. The said pair hated each other, but only Bakugo held a grudge. L/n despised him for bullying her dear childhood friend and ended up unfriending him, but she held no grudge at all and treated him as equally nice(with some exceptions) as she treats others.
Bakugo, on the other hand, was more than pissed to be fighting her. To say he despised her was an understatement, he loathed her entire existence. Her mere presence makes him wanna throw a fit. The mention of her name makes him wanna tear something apart, put it back together, then repeat. For his entire childhood, he was well aware of how strong she was. They became friends when she ended up saving him from a never mentioned event. But what led him to despise her, was that she saw potential in quirkless people.
The time she caught him bullying Midoriya was the beginning of their hatred towards each other. She hated how he tended to look down on people, while he hated how she supported people who were practically hopeless. He didn't see any point in helping "hopeless extras". Nonetheless, he was heartbroken when their friendship ended. It would be a lie if he said that he never admired her for her beauty, passion, and strength. Not only that but the entirety of her looks, personality, and qualities enticed him.
That moment they distanced from each other was heartbreaking for Bakugo, but he never showed it and decided to only show his hatred towards her. Up to now, that grudge remains within the depths of his heart, but it would be absolute deceit if he said he didn't care for her. He felt slight guilt after what he did to her in battle training, but that wouldn't stop him from winning.
All those emotions he felt back then would finally be let out during this battle. All his rage, all his hatred, everything, except for his admiration of her. His pride was in the way, so that would be the day. Tiny explosions erupted from his fist just at the thought. He was ready. He gripped his right wrist with his left hand, then raise his arm. He fired a huge explosion at L/n, who didn't at all make a move. The explosion was the same one he used in his battle with Uraraka, the one he used to clear the falling debris.
The explosion landed directly at her, the smoke from the explosion surrounding her area, making it unknown whether she's unconscious. The smoke cleared, revealing L/n with a seemingly dazed look on her face. Despite the dazed look she had, she seemed unfazed. Shade was thrown all over her, making her appearance seem dark(a/n: something like the shadow that covered Todoroki's face when he told Midoriya about his past). "that was a huge shot. And look, you're holding your wrist." Her voice wasn't her usual cheery tone, in fact, she sounded emotionless and dark. "Let's test my theory."
She charged at Bakugo, attempting to put him under pressure, which worked very well. Bakugo raised the same arm, then fired the same explosion. A sharp pain was met with his arm. He was strained. The reason why he included those gauntlets in his costume was so that he can do strong, long-distance attacks without taking risks. Without his costume, he was prone to strains whenever he created huge explosions.
"I was right." The smoke cleared, revealing the still standing girl. The crowd was on edge, the same question echoing in everyone's minds, while Mineta, from class 1-A, decided to voice it out. "How is she withstanding his explosions?! The first time he fired a big shot at her, she ended up with breathing complications! And now this?! Has she done something to increase her endurance?!" Everyone from 1-A vocally agreed to Mineta, while on the other hand, Midoriya stayed silent, absolutely terrified of what's gonna happen.
He was paranoid. 'What if the same thing happens again?! What if something worse happens?! What if Kacchan knocks her into a coma?! What if he accidentally injures her too much that she'd die from injuries?!' These questions echoed in Midoriya's head. He was highly uncertain and had a feeling of uneasiness.
"Whenever you create a large explosion, it causes you to strain yourself with the overuse of your quirk." L/n's voice snapped everyone out of their thoughts. The crowd was put on edge once more, anticipation hitting them hard. "If you don't lay back, you'll break yourself." Bakugo's temper raised. He couldn't take how she acted so calmly. He raised his left hand then fired another large shot, then another, and another.
Actions became redundant. It was clear as daylight. L/n and the crowd knew that Bakugo would rather break himself than lose to L/n. Despite her hatred towards Bakugo, L/n could no longer tolerate what he's been doing to himself. This made her emotionally unstable. Should she be helping her opponent? Should she heal him to help him regain strength? She snapped when she heard Bakugo scream in pain when he fired another shot. That was it, she couldn't take it anymore.
"BAKUGO! STOP IT! YOU'RE BREAKING YOURSELF!" An unfamiliar aura surrounded L/n. It was a bright green aura that can blind anyone who stares for too long. The crowd covered their eyes, and so did Bakugo. Before he knew it, all the pain he felt was gone and was replaced with the feeling of being swept up into the air. He moved his arms, which were obscuring his vision. He was met with L/n still having the same aura but was looking at him with a concerned look.
Eventually, the aura around L/n disappeared, and Bakugo was gently placed on the ground, out of bounds. Midnight declared L/n's victory, while everyone pondered on the sudden awakening of her quirk. Without looking back, L/n walked away from the stage. She was met with a teary-eyed Deku at the exit. She smiled sweetly at him, then opened her arms, knowing what Deku wanted at the moment.
He ran to her and engulfed her in a tight hug. L/n buried her face into Midoriya's chest, taking in his scent. Midoriya let his tears flow freely, all his worries finally dispersing. "I was so worried about you..." He said. She smiled coyly at him. "Don't worry, I knew what I was doing. I just didn't know that Bakugo would go that far to the point of breaking himself." "But still... What if his quirk were to have an awakening too? What if he injures you badly? I wouldn't be able to forgive myself for not stepping in..." "Well, even if you wanted to, the faculty wouldn't let you step in."
The two childhood friends remained hugging, L/n allowing Midoriya to let all of it out.
~~~~~
Sooner or later, the awarding ceremony came around. All might rewarded them the medals. Tokoyami and Todoroki were awarded a third-place medal. Both of their expressions remained stoic, but both showed gratitude either way. Next, Bakugo was awarded a second-place medal. His expression made him seem dazed and lost in thought. Lastly, L/n was awarded the first-place medal. She smiled coyly at the crowd, who cheered in excitement. And with that, the sports festival was officially over.
