Y/N's POV
"Y/N, what are you talking about?" He asked as he set you on your bed "It's nothing Shadow really." You said but he wasn't buying it as he crossed his arms and gave you the 'really' look. As you sat in your bed you looked down and let out a sigh "Fine, you really wanna know?" You asked as he nodded in response.

You let out a shaky sigh as you soon took a deep breath. "It all started when my mom died after I was born.. My dad started drinking and later on started abusing me and forcing me to do things I didn't want to."

"Daddy please I'm sorry."

"I'll decide when you've been forgiven."

"Please daddy... no... No!!"

You looked over at Shadow seeing tears falling from his crimson orbs "He found it suitable to beat me, lock me in the in the attic, or.." You felt tears sting your E/C eyes as you looked down at your blanket "Ever since than he always complained of me eating to much and whenever I did eat he'd force me to go outside... So I started starving myself so he wouldn't have a reason to put me outside." You explained as you felt a pair of arms wrap around you, as you turned around you saw Shadow hugging you tightly with tears streaming down his cheeks "I won't let him hurt you. I promise, I'll take you back to my world.. I swear it." He said as you hugged him back "Thank you Shadow." You replied but what you didn't expect was for him to crawl into bed with you as you felt your cheeks heat up by how close he was "S-Shadow?" You stuttered as you felt him pull you close while he nuzzled into your chest. "Why do you remind me so much of her?" He asked himself but you couldn't help but overhear him "I remind of you who?" You asked, you noticed Shadow's crimson eyes begin to swell with tears as you gently stroked his quills trying to calm him down "Maria" he said and that's when it finally came to you.

'Do I remind him of Maria?' You thought as you mentally slapped yourself for what you were about to do. You leaned down and gently kissed Shadows head as you turned around to face the wall now a blushing mess 'Why did I do that!? Stupid, stupid, stupid!' You mentally yelled and cursed at yourself until you felt a hand make it's way around your waist only for you to be pulled closer to the ebony hedgehog "Thank you" he muttered 'Why is he thanking me' you thought "It's because, Maria used to do that before I went to bed back on the Ark." He explained but you immediately felt bad thinking of how Shadow and Maria were practically brother and sister.

You were about to say something when you heard your front door open "Oh no" you said as you jumped out of bed and started moving your dresser in front of the empty space as to were your door used to be "Shadow hide!" You exclaimed as he looked around until he ran into your closet while you hid under your bed. "Y/N!!" You heard your father shout from downstairs as you felt tears swell into your eyes. You heard him stomping up the stairs, you were practically hugging yourself at this point just hoping that this would end... But it didn't.

You felt something grab your leg as you were pulled out from under your bed "No, let me go!!" You shouted as you tried to punch and kick. But nothing was working "What did I tell you!? You're supposed to cook for me and yet you take it upon yourself to disobey me!!" You continued to fight his grip until he grabbed you by your waist and pinned you to the bed "N-No, please!" You begged as you felt tears fall down your cheeks you figured that he was drunk again but he wasn't.

You felt your father pin your hands above your head as you struggled against his grip "Maybe this'll teach you, you little slut." He said as he leaned down and kissed your neck you wanted to scream for help but you knew you couldn't. You looked around for your phone but you couldn't find it 'Shadow, I'm so sorry' you thought as you felt a hand slide under your shirt. You closed your eyes tight wanting this to end until you felt the pressure on your hands fade. You slowly opened your eyes as gasped seeing your father on the floor unconscious, you looked up to see Shadow panting as he walked towards your bag and started packing your things "Shadow, what are you-" "We're leaving, I'm getting you out of here." He said in a stern tone, you nodded in agreement not wanting to be here any longer.

You walked passed your father's unconscious body as Shadow took your hand and walked you downstairs. You looked over at the coat rack and grabbed a small coat and your winter coat in case it got cold or started snowing. You looked back and handed one the coats to Shadow "You'll need a disguise." You said as you walked into the kitchen and grabbed your dad's wallet "This'll be useful when it comes to food." You looked back at Shadow and saw that he was ready go he even had the jacket on with the hood up "You ready?" He asked as you nodded and took the bag from Shadow.

"So where will we go?" You asked as Shadow took your hand and led you into the forest were the two of you had first met. "There's an old cabin out here, I saw when you first landed in this dimension." He explained you couldn't help but wonder about how your life would've been different if Shadow hadn't come along, you were thankful that he was here but you still couldn't help but feel bad for Shadow. To you this felt like the day Shadow had lost Maria.

You soon looked over at Shadow seeing him with a stern look "Shadow?" You said as he looked into your E/C eyes "Is everything okay?" He asked as you stopped causing Shadow to grow concerned "How are you so brave?" You asked.

Shadow's POV
"How are you so brave?" She asked I was taken aback not expecting a question like that "Well, don't tell anyone but I'm not always brave." I confessed but I insisted that we keep walking "But, what about when you face Sonic or Eggman?" She asked and that's when it hit me.

"How do you know about Sonic and Eggman?"
