Y/N's POV

You woke up the next morning but instead of being alone you saw a sleeping figure next to you 'Shadow' you thought but you couldn't help but think of yesterday, you thought it was some kind of dream. He turned around in the chair next to you causing you to flinch a bit, you soon noticed his eyes slowly open soon revealing his crimson one's.  "Good morning" he yawned causing a slight blush to spread across your cheeks "g-good morning" you stuttered.  The ebony hedgehog stretched as you saw his striped quills shake, you soon stretched as well letting out a yawn in the process. You noticed the ebony hedgehog looking at you from behind as he stood up and walked towards you.

"Can I... Help. You?" You asked causing the crimson eyed hedgehog to look into your E/C ones "Name?" He asked but you couldn't quite understand what he meant the first time "Excuse me?" "Your name?" He repeated as you to mentally face palmed yourself.

"My name right my name is Y/N L/N" the ebony hedgehog gave you a slight smile but that's when an idea popped into your mind 'I've always wanted to ask this' you looked over to the striped hedgehog and gave him a gentle smile "So, what's your name?" You asked as he looked over at you with his arms crossed "I am Shadow, Shadow the hedgehog" he introduced as you squealed mentally. But before you could get a word out you heard knocking on your door "Y/N, get your ass out here now!!" Your dad shouted as you began to panic, but your actions didn't go unnoticed as Shadow looked over at you and took mental notes of your facial expressions. "Y/N, if you don't get your ass out here I'm taking this door off!" He yelled as you began hyperventilating. Shadow looked over at you, his expression soon changing, he took your hand and sat you down on your F/C bed as he began to gently rub your back in a calming manner. "Hey, hey everything's gonna be okay... I won't let him hurt you." He said as you looked him in his crimson red eyes and pulled him into a hug, he was a bit shocked at first but you soon felt his arms wrap around you in his warm embrace.

Shadow's POV

I don't understand, what's gotten into me? But for some reason it reminds me of...

"Come on Shadow you'll love this." I followed Maria to her location until we ended up in front of a large window but I noticed Maria staring at something. I looked through the window and noticed a large planet "What is that Maria?" "It's Earth" she replied but when she told me the name of this planet her eyes seemed sparkle. I looked back at Earth and thought for a moment "Maria, do you wish to go down there?" I asked as she nodded "Very much grandfather has told me so much about Earth and how beautiful it is down there." She explained but the more she talked about this planet the more she seemed to light up. "Maria" I said as she looked over at me "I promise, I'll do whatever it takes to get you there" I said as Maria pulled me into a hug "oh Shadow you have no idea how much that means to me. You really are my best friend." She said as I hugged back. We soon looked back towards the window and enjoyed the view of the beautiful planet 'I promise you Maria'.

I was soon snapped back into reality, as I heard Y/N scream. I looked over towards her door and noticed the hinges falling off. "Shadow, you need to hide hurry" she instructed but I didn't listen I told her that I wouldn't let this man hurt her and that's what I'm going to do but before I could do anything I was shoved into a closet and soon noticed that her dresser was placed in front of it to keep me from getting out. "I'm sorry Shadow" was the last thing I heard before the door came toppling down, I could hardly see but I looked through a small crack when I saw her backing away.

"Why you little!" It was her dad he was yelling at her and before I knew it he had Y/N by her hair and dragged her across the floor and out of the room 'no, no, no, no, no' I thought to myself as I attempted to push her closet open but luckily after a few tries I was able to slip out. I saw the damage of her door it was completely destroyed. I ran into the hallway when I soon heard her father's voice.

"If this shit isn't clean by the time I get back your punishment will be far worse." He explained before I heard a door open than close shortly after as the sound of a car engine filled my ears 'he's gone' I thought as I ran down the stairs but before I reached the last step I got a glimpse of the living room. Picture frames and dishes destroyed as Y/N layed in the center of the living room limp "oh no" I said as I ran over to her and rested her head on my lap. Her head was bleeding and her cheek was bruised, I held her close not wanting to let go.

"Maria!" I shouted as I took her hand and ran with her close behind me "Hey, stop right there!" A man yelled, there were several of them with weapons as they chased Maria and I into the same room that I was created in. "Shadow in here" Maria whispered as we hid behind a control panel but before I could look over to make sure we we're safe Maria pushed me into an escape pod. "Maria!" I shouted as she looked over at me one last time before Maria was shot in front of me

"MARIA!" I shouted one last time before the lever to the escape pod was pulled.

I held Y/N in my arms as I cried in her neck, she reminds me so much of Maria. I promise to protect her no matter what, I promise to keep her safe, I promise...
