Y/N's POV
You were currently cleaning up the kitchen like your father had instructed, you never really argued with him after what happened last time, your neck still hurts. You've tried to call the police but your dad would always say that you were making up lies.

As you finished cleaning you announced to your father that you were going out for a walk. He didn't normally care just as long as you didn't go to far, but he didn't really need to worry. Ever since your mom died your dad as been taking her death out on you saying that it was your fault so he forced you to go to a hospital and have a tracking device implanted into your back.

You always hated how he did such things to you but when you had the opportunity to go to school, it was your safe place. Well sort of, people were rude and bullied you a lot but it was better than what your father would do to you.

You walked out into the backyard which lead to the woods, you always enjoyed the atmosphere of the tree's and the birds chirping up in the tree's 'I wonder if mom would enjoy this just as much as me' you thought and that's when you found it. A perfect tree, you walked towards the large tree and sat down in the middle of the woods enjoying the sounds of nature around you until.

SNAP

You whipped your head around but couldn't see anyone or anything. "Hello, i-is anyone there?" You stuttered at this point you were shaking in fear as you closed your eye's tightly wanting who or what to leave "P-Please... Don't hurt me... " You whimpered, you could feel tears sliding down your cheeks in fear and who or whatever was there noticed your fear as you felt a presence standing in front of you.

"I'm not going to hurt you." It said but the voice sounded quite familiar, you wanted to open your eyes but couldn't you were still scared but whoever was there was some how able to calm you down as the mysterious person helped you sit down, but this person seemed to be a bit short. You didn't know how to exactly describe it, you took a few steady breaths and soon slightly opened your eyes. You looked down towards the ground and soon took a sigh of relief "calm down Y/N it's all in your head." You whispered, and that's when you heard the leaves crunching you turned your head and jumped back a bit only to notice a black and red striped hedgehog sitting up against the same tree as you.

"Y-Your" you stuttered out only for the ebony hedgehog to give you a strange look but as you were going to continue you heard your phone go off.

"Hello" you answered only to hear yelling from your dad "Y/N I THOUGHT I TOLD YOU TO CLEAN THE DAMN KITCHEN!" He shouted but you knew that you had cleaned it up from top to bottom "But dad I-" you tried to tell him but he cut you off "I don't want an excuse get your ass back to the house in 5 minutes NOW!" He shouted one last time before hanging up.

You looked down at the ebony hedgehog as he looked back at you with soft crimson eyes.

"I-I have to go." You said but before you could walk away you felt a hand grab your wrist. "Is everything alright you seemed scared when your father called you?" He asked as he kept his grip on your wrist not letting go until he got an explanation. "Y-Yeah everything's fine, my dad's just a bit cranky." You replied as the striped hedgehog gave a strange look "your lying" he blurted out causing you to look away but... He was right you were lying cause you knew if you told anyone about what your father does to you he'd do more than just beat you.

You pulled your wrist out of the hedgehogs grasp and walked away soon leaving your safe place and the hedgehog by himself.

You opened the door to see your dad sitting on the couch with a knife in hand. "I thought I told you to get here in 5 minutes so tell me. WHY DID IT TAKE YOU 10 DAMN MINUTES TO WALK BACK HERE!?!" He shouted causing you to flinch at his words but before you could get a word out the knife had already been thrown just inches away from your head but you were able to feel it pierce the side of your ear as you felt tears sliding down your cheeks.

"Your room NOW!" He yelled as you walked upstairs and locked the door, you slid down against the door and hugged your knees tight as you let the tears fall.

Shadow's POV

I had followed the girl back to her home, I didn't know why she was lying or what was going on but I was determined to find out. I looked through a nearby window and saw a man and the girl I came across, I guess the man in her home was her father but what I didn't expect was for him to throw a knife near her head. "Damn it faker you and your friends better get that damn portal fixed." I whispered to myself as I climbed up to the roof only to see the young girl slide down her door in tears and before I knew it she was asleep.

"Chaos Control"

I entered the girls room and soon noticed what she stuck living with, the closer I got to her the more I noticed that she had multiple bruises, her ear was cut from the knife, and had so many scars. I gently picked up the girl and placed her in her bed as I stroked a piece of hair from her face. I sat in a chair next to her waiting for her to wake up but I soon noticed a mirror in the corner of her room. It looked like it had been smashed but I couldn't tell if it was her father's doings so I let it slide, but before I could process anything about this girl I looked over to her once again she looked so fragile as if she was a delicate flower that needed to be protected from harm, just like... "Maria, I made you promise and now I've found someone worth protecting... I promise you"

"I'll save you"

Alright new book so yeah my first Shadow x Reader but let me know how the first chapter was it actually took me a while to write it but you know what to me it was worth it but I want your opinions to so as always have a good day everybody.
