Chapter 5: Diamond Killer
It had been a couple of days since Connie's demise. The murder had been all over the news: And they predicted it was the same killer of Kevin. On Connie's chest was a bloody carving of a diamond, similar to the one on Kevin. Pearl was devastated, and highly surprised. Her fellow student's sword training had been useless against her killer, more specifically Steven. Not that she knew it WAS Steven. Garnet couldn't seem to make sense with her vision. It just wasn't clear. Everytime she'd try to see what was going on with Kevin or Connie's murders, it'll always go static and it wouldn't show clearly. That was bad news for everyone else, but good news for Steven.
"Hello Beach City. I'm Ass Sprinkles," the news lady said.
"And I'm White Stain," the other news reporter said. "And we have some breaking news regarding the death of Connie Maheswaren and how it could be linked to Kevin's. As police investigate the scenes, they have found that both bodies have a diamond symbol carved somewhere on them. For Ms. Maheswaren, it was on the chest, as well as Mr. Kevin's."
"The Beach City police call this mysterious murder the Diamond Killer, named after the markings. There is no evidence on who this killer could be, but police suggest you stay inside your homes, keep eye on your children, and don't go out at night."
Doug appeared in front of the camera, as well as a teary eyed Priyanka, though she was crying on her husband's shoulder. His eyes were red, signaling he once had tears leaking out as well. "My Connie was a good girl, she really was," he said through a croaked voice. "Whoever did this, you should be ashamed! Murdering children for your own sick enjoyment! You must have broken out of an aslyum, a mind do sick to do such a thing. Hopefully we find who you are and I'll make sure you pay for what you did to my daughter!"
An interviwer beside them held the microphone out to Priyanka. "Any words, Dr. Maheswaren?" There was nothing but muffled cried. The interviewer faced the camera once again. "As Ass Sprinkles has said, keep an eye out for your children and stay inside of your homes to avoid being the next victim."
Pearl paced around as she tried to process everything she had just heard. "Diamond Killer, huh?" she repeated. "Can't believe they managed to get away with no evidence..."
Steven wanted to smile proudly at himself and his work. But he knew that would give it away. Amethyst was next to him eating nachos, but it was mainly to calm herself down, thinking she was next. "Garnet, are you sure you can't see anything with your future vision? Anything at all? Not even any suspects?"
Garnet sat quietly. She was looking through her vision, trying to predict the 'Diamond Killer's next attack. "I can't..." she replied weakly and quietly. "Something's wrong. I can't see anything...it's just blurry. I can't track any movement or anything."
Perfect, Steven thought maliciously to himself. And it's better for you and everyone else as long as it stays that way.
"Could this be a gem?" Pearl asked. She recieved a shrug from Garnet.
"Can't be sure."
Spinel was silent this whole time. For some reason, she actually felt bad for Connie. Sure, she was sort of sad when Connie got upset with her, but she didn't think death was necessary. She didn't want anything bad to happen to her, or anybody for that matter. Though she might want something to happen to....
no...
She wasn't going to wish karma upon the Diamonds. She might just jinx herself and they just might take her away. Spinel didn't wanna leave Senpapi Steven. That was her best friend. Her REAL best friend. Any seperation from him would make her sad greatly. Besides, he was protecting her. He promised to make sure she was safe and out of the Diamonds hands. She trusted it. And forever will.
"If this psycho is really as crazy as we say, that means that none of us have any less chance of being attacked, right? Especially if it's a gem doing all this. They'll obviously go after some gems as well if their that crazed," Pearl stated. She took a glimpse at Spinel, who seemed a bit intimidated but was overall decent. "Which means what if Spinel doesn't want to be a victim, she's gonna have to-"
"She isn't going back to the Diamonds, Pearl," Steven deadpanned.
"But Steven, what's gonna happen when she gets attacked? Wouldn't she be safer with the Diamonds?"
"Of course she won't! She's literally scared as hell of them. If anything, she's staying here. With me. Isn't that right, Spinel?"
They turned their attention to the pink gem. Of course she wanted to stay here. She wasn't going back with the Diamonds thats for sure. Why Pearl would even have the idea of sending her back to the gems that she wanted to flee from was beyond her. Spinel didn't to leave and go BACK. And the thought of leaving Steven...it almost gave her a headache. She looked down at Steven. He was patiently waiting on an answer. Somoething told her to say yes, and if she didn't then someone- or somegem- was going to get hurt. Her eyes met his. If Spinel didn't know any better, she'd would've said she saw a hint of pink in his eyes. And at that moment, Spinel caught herself in a trance.
The pink color almost hypnotized her.
Snapping out of it, she nodded. "Y-yeah. I can't go back with them...murderer or not...I'm staying with Steven." She stuttered, earning a pat on the head from Senpapi.
Good girl~
"But Spinel what about-" Pearl tried to protest. But she was once again interrupted by Steven. "She's already made up her mind. Period. Dot. End of sentence."
Spinel could feel and arm wrap around her waist and pull her close. She looked down and saw Steven's arm, holding her tightly. She didn't have a problem with it, but he was holding her like he wasn't going to let her go anywhere to anyone. Of course the gems didn't notice: they were too busy talking about the 'Diamond Murderer' and wether or not Spinel was right to decide to stay on Earth and not go back where its safe with the Diamonds.
"But what about the killer! And if it's a gem...!"
"Pearl, that's enough. Spinel can defend herself."
"But Garnet-"
"Enough is enough Pearl."
Amethyst intervened. "Why does it matter? Spinel has a rejuvinator, she'll slice the killer like a pizza pie. And we all like sliced pizza pies, amirite? Or is that just me?" While Pearl was still opposed to the idea of Spinel staying (for some particular reason we will never know), she sighed and gave up on the arguement. There really was no point in doing so.
"Ok...ok," she finally said with a hint of disagreement. "I'll leave it alone...for now..."
Amethyst took out her whip in a fighting stance and a mischeivous grin. "And besides! If that killer comes near us me and Spinel can kick their ass! Right Spins?" She earned a soft chuckle from her. "Heh, sure. I mean, I haven't used my rejuvinator in a while. And I promise I won't use it on Steven this time, hehe."
"She might as well use it on you guys again. Better yet, let me do it," Steven added.
"Heh, yeah! A battle between us and you! Nice one, Stee." Amethyst replied jokingly.
"But I wasn't kidding."
"Yeah yeah, feed your imagination, bro. Feed your imagination." The purple gem continued to take the hybrid's threat as a joke, which it really wasn't. The news kept going, either regarding weather or the Diamond Killer. Steven wondered how many people he could kill in one night...or even gems for that matter. To be honest, he wanted to know what blood tasted like. Or what it felt like to shatter a gem...and hold the shards in his hand. These were twisted thoughts, yes, but he didn't really care. As a matter of fact, since Amethyst was a good example...
"Senpapi Steven?" His thoughts were interrupted by Spinel's sweet voice. "What are ya thinking about?"
"Nothing you should worry about," he replied, his morbid thoughts disappearing for a split second. "Well, not right now anyway." She smiled and nodded. Steven didn't know how she'd react if he told her what he was doing for her love: Either be happy that Kevin and Connie are gone or be the complete opposite with fear and resistance. Pff, resistance. He'd like to see her try. After a few minutes, Pearl spoke up.
"Garnet, can you look to see how the Diamonds are doing? If Spinel wants to stay here, it's better we know when and if they're coming to Earth."
Garnet started looking with her vision. It took a minute or 2 for her to give a response. "For now they're searching, but won't be on Earth for a while. And...they're talking about what they're planning to do with her...but other than that, she should be safe."
"Can you keep an eye out? Just to keep us updated," Amethyst asked while stuffing her mouth with nachos. "On the Diamonds, where they're searching, and possibly if the killer is near us. I doubt that last part though, since you say that was kinda blurry and unclear."
The fusion responded with a thumbs up as she continued to keep note of the Diamonds' movement. Spinel had the urge to wrap her arms around Stevenn at the thought of the 3 Goddesses. Now that Garnet had brought them up, she started getting some...thoughts. Some bad thoughts...were the still gonna lock her up? Would they do worse because of her outburst? Would they send her back to the garden...
Or perhaps shattering....?
"Please don't come here...please don't come here...please don't come here..." She kept muttering to herself. Or in this case quiet begging. She wrapped her cute lil' noodle arms around Senpapi Steven a couple of times. He freed his arm and put it around her shoulder in reassurance.
"She's still scared? Damn."
"Well no dip, Amy," Steven said, her shock annoying him a bit. "I can't see why you're so fucking surprised."
The purple gem shrugged. She was actually more surprised at how triggered he was getting in only a matter of seconds. "Sorry, dude. I was just wondering for a gem not afraid to bring an injector here that she'd still be scared now. Not that I'm saying that she's a coward or anything."
"Well...I mean..." Spinel really started to feel like a little wuss now. "I uh...."
"Come on! Imagine if the Diamonds actually came here. And what if-"
"Amethyst, stop-"
"What if they came here and got us? Better yet, they shatter us for helping you hide?"
Steven could feel Spinel's grip tighten slowly. She obviously wasn't comfortable with this, or even imagining what could possibly happen to her. "Please shut the hell up Ame..."
She kept on ranting. "Wait! What if we turned into their SERVANTS?"
Suddenly, Spinel got to the point where she loosened her arms completely and got off from the couch. Her sudden movement caught them by surprise. And the next thing you know, she was already up into Steven's room, the door slamming behind her. Everyone looked at Amethyst, who was slightly confused, but also realized she dun fucked up. Words couldn't describe how triggered Steven was, and the ways he wanted to torture Amethyst for making his beloved shed tears. He had to keep himself form turning pink right here and there. But instead, he calmed himself down, though deep inside he was ready to shove his blade right through Amethyst's gem..just to step on the shards and make sure the shards were so small they were considered dust. The hybrid followed Spinel to his room. From the other side he heard muffled cries and sniffles.
Yep, Amethyst just fucked with the WRONG hybrid.... He thought to himself as he opened the door to see Spinel curled up in a ball with her stuffed bunny, fearful tears running down her cheeks. Seeing her like that gave him more the reason to end the gem that started this.
"Spinel..." he called her name, but most likely she couldn't hear over her own crying. "Look, I know Amethyst is a dumbass...so don't worry about her. I'll take care of her."
As he sat beside her, Spinel sat up and wept the continuously falling tears. Though it didn't do any good. "N-no...it's alright...I'm just being a crybaby..."
"You're not a crybaby. It's just that rejected stone in there doesn't know when to shut the fuck up about certain topics..." Steven muttered, getting pissed by the moment. "I don't like it when anyone makes you cry, Spinel. And I'm not making an exception for that defect of a gem."
"What do you mean? What's gonna happen to her?"
"Oh ya know...she's gonna go on vacation to this place called 'Gem Hell', hehe."
Spinel held her bunny tight. "I've never heard of that place....."
"And it's good you don't. Cause I don't need for you to get hurt, my darling," Steven said as he thought of ways to shatter Amethyst. Spinel was starting to feel better for a little bit. It wasn't that fact she hated Amethyst, which she didn't, it was just she hated how she brought back memories and possibly jixing their luck. She was glad Senpapi was taking care of her. He's just about the only one that's actually been protecting her and not giving her ideas of...'them'.
"So...you'll make sure Amethyst doesn't bother me anymore? Or the Diamond Killer eveyrone was talking about?"
"Of course," he replied, almost chuckling to himself. It'll be like protecting her from HIMSELF! But of course, he was killing for her and for her only. "The Diamonds...Amethyst...anyone. If they fuck with you, they're fucking with me."
Spinel smiled gratefully. "Thank you..."
"Spinel...I want you to do something for me."
She looked up at him; his eyes were pink again. For some reason she couldn't help but stare into them. Maybe it was the dazzle that attracted her to them, or the fact they had diamond pupils. "Yes...Senpapi?"
"Don't say anything to the gems. Not Pearl, not Garnet...ESPECIALLY not Amethyst. I have some business to attend with her tomorrow. Understand?" She nodded, still caught up in the pink glistening in his eyes. He smiled maliciously and cupped her cheeks. "Good girl," he said. Then he gave her a kiss on the forehead, putting her in a trance. A good trance. Spinel could feel her cheeks turn pink from blushing. She giggled.
"Eheheh...Thanks..."
Steven ruffled her hair and left. Spinel laid back, her stuffed bunny in her arms, and started thinking.
Heh...he sure does know how to cheer a poor gem up. I'm so lucky to have a best friend like him...
........
Hey Kat Kommunity!
I'm FINALLY here with an update! I know it's been a while, I've been typing my little ass off for this. Well we see that Steven's getting more attached to Spinel, and Amethyst has just asked for a death request. Will Garnet ever find out who the REAL Diamond Killer is? Are the Diamonds gonna eventually find Spinel? And does Spinel love Steven like he obsesses with her? Hell, I dunno. Gotta read more chappies to find that out. Don't forget to vote, comment, and tell meh what ya think!
Keep calm and sleep on,
