Chapter 11: Me and You

Hey Kat Kommun! Guess what? The story's almost finished. But, with how slow I am, it probably won't be done until 3191 XD. Thankfully, there's some Fluffy action! ❤️❤️❤️ Our Stevie may be a monster, but he's also a lover boy!

Get some ice cream, some whipped cream, and a Caprisun, and let's get into it!

"Gosh, I'm stuffed..." Spinel groaned, although satisfied, as she collapsed into a noodle mess onto a nearby bench with Lapis and Peridot. "I didn't know Earth had so much..."

"Fat? Yeah, how do think Stevie got so thicc?" Lapis joked, finishing off a funnel cake.

Spinel smiled and chuckled, patting her full stomache. "I guess that makes sense. Seriously, I don't get how humans can eat all of this stuff. We practically ate everything Funland had to offer! I especially liked those fried butter sticks, but yeesh, I feel sick now."

Peridot, who hadn't eaten as much as her companions, was munching on the only other snack she had other than that cotton candy stick: A small pack of mini pigs-in-a-blanket. She sat beside Spinel, amused at her vulnerability. "Pff, that's what happens when you have 4 fried butter sticks, 2 cotton candies, 5 funnel cakes, and 3 large sodas. Then on top of that, you competed in the hot dog eating contest and won. That's around 40 hot dogs!"

True; Lapis had dared Spinel to enter, where there was a cash prize of $500 and a free ticket to Bali (which Spinel didn't even know what Bali was). Never one to turn down a challenge, Spinel obliged and took down 9 other competitors, scarfing down all 40 of those things within 5 minutes. That pissed off the usual winner, who tried to attack her, but then Lapis and Peridot stepped in to defend her. So, she ended up with half a grand and a ticket to a place she never knew existed.

Afterwards they got on more rides, stuffed their stomaches, and after they reached the fried butter sticks, their stomaches were as good as full.

"Hey, you know Amethyst woulda loved today." Lapis mentioned, trying to add some humor to the day. "You know, with all the binge eating..."

However, even she didn't find the humor in it. Instead of brightening the mood, it turned gloomy as memories of Amethyst popped up in their heads. She was right; Amy would've cummed the second she had her first funnel cake. But she couldn't. She was dead. And that realization, once it dawned upon them, made them sad.

Spinel was by far feeling the most grief of the trio. "You're right...she would've had a lot of fun with us..." She muttered, her heart now hurting more than her stomache. Her eyes started to feel heavy, knowing tears were close to falling. "I miss her..."

Peridot punched Lapis in the arm for bringing up the sensitive subject and put a tender hand on Spinel's shaking arm.

"We all miss her. She had her ways of driving us nuts, but that's why we loved her. She was funny, protective of her friends. With that being said, I know she wouldn't want you crying right now. She'd want you to smile and live your life." She tried consoling.

"Easy for you to say, you've known her longer than I have! The first time I met her, I tried to kill her! I mean, yes, it was aimed at Steven, but she was in the way! I even poofed her...but somehow, in her heart..." She takes a deep breath, her voice getting shaky. "She forgave me and even tried to bond with me. When I came here crying for Steven's help, she tried to help. But I gave her the silent treatment."

"Silent treatment??" Lapis questioned. ''Why?"

She shrugged. "Senpapi told me to. He told me to play the Quiet Game, where I don't talk until he says so. Which I won, of course! I got pink roses and candy! But I couldn't help but feel like crap when Amethyst tried talking to me, but I couldn't say anything back...I could see how hurt she was. She even apologized to me, but Senpapi got mad at her-"

"What? Why?"

"She said something that made him made earlier, and he got mad then. But he got hella pissed when she came and tried to talk to me, and boy did he give her a harsh talking-to. I felt horrible, but I couldn't lose my game."

Lapis and Peridot gave questioning looks to each other.

"Then, when I failed horribly to get some warm milk, she helped me, and apologized again. But I still wasn't able to talk to her. She suggested we watch a movie to make up, and I nodded...b-but..." She wept her salty tears with her hand. "I turned around to get some movies a-and..." She couldn't even finish her sentence because then at that moment, she realized she could've prevented this. If she hadda just payed attention then Amethyst would still be alive! God she's so stupid...why did Amethyst wanna be friends with a murderer?!

Noticing she trailed off, Peri and Lapis gave her looks of sympathy, and Peridot rubbed Spinel's arm in order to comfort her. But while doing so, she thought about what had come out of her mouth. Steven? Being harsh towards Amethyst? That was practically unheard of. After all, they were like siblings! Yes, she knew siblings had their rivalries. But Steven and Amethyst were like peanut butter and jelly. They were better together than apart. So even the thought of him getting violent with her was...strange.

Lapis seemed to agree. She decided to get some facts, though chose her words carefully. "Spinel...did Steven act...well...off? Before and after the thing with Amethyst?"

She sniffed and looked off into the distance. "Well...I mean, his eyes got pink sometimes when he'd flirt with me, does that count?"

"Right...and was he like this with any of the other gems?"

"Uhm...hmm...well, not really. He'd get a little tempermental and salty with Pearl mostly."

"Huh." Was all she replied.

No one said anything for that while. Spinel took that while to get herself together and eventually her tears stopped. The wind started blowing coolly on her face, drying the places her tears used to be. It felt refreshing. She felt even better seeing that her two new friends were by her side.

Taking a deep breath, she decided it was time for her to return to Steven.

After all, he missed her.

Plus, it was getting late.

She got up and dusted herself off, still feeling the weight of all the food she'd eaten. "Well, I guess I'll see you guys later. I don't wanna keep Senpapi waiting." she explains.

"Alright, don't be a stranger!" Lapis gave her finger-guns, and Spinel giggled and gave them back. Once she had left, Lapis turned to Peridot. "Hey, Peri."

"Yeah?" She asks.

"I might totally be off base but..."

"Yes?"

"I think Steven killed Amethyst."

***

Spinel made her way to the beach house just as the stars started to come out and shine. She adored them, they reminded them vaguely of Steven's eyes. They lit her way once she started to go up the steps, though noticing some deep foot prints in the sand that looked like they used to be on fire.

"Stevie, I'm home!" She calls out a little excited to see her love once again.

However, she was met with silence and emptiness.

"Stevie?" She asks louder this time. She looks around and took note of her surroundings. Nothing was out of place. Well, nothing but a broken vase, but that was the least of her concerns. Her main concern was about how oddly quiet it was...

Oh, duh, maybe Steven's asleep! It's nighttime after all. She thought to herself and mentally slapped herself for being so forgetful. She went up to Steven's room, surprisingly not seeing him cuddled up in bed. But she did hear some water running in the bathroom next door, which gave her the answer of where he was. Senfuzzy Chulo rested on the bed, though, looking as cute as ever.

"Aww," She gushes, going over and hugging him. "Stevie left you here all alone? Gosh, he's so mean to leave someone as cute and adorable as you alone."

When saying that, a foggy mist filled the room, and when she looked to see where it came from, her jaw dropped to the floor (literally). Steven had come out with a towel around his waist, his hair dripping wet, but not as wet as your mom was last night. His torso was in clear view and it almost made her faint, especially with the package he was carrying...

Not too muscular, but enough to make her wanna run her fingers all along his abs. His figure was fit, his skin pink from the way the hot water burned it in the shower. The water droplets felt onto the floor simultaneously. All in all, Spinel felt rewarded to see such a body.

Steven took note of this and smirked. "Spinel, my eyes are up here."

"Huh?" That seemed to snap her out of her trance and her eyes quickly trailed up to his face. "Oh! Sorry!" She apologized, her face turning cerise.

Steven was amused at this. "Oh, you don't needa apologize. After all, I've been told I should consider a career in modeling." He flashed, holding up a bicep for her to admire. Spinel blushed some more, but snickered at him attempt to show off. "Anyways, how did your little playdate go with Lapis and Peridot?"

"Oh, it went just swell!" She chirped happily, excited to share the events of her day. She explained everything with glee, about the rides, the games, and all the different foods she ate. She gave many details of the day, and peaked Steven's interest when she mentioned the hot-dog eating contest.

"You won a trip to Bali?" He questioned, to which she nodded.

"Yep! Don't know what that is, but sounds fun to go to." She continues. "And 500 bucks. I think I might buy Senfuzzy Chulo a fashionable new wardrobe..."

Senfuzzy fell over from joy.

"I dunno, whaddya think, Steven?" She consulted.

Steven, who was getting his pajamas from the dresser brushed off the question with little thought. "Whatever you wanna do with it, my jester."

Spinel collapsed on the bed and whined, "But that's the thing, I dunno what to do with it!" She rolled over on her stomache and pouted while thinking attentively. "I know for a fact I'm getting designer clothing for Senfuzzy but...what am I gonna do with the rest of it?"

Ding ding, our boy had a plan.

He changed into his Pajamas, given that it was a cold and chilly night, and sat crosslegged beside Spinel on the bed. "How about this. I take you out tomorrow, with a new dress and everything." When her eyes lit up, he knew he had said the right thing. So, he continued to butter her up. "We can even go outside the city, maybe...Empire City. They're not as scared of the Diamond Killer as Beach City is, so not too many things are restricted. We'll get to do whatever you want. How does that sou-"

Before he could finish, Spinel had pounced on him, wrapping her noodly arms around his torso tightly. It caught him off gaurd, but he wasn't complaining. After all, she was so...soft. And warm. She was like bubblegum fresh from the dryer, and her scent was driving him nuts.

'Strawberry bubblegum...I wonder if she tastes as good as she smells.'

"Yes!!!" Spinel squealed, hugging him tighter to the point of nearly cutting off his air circulation. "Oh, Stevie, you have the best ideas!" She starts to pepper kisses all over his soft face, platonically of course. Steven giggled for each ticklish peck landed. Once again, he wasn't complaining.

By the time she was done, she had left dozens of kiss marks on his face. She released him excitedly and got off.

He laughs at her joy, and honestly, he himself started to feel a glimpse of happiness. To think she came here, vulnerable, anxious, begging for help and protection. But now? She was brighter than ever, happy. Seeing her happy brought warmth to his cold heart.

That is, if he even had one at this point.

He smiles at her as she grabs her silent stuffed animal and took her spot on the bed, and Steven took his. She snuggled under the covers with Senfuzzy in her arms.

"G'night, my jester." He wishes, giving her a kiss on the forehead.

"Night, Stevie." She says quietly with a smol smile. She snuggles onto his chest. "I'm so glad you're my best friend..."

'And I'm so glad you didn't notice Garnet was missing.'

***

"Wow, this place is huge!"

At around 7:40 that morning, Spinel had jumped onto Steven, begging him to hurry up and take her out. Not wanting to make her upset, he obliged to the demand, and sooner or later, he eventually brought her to the one and only Empire City Mall.

His first plan was to give her something nice to wear for this special occasion. Spinel didn't take too kindly when she asked where they were going, and his only reply being, ''It's a surprise." After all, he didn't wanna spoil anything. That and the way she pouted was so darn precious.

"This place is bigger than Beach City itself," Spinel awed at her surroundings. Everything was either embroidered with silver, gold, or white, as expected, and looked as if it were built by the Gods. However, it was nothing like the advanced architecture that decorated Homeworld. At this felt more...homey, to say the least.

Steven guided her to a store called 'Vintage Valley', which had a cutout board of a woman with golden curls, in a pink 1950's dirndl dress, holding a tray of muffins. As stereotypical as it was, Spinel thought her choice of clothing was odd for the era. She'd only seen T-shirts or Jeans, and the only dresses she'd seen most definitely didn't look like that. So she couldn't help but ask...

"Steven, why's that chick dressed so weird?"

He made himself over to a rack with various colors of puffy, vintage dresses.

"It's what they wore in the 1950's, it was normal back then." He answered casually. "That's what the store is about, selling little bits of the past."

"Oh," she replies simply, and goes over to where he was and runs her hand along the silk of a red fluffy skirt. "It's adorable, actually. As a matter of fact, I'd wear some of these."

"That's why we're here," he takes off a light pink dress decorated with a strawberry pattern. He hands it to her delicately. "Her, try this on and lemme see if I can find something else for you."

Spinel took the strawberry-printed outfit and found her way to the dressing rooms, taking her spot in an empty stall. It was a bit small for her liking, she'd admit, but then again, this was Earth. She'd definitely been on more crowded spaces on Homeworld.

Delicately, she began to undress. It felt...weird...not being in her own clothes for once. She was so used to her puffy shorts and shoulder pads that anything else seemed foreign to the pink gem. At least she was able to keep on her gloves, as far as she knew. After removing her shirt, she slipped on the sleeveless dress and felt the instant coolness it brought.

She noticed a mirror on the wall and was allowed to see herself in the new attire.

It was a snug fit on her, and now that she thought about it, she had some very tiny shoulders...

Damn, she was a toothpick.

At least Connie had some sort of meat on her.

The dress fluttered weightlessly on her knees whenever she moved.

"Wow..." She hushed to herself, seeing how different she looked. Spinel was starting to admire this new look. Maybe, just maybe, Steven would like it too.

'Golly, I hope he does...' She swoons dreamily.

**knock knock**

The sudden knocking made her jump from startlement. Trying to recover, she took a deep breath.

"Spinel, are you done?"

Steven.

"U-uh yeah, gimme a second!" She quicky composes herself and smooths the skirt of her dress before opening her door. "How do I look?"

Steven, who had at least 2 more dresses on his arm (one pale yellow and the other sparkly pink) only stared at her. Once she had stepped out and revealed herself, he had just paused in a trance. Was that a good thing? A bad thing? Did he...think she was ugly...?

"W-wow..." He stuttered. "You look so..."

Sexy, he wanted to say.

"Ugly?" Spinel looked down bashfully, her eyes started to feel pressured. Of course she looked ugly, she thought, she was wearing something...cutesy.

She then felt a gentle hand rest on her face, lifting it up. Steven was giving her a reassuring look, making her feel at ease.

"No, you're...you're beautiful." He says tenderly. "It's a nice change from that goth style you were rocking."

She feels her cheeks heat up.

"O'gosh, Steven..."

"I picked out 2 more I thought you'd like," He tells her, referring to the yellow and pink ones. "One is short-sleeved, and the other is sleeveless."

"Look at Mistah Universe, picking out women's clothing~" Spinel decided to tease him, earning a joking eyeroll in response.

"Hey, anything for my Spinel, no matter how ridiculous I look." He hands her the pink one and lifts the yellow one up for size. "Tell me, do I look fashionable or what?"

Spinel giggled and took it from him. "Maybe you should get one for ya'self." She jokes, closing herself in again. She started laughing once again whenver she heard Steven's response:

"Don't think I won't!"

***

After going shopping, Spinel had finally chosen the pink, glittery, sleeveless dress with a pattern of heart going down vertically down the skirt. She had also gotten black kitty knee-high boots, with the very top of them in the shape of a cat's ears. She also had a giant bow, same color as her dress, to compliment herself.

Steven got something for himself too: A tan casual jacket, a T-shirt with sunny words that said Happiness, and casual gray pants. He had also had the pleasure of taking his beloved to a salon, where she got her nails painted noir black, and had a new, adorable hairstyle with her hair. To her, she looked brand new. To him, she looked like the perfect queen of Homeworld.

Which she'd be soon, if he got lucky.

Afterwards, he had took her out of the mall and to a place she'd never knew existed, and also explained why he decided to take her to Vintage Valley in the first place; A Malt Shop.

She had to admit, it looked really cutesy. Malt Shop Memories, she thinks it was called. The walls were a baby pink with magenta-and-white checkerboard tile. The counter was white with a checker pattern at the bottom, and the seats were cerise and heart-shaped. It wasn't too crowded, but had a decent amount of customers.

"Steven, what's a malt shop?" She inquired.

"Oh, it's basically a soda place. You get root beer, soda pops, anything in that category really." He takes a look at the menu above them. "Spinel, do you have your prize money?"

She nods, handing the remaining $280 left to him.

"Alright, how about you pick something out for us? This is about you, after all." He offers.

Really, she gets to pick what she wanted even if she didn't have a clue what a 'malt' was? Man, Steven was the bestest friend she could ever have.

She looks up at the menu, studying it carefully. "Hmm...how about...the nachos? No! The onion rings...no! A...sundae? No wait-"

Ergh...there's so many choices!

"Well," the brunette waitress started in as she saw how the young gem was struggling. "Seeing as you're a couple, we have a special with the chocolate malted cherry float. One drink, Two straws."

Couple? She mentally questioned. Were she and Steven a couple?

Huh.

"Sounds great!" Steven smiled happily and puts an arm on Spinel's waist, pulling her close. "Doesn't that sound good, sweetie?"

She nods. After all, she'd never tried a malt or whatever it was before.

The waitress kindly writes it down and beams at them. "Alright then, $5.99 total, and I'll be back with you soon, lovebirds." She then winks at Steven. "Your girlfriend's lovely. Take care of her."

"Oh believe me, I do." He smirks, knowing the double meaning behind his answer. He and Spinel took a seat by the window, where they had a spectacular view of the city.

"Steven."

"Yes?"

"Am I your girlfriend?" Spinel asked innocently, tilting her head. She leans her elbows on the pastel table.

Steven took his time answering this. He wanted her to be his girlfriend.

No, not a girlfriend.

His wife.

He wanted her to be his wife, his love, his queen. But she was so naive, so innocent, that she didn't understand the concept of marriage. At least, he didn't think she did. Though that did spark a thought; were they a couple, or were they just friends at the moment?

"Do you wanna be my girlfriend?" He decided to ask her.

"Aahhh..." She thinks, twirling a finger in her straight hair. "Maybe? I don't know. I don't even know what a girlfriend does."

"A girlfriend...doesn't really have a set of specific rules. You stay loyal to your significant other, make them happy, spend time with them, go on dates. Same thing goes with the one you're dating." He explains.

"Oh, well...do I make you happy?"

"Of course. Always.

"And we spend time with each other, and go on dates."

"Uh huh."

"So..." Her magenta beady eyes looked straight into his. "That means...I'm your girlfriend, ain't I?"

He wishes, but maybe there was a way...

"Maybe you are." He says softly, smiling. That was such a nice thought. Spinel, his girlfriend. His new girlfriend Spinel...

Maybe then she'll be willing to marry him.

"Wow...that sounds...nice, actually." She concludes.

However, that was all she concluded. She never said if she wanted to be his girlfriend or not, and that saddened him.

"Alright, you two!" A western accent rang beside them. The waitress put down a large chocolate malted cherry float in the center between them, and puts in two straws; both striped. Steven gives her the cash. "Have fun! If you need anything else, I'll be right over there at that counter, ya hear?"

When they both nod understandingly, the waitress, on her skates, rolled back behind the counter where she was before and starts conversating with an elderly couple.

Spinel took a sip from the float, finding it strange that they only got one for the two of them. But she also thought it was so romantic...her and her Stevie, sharing a float. And she had to admit, it tasted marvelous. The way the chocolate and cherry she was familiar with clashed together brought her to paradise.

"Mmm~!" She hums as she drinks some more.

"Come on, don't steal it all!" Steven chuckles, drinking some himself. He too enjoyed the unfamiliar treat.

"But it's so delicious!"

Just like you...~ Steven thinks pervertedly to himself, unvoluntarily licking his bottom lip.

"That, I can't argue with." He agrees.

They held up conversation for a while, mostly about the wonders of Delmarva, Empire City, why Donald Trump is still alive. That kind of thing.

But then, Spinel brought up a conversation that he thought he'd never have to talk about.

"I do wonder what happened to Garnet...I haven't seen her lately. Not since I left with Lapis and Peridot."

Oh damn oh damn oh damn-

"Um, I dunno, actually." He lies, nervously sipping on the drink. "Maybe she went off to grief, or somewhere to concentrate on her vision. Who knows?"

"Oh, I hope she's ok..."

Trust, she's just dandy.

"Yeah, I do too." He fibbed. That left a bad taste on his tongue, but whatever he needed to do. After all, he didn't wanna scare off his stretchy little jester. Spinel then reached at the delicious drink, sliding it over to herself so she could have it. So much for sharing, he supposed, not that he minded. She deserved all the malt floats in the world.

Slurrrp~!

"Yum!" She sighs, finishing it off. She lets out a cute burp, to which she covered her mouth with embarassment. "Oops!"

"Aww, it's alright, munchkin." He brushes off, thinking it was cute. "I'll go get us another one, wait here."

He leaves her alone and heads back to the waitress, who was cleaning leftovers from a glass. She quickly notices him and smiles that familiar beamy grin. "Why, hello! Need somethin', sugar?" She had asked.

"Mhm. I just need another float," He explains, lending her another few dollars. She happily puts it in the tip jar and goes to the soda machine behind them, filling a large cup completely, topping it with whipped cream and a cherry on top. She slides it to his direction.

"There you go, sweetheart."

"Thanks, miss." He thanks her and takes the malt float. "Appreciate it!"

"Right..." Her smile falls. "Hey, are you her boyfriend? Or are ya'll just regula' friends?"

"Uhm, I'm her boyfriend." He states, though unsure himself. "You said that, remember?"

"Right, right."

"Why?"

"Then whose she flirtin' with ov'a there? Or, well, whose that flirtin' wit' her?"

...What?!

He quickly looks behind him and anger fills his heart; Spinel wasn't alone anymore. She'd been accompanied by a guy he was all too familiar with.

Ronaldo.

He wouldn't call it flirting, actually. Just...being his actual weird self. But that's what pissed him off: Ronaldo was big into supernatural creatures, he knew, and Spinel was just the definition of that. She was an alien. A pink one at that. PeeDee was there too, but he was coming over to order, he had only waved at Spinel and she waved back.

Ronaldo was in for it.

However, he grinned and beared it. "Oh, it's alright. He's a friend of mine, we wouldn't flirt with her..." He smiled innocently at her, and once she looks convinced, she went back to her job and took PeeDee's order. Steven on the other hand clenched his free fist and made his way back to his beloved.

Ronaldo was sitting on the other side of Spinel, looking curiously at her with a notepad, eyes squinted. "So, you're the infamous Spinel that tried destroying out beloved, green planet, hmmmmm?" He interrogated, to which Spinel shuffled in her seat.

"Y-yes, unfortunately. But I'm like that anymore."

"Uh huh. What exactly are your motives now? Are you apart of the Crystal gems?"

Spinel was obviously uncomfortable.

"Uh...I'm not. I'm just here to spend time with Stevie."

"In other words, you're here hypnotize him with your powers and take him off to Homeworld?" He got uncomfortably close to her, and she gulped, not wanting to answer. "Aha! Silence means guilt!"

"No, it means she doesn't wanna answer, Ron." Steven intervened before the situation escalated. Ronaldo instantly got up from his seat.

"Ah, well, if it isn't Steven The Savior Universe. Haven't seen you around, buddy." He greeted casually. "Thought you went off to explore the country."

"I did." He puts the float on the table. "But I'm back now."

"Well how was it?"

"Fine. Just like our date was going fine, splendid even." Steven says as calmly as he could. "Whaddya doin' here, away from Beach Citywalk Fries?"

"Honestly, dad met a chick from here he wanted us to meet, turned out she was a yappermouth, yadda yadda, we got tired of hearing about her trip to Argentina and came here to get away from it." Ronaldo explained, showing disinterest in the woman.

"I'm sure none of this involved talking to my Spinel."

Ronaldo scoffs. "Your Spinel?"

Steven then steps close to him. "Yes. My Spinel." He challenges as tension starts to rise between them. Spinel remained silent all the while.

"What is she, your property?" Ronaldo questions, getting to him. "I thought the whole point of you being here was to let gems be independant of themselves.  Now you're making one of them your property."

"Ok, and?" Steven huffs at him. "She's free to be as independant as she wants, I would NEVER get in the way of that. But today? She's with me, Fryman. Not you. So how bout your bounce your greasy ass back to wherever you came from and start making clickbait YouTube videos like you've been doing, hm?" He hissed, getting pissed off.

Ronaldo, who was actually just joking with him, put his hands up in defense. "Wow man. I was just joking ya, you know?"

Steven clenches his fist. "I don't joke when it comes around to my Spinel."

" 'My Spinel'. She's not yours, man. Sorry to break it to you. She's not an object."

Techincally...she's a rock and rocks are objects so...

"And besides, who said she wanted to be yours anyways?" Ronaldo ranted on and on. "She probably wants to be someone else's. Maybe she wants to be White Diamond's. Maybe she wants to be mine-"

That's when he struck a nerve. Steven let his emotions take over, clenching his fists tightly, then jumping on top of him. This resulted in Ronaldo landing hard, making a painful THUD sound once he his the ground.

"Steven!!" Spinel screamed in fear, indecisive. Was she supposed to stop him? Would he even let her?

"Oh crap oh crap oh crap-" PeeDee was also panicking, seeing his own brother being toppled by a powerful hybrid. He tries to grab Steven, to stop him. He turns to Spinel. "Hello, powerful gem, care to help me?!"

"O-oh!" Spinel wrapped her arms around him, but Steven pushed her back with such force that she bumped into another table, shaking it horribly. "Ergh..."

Steven wasn't holding back; each punch seemed to get stronger, and Ronaldo's face seemed to get bloodier. He tries, he really was, to stop Steven, but for each attempt he did, his nose got hit even more.

"Steven, come on man, this isn't you!" PeeDee attempted to console the hybrid. "My brother's an idiot, you know that!!"

The waitress hears Ronaldo's cries for help and starts dialing 911.

Spinel rubbed her head; that push gave her a headache. But she couldn't bear to see Ronaldo get abused like this. She needed to act. After all, she's the reason this whole mess happened.

"Please Steven..." She pleaded. PeeDee had been knocked against the wall. It was her turn to take his place, grabbing ahold of his arms and pulling him. "Steven! Please! Get off!"

Blinded by anger, Steven pushed her off, violently to the point she collided into another table.

This time, she was unconscious.

Steven was sweating like a bat out of hell. He looked down at his knuckles.

They were bloody, bruised.

Just like Ronaldo.

He eventually gets off of him, as he was also unconscious from the beating. But he got what he deserved, bad-mouthing Spinel. He deserved every single cell beaten out of him.

PeeDee runs over to his brother. "Ronaldo, man! Come on! Get up!" He puts a hand on his chest, relieved to see he wasn't dead. "It's alright man, the cute waitress called the ambulance..."

And the police, Steven thinks.

Without saying anything, he picks up the knocked out Spinel, and drives her home.

***

Pearl was resting on the sofa when Steven returned, and was shocked to see a passed out Spinel in his arms.

"Steven?" She panicks, running over to check his face. "Wh-what happened?! Are you hurt?! Who did you fight?!" She interrogates in the only way she could. She looks down at his bloody and bruised knuckles. "Oh my God...Steven, what happened!?"

Calmly, he states, "It's alright, Pearl."

Well, now it was.

"No no no, lemme tend to your hands, th-they're...-"

"I know, don't worry." He tells her, calmly going to the stairs. "I'm gonna take Spinel to bed. I can heal myself, remember?"

"B-but-"

"Pearl, it's ok. I promise. She just needs some rest for now." He reassures her. This seems to get her quiet.

Steven carries Spinel to their bedroom, placing her on the bed and covering her for warmth. He removes her headband and sets it aside. There was a tiny bruise under her eye, from where he'd hit her.

He kissed it, and it healed, as expected.

"Sweet dreams, my Spinel." He thinks out loud, then healing his own wounds. He then looks out the window.

"Tomorrow, you won't have to worry about those Diamonds anymore."
