Chapter XI

So. Maisy. Turns out she'd left Morgan four years ago when he moved in to this place, and had never contacted him since. I was sitting at the table playing my food listening to her explain what she'd been doing to Morgan.
"And so I was picked up off the streets by this man, his name was Roman, and he was so perfect until a week ago, when he dumped me. He bought me pretty dresses and gave me everything I asked for. And then he pushed me out the door one day and said, 'Sorry. You're not the one. She has two brothers.' And that's why I'm here," she said.
"So basically you ditched your brother, then you were spoiled by the man who ruined my life and tried to abduct me. Well that's a lovely picture, isn't it, Morgan?" I asked, finally looking up at him. He dropped his fork, staring.
"Well that was rude," Maisy commented.
I snorted. "Well excuse me. I ain't understandin' your high society etiquette. After all, I was raised in a tavern, swiggin' whiskey 'gainst Darius Hook to make a little extra koin. Headin' a gang to survive. But then, you probably cain't take a shot anyway. What was my record again, Kamil?"
"Sixty-four and you were conscious. Seventy-one and you passed out. Killer hangovers, too," he responded, picking at his food.
"Ah yes." I heard Maisy choke.
"Moon, why are you talking to my sister like that?" Morgan asked a little too confidently.
"Because she's a fucking bitch and she treats me like dirt." Maisy gasped. "She don't give a damn 'bout you either, so shut your pothole. She ditched you for Roman. Roman. You know, the one prophetized to find me and kill me or whatever? Yeah that one. So I thought you liked me, but apparently not. And now you're back to the beginning, again, because just as I was beginning to trust you again, you tore me apart again by siding with your asshole of a sister. Goodbye, M, I'm going to sit with Angel, oh yes, because you shot him when my boys finally found me. Have a good night with your bitchy sis."
And with that I stood and left, jogging up the stairs. I walking into the twins's room and sat in the chair next to Angel's bed and took his hand, leaning back and holding against my chest as he slept. Eleven curled up by my feet, snoring peacefully moments later.
"Please wake up Angel. Kamil can't lose you, not after yer mama and Trevor. Yer papa don't want y'all no more, so you're all he's got besides me. And anyway, I'm not worth anythin'." I spoke softly, running my thumb slowly across his hand.
The door creaked open and I turned to find a fist in my mouth.
