"I think I can help. You need to get somewhere?"
First day of high school was nerve-wracking.
"I'm leaving, now." I called to my parents, but they just kept their attention on daily tasks; looking at the newspaper, or cleaning the kitchen after breakfast. My brother gurgled a goodbye from his high chair, which was greatly appreciated to settle my nerves.
Without a second thought, I stepped through my portal and ended up a block away from the gates.
Oops. I meant to just portal to the gates.
"Heheh, Uh, whoops." Mumbled under my breath at the silly mistake.
Even a block away, The path is crowded with students in grey suit jackets and red ties. Instead of making another portal, I just allow myself to get swept away by the current of students. Once inside the gates of U.A., I glanced up at the giant doors. There were numbers 1-3 on them, and I can only guess, that since I am in class 1-C, I go through the door with a 1.
I slipped through with a large crowd, and began roaming the ginormous hallways. Large windows lined one side, while the other was ginormous doors going into what I assumed were classrooms.
"Where is 1-C?" I mumbled to myself; kinda like I was venting my frustration. I probably look like an idiot, not knowing where my classroom is. I know there was a day where incoming students could go to U.A. and get the layout of the school, but I was too busy doing the chores around the house. Now I regret my decision.
"Oi, Tanabara Haru." I jumped at the sound of my name, and turned to the owner of the voice, hoping it wasn't someone I had pissed off or anything.
Thankfully, it was someone I knew!
"Shinsou Hitoshi!" I rushed over to pull him into a death hug. My nerves finally began to calm down instead of being like WOOSH! And KAPLOWZA! "I'm so glad I found someone I know! Now, help me find 1-C!"
"Well then, you'll absolutely love this fact;" he grinned at me.
"What?" Now I was curious. He whipped out a piece of paper that was similar to the one I got in the mail along with the hologram video. The class says...1-C!
"I am in your class." He has an easy smile on his face, while I think my actions spoke for both of us. I squealed, jumped up and down, and even, by accident, made a portal under my feet which opened up on the ceiling.
"Heh," I let out a small shy laugh once I hit the floor. "That happens sometimes when I'm excited."
"No harm. I'm glad I have someone I'll be able to talk to in my class." He shrugged, and we headed off to find 1-C. Now that I was with someone I am acquainted (well, more than the rest of the incoming students) I began to ask questions about his junior high, and what made him want to enroll in U.A.
He said nobody trusted him when he was in school because of his Quirk, and so he was mostly alone and isolated from everyone in his last class. Though he suffered such isolation, it's amazing how determined he is to show everyone he will become a hero, and not a villain! I made a mental note to give anyone a beat down if they dare believe Hitoshi would use his powers like that. Unacceptable!
"My quirk manifested at home, with my mother." He recalled the memory, opening the classroom door to 1-C as well. "I wanted to go to MacDonald's for some food, but she said "no", I whined for awhile, then, suddenly, she told me to get in the car, and that's how I got my Chicken Nuggets." He held his arms out like 'tada!'
"Whoa, that's a great story!" I giggled. If only I could make my parents do something like that for me.
"So when did your Quirk first manifest?" He asked, taking the seat furthest away from the windows. I, naturally, took a seat in the second row next to him.
"Hm..well, surprisingly, it's a funny story even without my Quirk. It was the time I almost died when I was five. Strange. Who would've known that's when my Quirk decided to kick in and save my 'the-street-is-the-perfect-place-to-play' ass."
"You almost died while playing in the road?!?" Hitoshi raised his eyebrows. I let out a laugh, and nodded.
"My parents are people who believe you should learn right from wrong by yourself."
"That's a bit extreme for a young child."
"Well, I can't see who I'd be without that kind of teaching." I shrugged. "Who knows what I'd be like. Kind? Annoying? An absolute prick?"
"I think you're perfect just the way you are." Hitoshi laughed, which sounded weird coming from a boy that looks like he got -3 hours of sleep. I put a hand on my cheek to feel warmth. Oh god I'm blushing.
"Thanks.." I murmured between my fingers.
"Alright, class. Settle down." The teacher entered, and our attention was focused on self-introductions, and whatnot.
God, this is boring for a hero school.
~*~
"Finally FREE!" I cheered, hopping out of my seat as our last class ended. The day was boring and filled with boring normal school activities.
"You can't sit still for five minutes, can you?" Hitoshi stood up as well. He picked up his bag, and waited for me at the door.
"Of course not! Too many things are new, I wanna see them all!" I grabbed his hand and raced out into the hallways packed with General Course students. "I mean, this is where we will be spending the most important three years of our life!"
"You make it sound a lot cooler than it actually is." I heard the purple head mutter from behind me. Nonetheless, he accompanied me around the giant campus for hours.
There was a giant courtyard that can be entered through the cafeteria. There were numerous places that were off limits to us; those places were only for Hero Course students.
"Walking down the hall!~" I sang as I slipped down another long hallway. I was just so amazed how U.A. was so big.
"Be careful, you're going to fall if you keep doing that." Hitoshi warned.
"Oh please, I kno-" with that, I felt my back slam into something hard. I lost balance, and right before I hit the ground, I opened a portal to put me back on my feet. Stumbling, I looked up to apologize to whomever I bumped into.
"I'm sor-"
"THAT'S RIGHT, EXTRA. YOU BETTER BE SORRY!" The blonde yelled directly in my face. Squeaking was the only noise I could muster back at him as he pushed me aside by force. I stumbled, But was able to keep my balance. Gosh, what an asshole.
So I may or may not have opened up a portal right in front of him so he walked into the wall instead of forward. Heheheheheheh....😎
"WHAT THE FUCK?" He screamed at the wall he just slammed into. I mustered all of my energy to not laugh at his dumb face, but I could see Hitoshi laughing his ass off.
"Gosh, I would've warned you about slamming your face into the wall, but I'm just an extra in whatever horrible stand-up comedy show you're trying out!" I gave a sarcastic half bow, Hitoshi still snickering from behind me. He didn't like that. The blonde man exploded.
Literally.
"I suggest you stay out of my way." He was in my personal bubble now; getting closer to my face like he was mapping my appearance.
"But you're going that way." I pointed behind him. Oh geez, I am really pushing it now, aren't I? He gave me a nasty glare, but turned his back to me and left in a hurry.
I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding.
"Well, that was an interesting meeting with Katsuki Bakugou." Hitoshi stated.
"You could say that again. More like Bakubitch." I agreed.
The day ended with the two of us finishing our exploration and taking the train back home. It was great to get to know him more as a person, and I think he feels the same.
Hitoshi was constantly assuring me that he was not mind controlling me at all; which put a damper to a few of our conversations until he understood I didn't care about his quirk.
"I trust you, Hitoshi. You were born with this amazing quirk to help others. I know you'll use it for good! I am always optimistic!" I shook his shoulders as the action raised a smile out of him.
He's just a tool for you to use.
The Voice was back, and as annoying as ever.
You know as well as I that his power is only good for fear and destruction. You're using him to further your career as a hero.
Shut the hell up! No I am not, and this cinnamon roll is not a tool to be used by ANYONE!
"Um, Haru? You awake?" Hitoshi tapped my shoulder, and I was startled out of my conversation with The Voice.
"Oh, yeah! I guess I was really deep in thought." I laughed a little.
The train sputtered to a halt, and the doors opened. Hitoshi and I followed the natural flow of people out of the train station. We walked down the sidewalk and talked about a thousand things as we made our way home.
"Is this your house?" He pointed towards my quaint, little, white house.
"Yeah!" I grinned, using my free hand to unlatch the gate. "It's not much, but I couldn't ask for more!"
And they wouldn't give you any more even if you asked for it.
I bit back a grimace at The Voice as I watched Hitoshi disappear out of my sight. But I knew full well that I would see him the next day.
Hello!
