His Dark Side
I walked into the host club after changing back into my school uniform. The dress felt uncomfortable, and I wanted to go back to wearing my comfortable clothes. I walked in and saw Tamaki crouching on the floor and rolling a ball around with his finger. The others were looking at him, and I knew he would use those puppy dog eyes to convince them to help the newspaper club. I walked to the kitchen and grabbed the books that I left in there earlier. I set my textbook on one of the tables and opened it to see my math work wasn't finished. I started working on the equations while I waited for Tamaki's trick to work. It didn't take long for everyone to fall under Tamaki's gaze.
" There will be some conditions. The outline for their article will be submitted by us. Interviews are strictly prohibited and it is vital that our client's identities be kept confidential. Do we agree? "
" Well, if you think it's cool Kyoya then we do too. " The twins said, stuffing their hands in their pockets.
" I'll do it if Kyo~Chan says it's okay. " Honey said, eating a piece of cake.
Tamaki stood up and cheered. I was hugged from behind, and I realized it was Tamaki hugging me.
" Why are you hugging me? "
" Because I'm so happy! "
" Shouldn't you be hugging one of the twins or Haruhi? They're the ones that really were involved here, not me. "
" But I want to hug you. "
" Fine, just don't make my hand move as I'm working. "
( The Next Day )
' So, the square root of 95 is 9.746 ane when you round it the new answer will be 9.7. Alright, that's all my math. '
The breeze blew by, and it swept my hair up. It was a nice day outside, and today we were taking a break from hosting so the newspaper club could write their articles. Though, they did look confused at what the other hosts were doing. Tamaki was playing a game of red light green light with the other hosts while I worked on homework.
" You looked shocked. Do you know what this game is? "
" No, I do not. " The president said, gritting his teeth.
" It's basically red light green light. When he turns his back you can walk forward but when he turns around you have to stop. If you don't you have to start all over again. "
" And what does this have to do with our coverage of the host club? "
" To teach you guys friendliness. "
All three of the members looked even more shocked, and I continued to explain to them the reason. I stood up from the soft grass and faced the while holding my textbook.
" Tamaki said that the only way for you guys to clean your reputation is to be friendly. And in his words, 'In order to capture the hearts of their readers, they must try to be more down-to-earth.' So he wants to show you guys friendliness. "
The president eyes me for a moment before opening his little black pocketbook.
" You're Y/n right? "
" Yeah that's my name, but I thought you knew that. "
" I'm not too good with names. I have to write them down and if I don't, I forget. Would you mind if I asked you a few questions? "
" I don't think I should. "
" Oh, please they're a few small questions. "
" Alright then. I guess it would be fine. "
" So, the first question, you and Suho look very close what is your relationship? "
" We're friends. "
" What was the reason you joined the host club? "
" Well, I didn't know where to go and I found myself in music room 3. They mentioned how they needed someone to help bake the goods so they don't have to spend so much money on the baked goods as a whole. "
" If you would tell me all about Tamaki's dark side. "
" Sorry, but Tamaki doesn't really have a dark side. He's very cheerful and I don't think I've ever seen his dark side. He always wants those around him to smile and be happy. Even if that means he is making a fool of himself. He just wants to protect those he has close. "
" That can't be right you expect me to believe a group of high schoolers actually enjoy playing these childish games? "
" I don't think it's weird. Tamaki just has a fun personality and he enjoys playing games like these. One time we even played a game of tag for the whole host club time. "
" You have got to be kidding me! "
" Next we're playing can-keri. Y/n do you want to play this time? " Tamaki asked.
" Sure. "
I left the president and joined the others.
" Kyoya you're it. "
" If I must. "
" Starlight kick! "
Tamaki kicked the can, and I could see it fly past the president of the newspaper club. I laughed as it hit him after hitting the other trees.
" Y/n, come with me. Run. "
Tamaki grabbed my hand, and we started running into the rose maze. He was smiling and laughing, and it made my own smile appear. We ran further into the maze, taking turns here and there until Tamaki stopped. He was looking around the walls of roses, and I realized that he was lost.
" Tamaki, did you get us lost? "
" No! "
" You did. "
" Look, Y/n I found a great hiding place! "
I walked further towards him and saw a gazebo that was covered in roses. The walls surrounded the sides and back of it while the vines covered the top with their red roses decorating it. Tamaki sat down and pulled me to it beside him in the gazebo.
" You're having fun, aren't you? "
" Yeah, these games are just new to me and it makes me excited to play them. When I was growing up I never really had any friends that were my age. My mother would get sick very easily. I was always worried about her so I didn't go out and play much. Instead, I would do my best to cheer her up. I'd always sit beside her and play the piano. That's probably why now I love playing these silly games with all of you. It's a lot of fun. "
" I'm glad, you're having fun, Tamaki. I can tell you I had the same experience. I never had friends either. I was always focused on my studies so I never made time to make friends my age. That's why I was so worried about Gen because she's the only friend I've ever had until I met you guys. "
" How is she doing? "
" She's...doing okay. Some of her wounds are gone, but she hasn't woken up yet. "
" I'm sure she'll wake up anytime now. It's just a matter of when, princess. "
I could feel Tamaki's hand as he placed it on my head. I looked over at him, and he was smiling a soft smile towards me. I showed him a small smile in return.
" Thanks, Tamaki. I'm glad I have you and the other hosts. It's much better than being alone. "
" I'll make sure you're never alone again, princess. You'll always have me by your side, I'm not going anywhere. "
With those words, I leaned over and hugged Tamaki. I felt his arms wrap around me, and hug me to him. The hug was warm, and I could feel a fuzzy feeling in my chest.
" Thank you, Tamaki. You mean a lot to me. More than I show. "
" And you mean a lot to me too, princess. "
The fuzzy feeling started to increase, and I felt my cheeks heated up. I knew it was my crush becoming something more because my heart was pounding in my ears, and I felt like I was going to overheat.
" I found you. "
I looked at the entrance of the gazebo and saw Kyoya with the other hosts. The newspaper club, however, was nowhere in sight.
" They had to cancel. Something came up. They said they were going to focus on writing respectable articles. "
" So maybe they can get by before being shut down. " The twins said.
I scooted out of the gondola with Tamaki behind me. We started walking with the hosts out of the garden and continued our conversation.
" Oh, really? That's good news. " Tamaki said.
" Let's hurry back to the club room and eat some cake. " Honey said from Mori's shoulders.
" Yeah. " or said with his deep voice.
' I think that was the only word I've ever heard Mori say. '
" That does sound good. Cake. Cake. Cake. " Tamaki cheered.
I looked over at the blonde and smiled, seeing him excited yet tired. The fuzzy feeling in your chest getting bigger.
