Chapter 6: Part 1

Alex POV-

It has been around a month since I met Jefferson. My bruises and cuts have already healed. At least, on the day of the fight. Every day, Jefferson and I get into fights, verbally or physically.

I guess, Angelica was right. My friends helped me recover. But John helped me in every fight. I was grateful to have him by my side.

I was walking to Debate Club. It was the fifth meeting already. Mr. Washington said Sea-burrito and I had a debate about Thayne Jasperson's thoughts of the Continental Congress in the 1770s. Sure, he was pretty upset about our orders last time, but I managed to get along with him in some classes and here in Debate Club. Let's say we formed... frenemies. But more on the friend side. I still tease him, though, with Sea-burrito.

I entered the classroom we were using. I saw a few members, like Burr, Charles Lee, and Sam. I took a seat beside Sam and asked him about the debate, "Hi, Sea-burrito. How you doing with your...uh, script" I looked down and saw the paper scroll he was holding. It had to be a few meters long.

"Alex, for the last time, don't call me Sea-burrito. It's either Sam or Samuel. And, I'm pretty proud of my script. It's longer than yours- wait, you don't have a script, "Sam noticed.

"Wait and see, Sam. I'll go with the flow," I grinned.

"Yeah, alright. See you on the stage"

Mr. Washington entered the room and we all clammed up. A flood of students followed him. He said, "Settle down, everyone. Seabury, Hamilton, on the stage, please. Hm ...Aaron, Lee, please keep these two from fighting" Washington let Burr beside me and Lee on the other side.

Both of us rose up from our seats and walked onto the stage. Mr. Washington said, "Samuel, you have the floor"

Sam nodded.

He...sang?

"Hear ye, hear ye my name is Samuel Seabury and I present free thoughts on the proceedings of the continental congress. Heed not the rabbles who scream revolution. They have not your interests at heart"

Sure, his voice sounds great. But I couldn't agree with him, ever. Just like this random person from class who muttered, "Oh my God tear this dude apart"

Seabury looked at him, clearly annoyed. He continued,

"Chaos and bloodshed are not a solution. Don't let them lead you astray...This congress does not speak for me"

I was about to interrupt when Burr-ito number 2 pulled me back, "Let him be."

"They're playing a dangerous game. I pray the king shows you his mercy. For shame, for shame!"

I couldn't take it anymore,

"Yo!"

"Heed not the rabble who-"he was cut off by me.

"He'd have you unravel at the sound of screams-"

He continued, "Scream-"

I complained," But the revolution-"

"Revolution-"

"Is coming-", I exclaimed.

"They have not your interests-"

"The have-nots are gonna win this"

He still continued, "At heart-"

"It's hard to listen to you with a straight face!" I joked.

"Chaos-", he sang, annoyed.

"Chaos and bloodshed-", I said, flinging my arms to the air.

"Bloodshed are not-!" he growled.

"Already hunt us!"

"A solution" he said. Well, sorry, but it fucking is!

"Honestly, you shouldn't even talk-", his voice was getting me frustrated so bad.

"Don't let the lead you astray"

"And what about Boston? Look at the cost and all that we've lost and you talk about Congress?" I raised my eye brow.

"The Congress does not speak for me!"

"My dog speaks more eloquently than thee" I placed my hand over my heart.

"You're playing a dangerous game"

"But strangely, your mange is the same", I laughed.

"I pray the king shows you his mercy"

"Is he in Jersey?" I asked innocently.

"For shame! ", he sang.

"For the Revolution!"

"For shame!"

"For the Revolution!" the whole class got into my side.

"Heed-"

"If you repeat yourself again I'm gonna-"

"Scream!" we screeched in unison.

"Honestly, look at me, please don't read! " , I mean, it's rude if you don't look to the person you're talking to. Right?

"Not your interest" he crossed his arms, dropping his script.

"Don't modulate the key then not debate with me! Why should a tiny island across the sea regulate the price of tea?" I ended. Samuel looked utterly defeated. I walked over to him, "Not bad, burrito"

He gave me a frown but it turned to a smile. "Stop calling me anything that has to do with burritos! Anyways, congrats. It's clear you have Mr. Washington's vote." How on earth does he change emotions that quick?

I grinned, "Thanks"

And with that the bell rang.

A/N: Okay, I'm sorry this is short. I just really wanted an update. I might upload Part 2 of this chapter later. 'Til next time!
