Chapter 46
I am so sorry for not updating!
I have no idea how weddings work.

"I now pronounce you husband and wife!"
A round of applause erupted from everyone. The two fiancés were now married.
Aaron and Theodosia smiled, their eyes watery, and kissed as the people seated were now giving a standing ovation.
Eliza, the maid of honor, was crying on Sally's shoulder. Aaron's best man, who was oddly Hercules, was squealing with Peggy and Lafayette.
"LET'S PARTY!" Peggy screamed, after they took the pictorial.
John sighed and looked across the room to see Alex, talking with the newly wedded couple. He seemed happy, but he still wasn't the normal self he used to be.
John frowned.
He still loved him.
Even if things changed, he still did.
No one really told Alex that he and John used to date.
Actually, John never knew if they even officially broken.
Francis noticed John frowning and staring at Alexander.
"Hey," He said, startling John. "Sorry, are you alright?"
He chuckled sadly, "Yeah, I'm fine. I just miss Alex, that's all."
"We'll help you. It's been one month, the doctor said about a year. We'll help you, 'kay?"
"Okay." John mumbled, and hugging Francis.
Question is: will things ever go back to normal?
~~×~~
"IT'S TIME TO SLICE THE CAKE!" Angelica yelled.
They were already at the reception. Not much people came to the wedding. Only friends, family, and neighbors.
Burr and Theodosia walked towards the cake, hand in hand, and got the knife. Both of them slowly cut the first slice of their beautiful wedding cake made by Eliza.
The crowd cheered and clapped. Then, John stood up from his chair and smiled, raising his glass of champagne.
"Alright, alright. That's what I'm talking about!" He grinned. "Now everyone, our maid of honor, Elizabeth Schuyler!"
"No need to be so formal, John." She chuckled, standing up and raising her own glass as John sat back down.
"I want to wish you two a happy life, and I hope you'll be able to stick together till the very end. To the newly wedded couple everyone!"
"Now," Angelica clasped her hands. "Will anyone, you know, propose?"
The crowd stayed silent. Nobody moved.
John fumbled in his pocket and squeezed the black velvet box that was supposedly for Alexander.
He couldn't.
Alexander changed.
He sighed, propping his elbow on the table and leaning his head against his fist.
"No one? Alright then." She muttered.
Later, it was time for the bride to throw the flowers and the groom to throw the wedding garter.
"Traditionally, whoever gets them will get married next. Though, we don't really follow it." Aaron said.
"Like matchmaking." Theo chirped.
So, a bunch of people from the reception stood up and decided to try and catch the garter for the boys and the bouquet for girls. Even Alex decided to see where his fate will end him.
John stood at the corner, scowling at the girls excited to catch the bouquet, exceptions being Eliza and Peggy.
He had given up already.
He gave up on love at the end of high school.
Alex made him decide to try it once more.
Just one chance.
He only loved Alex, as you probably know. And only him.
And Aaron threw the garter backwards and it landed on a certain someone.
"I GOT IT!" Alexander shouted, waving the garter in the air.
John perked up, shocked.
Sure, he already lost Alex, sort of.
But seeing him with someone else would be unbearable.
"My turn!" Theo laughed and threw the bouquet as hard as she could.
Theodosia was amazing at volleyball.
And it seemed like she proved it at her wedding.
The bouquet flew across the room to John's corner. It fell right on his hands.
What a coincidence.
John felt all eyes staring on him.
He was staring at the bouquet in his hand.
He frowned, bit his lip to try not to cry, and went outside the reception room.
He went out into open grounds and breathe in the fresh air.
He found a nearby tree and sat beside it.
Why can't everything be alright?
Why does everything have to go wrong?
Why is life so damn hard-?
"John? Are you okay?"
John looked up to see Alex towering over him, as he was standing up, and looking worried.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine.." He whispered.
"Are you sure? You've been crying.."
"I have?" John asked, touching his wet cheeks.
"Yep," Alex frowned, sitting beside him. "I'll say it again, are you alright?"
He sighed, "No..no, not gonna lie." He chuckled softly.
"Well, why not?"
"No one ever told you your past life, right?" John mumbled, looking at Alex.
"No one did," Alex replied. "Though, I am pretty curious."
"Alright," John took a deep breath. "I'll tell you."
~~×~~
"Well, I had a pretty tough childhood..." Alex muttered, after John told him about the hurricane.
"Yeah."
"So, what comes next?"
"You rode a plane to New York, supposedly." John continued.
"Supposedly?"
"There was a thunderstorm on your route so the plane had to land at South Carolina, where I live."
"I thought you lived in New York." Alex said, getting confused.
"I do. That was before. I moved to New York - that's for another story. And then well, I met you, or you met me, oh who knows maybe both, just we met each other at the plane. We didn't know we'd go to the same college."
"That's pretty coincidental." He said.
"Yeah, because apparently that's how the author wanted us to meet." John grumbled. "Up in the sky."
"The author...?"
"We're in a fricking fanfic."
"Fanfic?" He wondered. "Oh."
"Yeah, the wall doesn't exist."
"It doesn't?" Alex smiled. "Hi."
"Who are you talking to?"
"The readers, of course!"
"Oh." John chuckled.
"So, what's next?"
"We separated ways, then we meet again in college. Fluff, a bit of angst since Jefferson came—"
"I thought he was your friend?"
"Yeah, but we used to be enemies."
"I knew there was something fishy about him..." Alex mumbled.
"Yeah, anyway, angst 'cause I almost died, Angie's ex ran over me with a fricking car—"
"Oh my gosh, you almost died!" He exclaimed, looking horrified.
"Yes, I'm still alive anyway. So, fluff, fluff, fluff, leave Peggy to explain the fluff. And then, uh.." John trailed off, not wanting to tell the love letters.
"And then?"
"Well, uh," John blushed.
"Are you okay?"
"Uh, I understand if you'd get uncomfortable over here, but," He sighed.
"Yes?"
"Okay, so we like, uhm, exchanged anonymous letters—"
"Why does it have to be anonymous?"
"Because they were love letters." He said quickly.
John continued, "So, you figured out it was me and I figured out it was you on your birthday and then probably a week later, we uhm, got together."
"Oh." Alex gaped, speechless.
"Well, yes, that's what happened, then stuff happened and then you fell of a forty-feet building and got amnesia."
Well, that's one way to say it, John said to himself.
"Oh, uh," Alex struggled to find words. "I'm sorry."
John looked down, "Alex, honestly, it's fine—"
"I loss my memory, and now you — we were together and uh, I'm sorry." He sighed, fiddling with the sleeve of his suit.
"It's fine.."
"I have one more question."
"Ask away."
"Do you still love me?"
"...Yes."
