Alex's POV-

"Yeah. Sure! I'll see you later!"

I sighed, putting my hood on. John has been meeting up with Francis for a few days lately since the day at the store a week ago. It really troubles me, I think you as well.

It's been a while, wall, hasn't it?

John seemed more cheerful now. That's what matters. Though, his spirits still lower every time he catches sight of anything related to his mother.

"Hey, Alex, would it be alright if I meet up with Francis today?" He asked, fumbling with the hem of his shirt.

"Sure," I forced a smile. "Stay safe, okay?"

He nodded, looking all giddy, and dashed out of the room.

I sighed, and slumped back down at the bed, continuing reading my book. John had a great taste in books when he was younger.

I just hope he has a great taste in men, too.

Me.

John's POV-

I jogged down the sidewalk to Martha's café. I asked Francis earlier to meet me over there since I needed help.

I swung open the glass door, the faint sound of the music, and waited for Francis at a corner. The soft tinkling of the metal pipes above the door making its usual noise as anybody enters the café.

"Hiya, John!" Martha Mannings waved, walking towards me. "The usual?"

I nodded and brought out my laptop, which I carried along.

The metal pipes brushed each other once again, making me look up.

"Francis!" I smiled. "Thanks, I really needed help."

"Of course," He said, taking a seat beside me. "What did you need help in?"

"This." I said, making my laptop face him.

Francis widened his eyes.

Oh, shit. I know I should've showed him. What if he doesn't help me? What would he think of me? Fuck--

I heard a soft sniff from him. I looked up to see Francis

"Shit," I muttered. "I'm so sorry, Francis. Why did I even think of asking you, I'm sorry if you don't wanna help me--"

"John." He chuckled. "I'll help you. I'm so proud of you."

This time, my eyes widened in surprise and joy. I never thought he'd actually help me.

"Thanks, Francis." I smiled.

"Anytime."

"Babe, have you seen my turtle plu--"

"This?"

I let out a shriek of surprise as Alex hugged me from behind.
I'll remind you, he's small and had a hard time doing so.

Alex gave me my plushie which I gratefully took. "Thanks." I mumbled.

"I'm gonna miss this place." I pouted, literally hugging one of the posts at my four-poster bed.

Alex chuckled and leaned beside me, "Yeah. I like South Carolina."

"JACK! ALEX! COME DOWN HERE OR ELSE YOU'RE GONNA MISS YOUR FLIGHT!"

We both laughed at Martha, who was panicking about missing our flight.
She's in total mom-mode now.

I frowned slightly at the thought of my mother. The funeral was a week ago, and we've been staying here for already a month.

But that doesn't mean the fun's going to fade away.

That also doesn't mean my mother won't fade away from us, though.

Cause no one deserves to be forgotten.
Nobody deserves to fade away.

I chuckled softly at my own DEH reference, as Alex and I went downstairs with out bags.

"Whyyyyyyy?" Mary whined. "I don't want Jacky to go away again!"

"Sorry, Mary. But I still could visit. Much more often now college is away."

"Speaking of college away, where could we stay?" Alex asked me.

I smirked, getting it all planned out with Francis.

"I guess..we could still stay with Peggy." I shrugged. "They'll be fine with it."

What I said was only half true.

Alex nodded. We went to my car and placed all of our bags in.

"We'll miss you." Martha smiled, pulling me to a hug.

"Come visit soon!" My dad said. "Also you, Alex."

"Take care!" James waved enthusiastically.

"We'll see you soon, I guess.." Henry, my brother, stuck his hands in his pockets.

I smirked, knowing he would miss me as well. "Just say it."

"I'll miss you." Henry said, hugging me tightly.

Among all my siblings, Henry was the closest to me. We just..lost touch once I moved.

I sighed, lightly patting his back. "I'll miss you as well. Well, see you soon, I suppose."

He nodded. I waved, going inside the car. Alex followed suit, going to the passenger seat.

"Bye!"

"See ya soon!"

"Take care, Jack." Dad smiled.

I nodded and stepped on the gas, not wanting to waste a single moment.

Knock knock

"JOHN!" Peggy screamed, as she opened the door.

"WHERE THE FUCK HAVE YOU BEEN? WERE YOU KIDNAPPED? I THOUGHT THAT IF WE CALLED, YOU'LL GET IN MORE TROUBLE, I'M SO SORRY. WHAT HAPPENED?!"

"Relax, Peggy," Alex said, following me as I entered the mansion. "It's - we'll explain later."

"Oh ok."

And with that the fluffy little dandelion skipped away.

Alex and I dragged our bags up the stairs, to our one-month-unused room.

Once done, we went back downstairs to the living room, where most of our friends were. Only Hercules and Lafayette were not in there.

"So, Peggy was telling the truth." Eliza mumbled, as she caught sight of us.

"See? They're here!" Peggy smiled.

"What do you mean by Peggy telling the truth? Of course she was." I asked, Alex and I taking a seat.

"Well," Maria said. "Peggy has been.."

"Telling unusual lies." Theo chuckled.

"But there is snow in the fire!" She giggled.

"Are you sure she isn't sneaking too much chocolate?" Alex snorted.

Angelica eyed Eliza. They both set off to Peggy's bedroom.

"No, no, no! My chocolate!" Peggy shrieked, running after her sisters.

"We actually were going to start a rescue-and-search mission." James said.

"Yeah, well now you guys are here, we thankfully won't." Thomas chuckled.

"Where are Lafayette and Hercules?" I asked.

"Oh, Hercules and Lafayette are going through venues for our wedding!" Theo squealed.

"Finally, after 3 years." Aaron smiled.

"Well? Fill us in." Eliza said, as she and Angelica returned, holding a frowning Peggy.

"M-my ch-chocolate.."

Alex and I shared glances to each other, and began telling our super amazing and fun summer vacation.

Note my sarcasm.

~later~

"Alex, Francis is here!" I said, smiling.

Alex's POV-

I my smile fell and turned into a frown for a second. Luckily, John didn't notice.

"What do you mean?" I asked, forcing myself to smile.

"He just drove up to New York. He says he'll be staying here for a while, business trip or something." John grinned.

"Can I meet up with him? Again?" He asked nervously.

"Y-Yeah, of course. Whatever makes you happy," I smiled. He gave me a quick kiss, which I gladly returned, and dashed off in a hurry.

I sighed, missing his presence.

What is he doing with Francis?
What could they be planning?

What if Peggy was actually wrong?

What if John was cheating on me?
