There would be slower updates. I'm sorry, but I would try to write in every possible moment.

John's POV-
I stood up from the smooth soft grass, leaving a bouquet of white roses beside my mother's grave.
Roses...
Those were our favorites.
My legs weak, I walked back to where my family, and a few friends, gathered around it. Everyone was wearing black clothes, in respect to my mother.
Alexander was with me. I fell in his embrace and buried my face at his shoulder, weeping.
Why did she have to go?
"Sh..sh.." Alex cooed, rubbing my back, in hope to comfort me. "John, don't worry. Sh.. calm down."
I let out choked sobs.
I could hardly believe this was happening.
And yet it was.
-later-
I was propped on my bed, shuffling through countless family photos at my scrapbook I used to keep.
I smiled sadly, missing the old memories.
I scanned the photos, flipping page by page, until I was interrupted by a knock on the door. I looked up to see Alex, carrying a tray of croissants. He was
"You okay, Jacky?" He asked, setting down the tray in front of me, and sitting beside me. I felt his head lean against my shoulders.
"Y-Yes," I let out a shaky breath. "Do you wanna see?"
Alex wrapped his arms around my waist, which was rather hard since he's smaller, and nodded.
For the rest of the night, Alex and I smiled through photos, and sometimes even laughed. My spirits slightly rose.
"Look, this is me, Martha, and Henry. James wasn't even born yet, nor Mary. We were at the beach." I smiled, showing him the photo of a sandcastle. "Then Dad's over here, one of the rare occasions he actually spent time with us, and there's...Mom."
I paused, my eyes fixed on my mother.
She was still young, full of color.
But lastly, she had roses. She was handing me one.
That made me break down.
For the rest of the night, my mind replayed flashback after flashback of happy memories, and even bad ones.
Even the bad ones.
Even the time I broke mother's vase.
Even the time there was a family argument.
As long my mother was there, everything would be alright.
This made me think that even the worst memories before, were better than the present.
"Sorry, erm," I paused, wiping my tears with the sleeve of my jacket.
"Just... another memory."
"It's fine, John." Alex cooed. "All will be better. Okay? I'll be there for you along the way. Our friends we'll be there."
"Everyone will be." He said.
I smiled.
Maybe things could get better...
-three days later-
It was the fourth day of our little 'vacation'.
Honestly, this was the worst vacation ever.
The whole family, including Alex, were silent the whole morning at the living room.
No one dared to make a single noise.
It was peaceful it wouldn't be Mother's death.
Dad finally sighed, and opened his mouth to speak. His voice was hoarse, probably from crying.
"The funeral's in three weeks, Jack," He frowned. "Are you gonna stay here or head back to New York?"
"Erm..."
I looked at Alex, getting a 'whatever-you're-fine-with' look.
"We'll stay," I mumbled. "I guess."
My dad said, "Alright."
The silent ruled again, nothing except the wind blowing outside and the faint rustle of my dad's newspaper he was reading.
-later-
"Jack, can you go to the store? James finished the milk!" Martha shouted from the kitchen, who was rummaging through the fridge.
I nodded, "Sure. Ya coming, Lex?"
He looked up from his phone, and nodded, following me out the door.
It was a nice summer afternoon. The sun was shining, the trees were vibrant. The fresh breeze sweeping through the air was calming.
It would be a perfect summer's day if it weren't for my mother's death.
"Hey, are you okay?" Alex asked, looking up at me.
"No," I frowned.
Alex sighed and gently touched my cheeks, facing me to him, "I know this is hard. But you have to stay strong, okay? I'll help you."
I meekly nodded, avoiding his gaze. He gave me a quick kiss, tip-toeing as he was smol, making me smile slightly.
"You're so smol." I chuckled, walking again.
"Okay," He pouted. "Maybe, I am."
"Maaybbeee...?" I teased.
"Haha, very funny." He rolled his eyes.
We finally reach the store. Walking inside, my eyes scanned the aisles for the dairy section.
"Fuck, I forgot what kind of milk." I muttered.
"Skimmed?" Alex asked.
"Nah," I mumbled. "We don't like skimmed."
"I'll get whole milk." I chirped, grabbing the carton from the shelf. "Can you also get some fresh?"
Alex nodded, going to the end of the aisle, while I went off to get some popcorn, because why the heck not.
I found the popcorns, after a few lost turns, and saw an oddly familiar staff worker.
Pink hat on his wavy brown hair, pretty tall, dark brown eyes.
He was placing the popcorn bags to the shelf. I reluctantly walked towards him.
"Popcorn?" He asked, handing me a bag.
I chuckled, "Yes, thank you, er..."
I narrowed my eyes on his tag, until my eyes widened in shock.
"Francis Kinloch?"
"That's me!" He smiled, going back to his work.
"You're Francis Kinloch." I said in disbelief. "I don't believe it."
"Whether you do or not, I am." He said, straightening his back.
"Do I know you?" He asked in curiosity.
"Er," I paused. "Yes."
"John." I mumbled, not meeting his gaze.
Fuck, this is the guy who broke my heart.
I added hesitantly, "John Laurens."
Francis' eyes widened and grinned, "J-John!"
Next thing I knew my bones were cracking inside an extremely tight hug.
"IT'S WONDERFUL TO SEE YOU!"
"You know what else is wonderful?" I gasped for air. "Breathing."
He quickly let go, and stood back. "Sorry, er, how are you? It's been so long."
"I'm fine, I guess.." I mumbled, sticking my hands at the pocket of my jeans.
"Have you ever...er--"
"Move on?" I interrupted. "In fact, I did."
Francis gave me a weak smile.
"Who's this?"
I quickly turned my head to see who spoke. It was Alex, carrying fresh milk and loads of chips.
"Francis Kinloch." He said, before I even had a chance to speak.
"D'you..know each other?" Alex asked.
Alex's POV-
"D'you..know each other?" I asked, narrowing my eyes.
I do not like this Francis Kinloch.
"Erm," John paused. "Yes, he was my..."
"Ex." He quickly said.
I raised a brow, glaring at Francis, "Okay then..."
"Who're you?" He asked.
"Alexander Hamilton." I said, still glaring at him. "John's boyfriend."
"Ah," He smirked. "JOHNNY'S--"
"I told you not to call me that." He groaned playfully.
"JOHN'S GOT A BOYFRIEND! WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME? I'M NOT ONLY YOUR EX, I'M YOUR BEST FRIEND. WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME. AND HOW ABOUT PEGGY? AND ANGELICA? AND ELIZA? HOW'S THE GANG? AND HOW ABOUT JEFFER-SON OF A BITCH--"
"..whoa there." John chuckled.
"So," Francis said, eying me.
He whispered -- or rather threatened me, "You hurt John, I'll get you."
I quickly nodded, not wanting to be threatened by him.
My spirits lifted slightly, now knowing that he approves of me.
I think.
"Francis, no need." John laughed.
"Also, how's your mother?" He asked, finally continuing his work. "I've seen her around in the hospital a few times."
In this, John smile fell. He dropped his eyes to the floor and fell silent.
I spoke up, "She well..er, passed away."
Francis frowned, "Sorry, she was a great woman."
"Yeah," John mumbled.
After an extremely awkward silence, John sighed.
"We'll see you then."
Francis grabbed John's wrist, just as he turned to walk away.
"Wait."
Back off man, he's mine.
I shot daggers to him. I didn't like him, at all.
"What?" John asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Well, er, can I have your number?" He mumbled. "So, ya know, we could catch up."
John slowly nodded and pulled out his phone. He gave it to Francis, who quickly typed in his number.
"Erm, okay. Bye," John weakly smiled, walking away to the cashier.
I sent one more glare at Francis, who's back was now turned away from me, and followed John.
