Chapter 33

^^^

Hello! So uhm, please leave your Q n A questions here. You could put questions for the Hamilsquad and me.

John's POV-

I stuck my ear beside the bathroom door, in attempt to hear the conversation between my dad and Alex.

"What are your intentions with my son?"

"S-Sir?"

"What are your intentions with my son?" My dad repeated.

"I-I-I d-don't know w-what you're t-talking about, s-sir."

Poor Alex.

"What do you mean?"

"We- I- I think you're mist-staken."

I finally opened the door and walked out, trying to stiffle my laughter.

Eventually, I gave out and my dad joined in.

"W-What's happening?" Alex asked, his face still pale.

I wheezed, crying and sat on my bed. "Alex there's one thing you need to know about us, Laurens."

"What?"

"We're known for our pranks." I whispered, giggling afterwards.

"So...?"

"He's not homophobic, Lex." I smiled.

"He isn't?" Alex asked with a glint of relief. I nodded my head. Alex exhaled the tension that he's been keeping.

"How?" He asked. I thought back to a memory captured about a month and a half ago...

~flashback time~
(this is continuation of Chapter 21)

"Hello, Jack."

I looked up from making my animatic to see the last person I would want to see right now.

"F-Father?"

"Hello, son." He smiled.

"Hello. Why are you here?" I asked, frowning.

"Why not. I just wanted to check on you."

"And why is that?"

"Because that's what a father does...?" He arched a brow.

I sighed, closing my laptop. "A father isn't someone who spends all day at work-"

"Son-"

"I'm not done." I said. "A father isn't someone who would leave his children all the work-"

"Look, I'm providing for the family!"

"Well, you're not providing enough love." I snapped.

"I do what it takes for all of you to live!"

"Live a life of misery!" I had to refrain from my voice raising since this was a public place.

"Look- wait what are you wearing?" He frowned, looking at my gay-themed shirt.

"Uh- uh, I love rainbows..?" I lied with a sheepish grin.

That did not help, at all.

"Son, are you gay?" He asked, an unreadable expression on his face.

"What? No!" I nervously chuckled.

"Why are you wearing..." He paused. "That."

"I love rainbows!"

"Are you... sure?"

"Yes! Can't I like rainbows? I love rainbows. I'm not gay. I just love rainbows! Got a problem with that? I'm straight! Straigh as uh, stick." I said, my voice pitch getting higher every lie I tell.

My father slowly nodded. "Mhmmm..."

I shot him a grin, my face slightly grimacing.

"There's something you aren't telling me."

"I told you!" I said.

"John, I know you're gay." He said.

"I'm n-not."

"Yes, you are."

"I'm not."

He sighed. "Why didn't you tell me?"

"Tell you what?"

"That you're gay." He deadpanned.

"I'm straight!"

He scoffed. "As a circle."

"Fine..." I said, my eyes filling with tears. I looked down. "Just don't hurt me. Don't disown me. Don't make-"

"Now, why would I do that?" He frowned.

I was shocked. "B-Because you're homophobic?"

"Why would you think I'm-" He interrupted himself.

I looked down, fiddling with my fingers.

"Oh." He simply said. "I'm sorry, Jack. I didn't know. You should've told me."

"You're not mad at m-me?" I smiled.

"Not at all." He smiled.

"Thanks, Dad."

"Of course, son."

~over~

"Well, that was..." Alex trailed off, thinking of a word to say. "Good."

My dad chuckled. "Yeah. We've all gotten closer."

"That's good." I smiled.

"So," Dad clapped his hand. "When's the wedding?"

"Daaddd!" I whined, getting flustered.

"What? I need to know!" He laughed. "Welcome to the family, Alexander."

"Thank you, sir." Alex gleamed.

"Please, call me Henry." 'Henry' said.

"Okay, 'Henry'." I joked.

"Not you, Jack."

I pouted. "Fine."

Suddenly, the door burst open, revealing all my friends, and my siblings, carrying my turtle plushies.

"Turtles!" I squealed.

"Damn it, John. You might even beat Alex being the most childish person." Maria chuckled.

I scoffed. "Already done, hun."

"Noo!" Alex whined.

"Here ya go." Peggy and the others dropped my turtles at my bed.

"Lin. Anthony. Jazzy. Renee! Groff. Groffsauce-"

"Groffsauce?" Thomas laughed.

I frowned. "I ran out of ideas. Okay? Anyway, Pippa, Philipa, Pip-"

"They're like the same names."

"Fuck off, Thomas, anyways-"

"Watch your fucking language." My dad laughed.

Martha hissed. "Also you, Dad."

"Oh and, guys, this is my dad." I smiled, gesturing to him.

My friends clammed up and stared at him. You could hear the drop of a needle at the awkward tension in the air.

"Henry Laurens." He smiled. When no one was able to form a word, he laughed. "Don't worry, don't worry. I'm not homophobic."

"But, John-!" Peggy scolded me.

"Shush, I only found out last month." I chuckled.

"Thank god, I was about to die." Maria sighed.

"Peggy would gladly do CPR!" Laf chirped.

"Shuddup." They both groaned.

"I can't apologize, because it's true!"

"We'll have to go now." Dad sighed. "John, come visit soon."

I frowned, but still nodded. I waved goodbye. Soon, the rest of the group left, since it was getting late, but Alex stayed to keep me company.

"Thanks, Alex."

"No problem!" He chirped.

The door opened to reveal the same doctor from earlier, carrying a dinner tray.

"Thank you, sir, for um, helping John." Alex grinned.

"Of course." He smiled. He set down the tray beside me and went to leave when Alex asked.

"Sir, uhm, I was meaning to ask you." Alex said, curiosity filling his eyes.

"Yes?"

"You look extremely familiar..."

He nodded. "Same goes to you."

"I never caught your name...?"

"I never threw it." He chuckled. "My name is James Hamilton Jr."

"J-James?!"

"Yes, why?"

"You're alive!" Alex smiled, tears streaming his cheeks.

James? Alexander's brother?

"Alexander?!"
