Chapter 24
Alex's POV-
Well that was one heck of a surprise.
Laurens kissed me.
Laurens kissed me!
LAURENS KISSED ME!!!!!!!!!!!!
We both pull away from the kiss and smile.
"L-Let's go..." He blushed. I nodded my head and followed him back to the dorm building .
"So, where are we going?" I asked.
(a/n: the bedroom ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°))
"You'll see." He smiled.
By the Front Desk, he stopped and let go of my hand. I frowned.
"Aw." He cleared his throat at the comment, causing me to laugh. "Uh, uhm, close your eyes."
"What?"
"Close your eyes."
I did as I was told, and I felt a piece of cloth strapped around my head.
"Wha-"
"Hold my hand." He offered. I felt around the air and finally got hold of his hand.
"Jooohnnn!" I whined. "I don't like blindfolds."
"Trust me." He said. "You'll like this one."
I huffed and let John lead me to where we were supposed to go. I would constantly trip at the stairs, making John to catch me and blush.
"How much longer?" I whined again.
"Lexi, it's only been 5 minutes." He answered. I blushed at the nickname.
"Where are we going? We've been climbing for so long." I groaned. "My legs were not made for these floors."
John laughed, "Is that so?"
Next thing I knew, I was being carried, bridal-style, at John's arms.
"Joohn!" I whined. "I'm a strong independent man." I crossed my arms, as I felt heat rise up to my ears.
"And small." He added. He ran up the stairs until we were at what it felt like the 10th floor.
"Where are we?"
"At the 10th floor."
Oh.
I was right.
"Why on earth are we here-"
"Shh." John placed me down at the floor and took hold of my hand again. "Follow me."
After what it seemed like 6 doors, we stopped.
I heard John fumble through the pockets of his jeans and heard the dingling sound of keys.
"Take it off now." John said.
I take off the blindfold and see a dark room in front of me. I look for the light switch, the only light being the hallway light.
I finally find the switch by the door, John beside me, and flicked it on.
And I did not expect what I saw....
"no way..." I mumbled, my eyes admiring the room.
There in the room, which led into more rooms, were my friends smiling, "SURPRISE!"
I laugh. "Wow." I look around the room, the Main room where were all standing. It served as a game room and a living room. "What is this place?"
"It's our hangout place." Peggy chirped.
"Whoa..." I was about to enter a room when Laf pulled me back.
"No no no no, mon ami." He said. "We'll check those later. For now, it's your birthday!"
I nodded and smiled as we all sat down on the floor for presents, like on John's birthday. First, we started with Peggy.
"Here." Peggy slid me a huge box.
"Peggy, I swear if there's a box inside a box inside a box inside a box inside a box inside a box inside a box inside a box inside the box, I will kill you." I laughed.
"I promise, there's none." She smiled.
I opened the box and see a bunch of notebooks, with the bisexual flag. "Thanks, Pegs! I'm running out of pages." I chuckled.
"No problem."
Next was Eliza's.
Eliza's gift was placed in a white paper bag that said 'Alex'.
I removed the staple from the top and took out a bundle of hard rectangles.
I took out the bundle, and realize those were picture frames with the friend group inserted in it. Most were me and John.
I started tearing up. "Thank you Liza!" I smiled.
She nodded as Angelica gave me a whole set of pens. Most were black, others were ether red, blue, or green.
I received a thermostat bottle, for my coffee, from Lafayette. The words 'sleep is for the weak' as I always say, was printed on it. I smiled.
Hercules gave me a bisexual blanket. Sure, I have...2 or 34 more but I love them.
I got a coffee maker from Maria. Goodness, knows she got the money.
Theodosia gave me graham crackers. Aaron gave me chocolate and marshmallows.
"Now you can make s'mores!" Angelica laughed.
"I wouldn't say that." John said. "At the Christmas challenge, he almost burned down the cupcakes." He laughed.
"I didn't." I crossed my arms. "I almost burnt down the whole house." I joked.
Suddenly, three different knocks went from the door.
"I'll get it!" John stood up and went to the door, only to reveal Thomas, James, and Sally.
"Happy Birthday, Alex!" They all shouted, I had to cover my ears.
We had to cover our ears.
"Thanks, guys." I laughed, removing my hands from my ears.
"Can we have cake now?" Peggy whined.
"Cake?" I wondered.
"Yeah!" Eliza chirped. "I learnt to make a new kind of cake."
"What?"
"You'll see!" Theo said.
We all stood up and made are way to the kitchen.
"How big is this dorm?" I asked Angelica.
"It's not a dorm, at all." She smiled. "We begged Mr. Washington to get one of those rooms that had a lot of rooms. He called them 'Junior Penthouses'"
"Surely, there had to be and exchange right?" I nervously chuckled, as Eliza took out a box from the freezer.
"Yep. A few thousand dollars and our dorms." She said nonchalantly.
"Our dorms?"
"Yeah." Laf said. "We'll all be moving here, in a week."
"No way..." I smiled.
"Yes way." Maria confirmed. "Now we don't need to travel to all meet up."
"What about Sally?"
"I'll move in here." She grinned, showing her braces that had teal bands. "I'll be studying Psychology."
"Cool." Eliza commented. "Now enough about moving in, we'll talk about that later. It's Alex's birthday!" She put off the lids and revealed.
A huge ice cream cake.
"Whoa..." I looked at the cake like a child. "Thanks, Eliza!" I hugged her.
"Are we going to put a candle or..." James stammered.
"No. It's gonna melt." Herc answered. Each of us got a slice, eating it quickly so it wouldn't melt.
"It's delish, Liz!" John said, his voice muffled due to the chunks of cake at his mouth. There was small stain of ice cream at his cheek so I brushed it off with my thumb.
"Awww..." Peggy cooed while Eliza said, "Manners!" The two sisters glared at each other before bursting into laughter. We soon joined.
After that, we cleared the plates and went back to the Main room.
"So, what should we do know?" Jefferson asked.
"We could all watch a movie." Herc mumbled. We all nodded and got on the couches. We had three couches, making a square with the huge flat screen TV.
"Can we watch The Little Mermaid?" I asked, using my puppy dogs eyes.
They all groaned, "Fineeeeeeeeee."
"Yay!" I squealed and sat beside John.
"How childish." He giggled. I pouted and leaned back at the couch.
Around halfway of the movie, the others fell into sleep because of boredom. Only me and John are awake by now.
"How come you're not asleep yet?" I whispered.
"My youngest sister, Mary, always watched this. It's her favorite as well." He smiled at the thought of his sister.
"I didn't know you had siblings."
"I have 4. Mary, James, Henry Jr., and Martha. I'm the oldest."
"I wanna meet them!"
"Why?"
"Because. Even if your father is homophobic..." I said, as John smiled.
"Okay. You can."
"Yay!"
"Oh and," John stood up. "I have one more surprise."
"John, you've gave me so much." I hesitated to stand up but did anyways.
"I insist." He smiled and lead me to (his bed ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)) the door. We exited the Junior Penthous and to the stairs.
"John? Where are we going?"
He just nodded and led me there.
"But I don't want to climb down 10 floors!" I whined.
"We can slide down."
"Wh-"
But I was already interrupted by John carrying me on his lap and sliding down the stairs. Since it was night, I had to cover my mouth to avoid screaming.
We reached down the Front Desk, and the lady looked at us uncertainly.
"Where are we going?" I whined as John dragged me outside.
"Trust me."
"John, you're the only person I fully trust." I reminded him.
"Come oonnnnnnnn." He smiled, or I think he smiled. The only light that illuminated us was the bright shining moon.
"Alright. Alright." I giggled.
He led us back at the park. I followed him through a clearing of trees and gasped.
"Whoa..." I looked up to see the stars, surrounded by a canopy of trees.
"That's not the best part." He led me to one of the trees.
"Huh?" John noticed my confusion and showed me there was a wooden ladder, which was easily hidden since it was the same wood from the tree.
He started climbing up the rickety ladder, but it somehow was still able to hold his weight. I hesitated for a moment before shakily joining him up the climb.
The climb in the way up was rather high. It took John 30 seconds and me...well, 4 minutes.
"Hurry up, Lex!" He yelled from above. So I hurried, and managed to get to where he was in a matter of time.
"Whoa..." I said. "How many times did I say whoa?"
"Maybe 7?"
"Well multiply that by infinity because this is whoa." I smiled around me.
"Yeah...I used to come here when I'm upset or stuff." He chuckled nervously.
Where was I?
I was in a treehouse.
I was facing the wonderful view of New York City.
I was with John.
I was with content.
I was happy.
"So, how was your birthday?" He sat on one of the beanbags, patting me beside him.
"Great!" I smiled. "With yoouuu~" I teased making him blush.
"But, really, it's the best."
"R-Really?"
"Yeah." I leaned onto his shoulder.
I'm content.
I'm loved.
I'm happy.
That would be enough.
